She stood in waiting with her usual collections basket, watching as her brother walked on by barely giving her a second glance. She smiled a bit, tore up a few roots and dropped them in to give him a sense that she actually was being useful for the day. However, as soon as he was long out of sight, the springy little mare picked up her basket and set out towards the nearby forest.
Lukou trotted along in silence, eventually slowing down as she reached the far border of the forest to look around. She set her basket down and stood in once place for a long while. She had gone a long way from the swamp today. Farther out that she usually dared to go.
"I wonder if anyone lives out this far...seems kind of a boring place to live..." She murmured, walking over to peer out from between the trees to watch the mountain range nearby. "Might be nice to see what's up there though..."

 Today would be the day. With a determined, almost stubborn look upon his face the pale stallion stepped just one step out of his usual 'territory'. At his side stood Bau, little fierce familiar of the same name and coloration of the males beloved plush;which 'rode' astride his back. Bau seemed to be on alert, knowing that Tav had always been so fearful on their previous attempts to leave his forest home. The sheltering branches shaded him for now. Seeming to offer a last bit of comfort, and courage to the now slightly shaky stallion.
With a softly drawn breath he took two more steps out into the open, wide eyes sweeping around for any sign of trouble. Just a he'd gained a bit of nerve Bau let out a soft growl. Had someone entered their home? Had the darkness..the being from his nightmares finally come to destroy them? The shaking increased, yet Tavshed did not run. No. This time he would stand tall. Quietly clearing his throat, the stallion spoke calling out towards the slightly distant sound of hoofed feet meeting the earth. "H-hello? Someone there?"

Lukou pricked her ears forward then twitched one around a bit swearing she just heard another voice. So she wasn't alone after all. It was no matter in her mind, not the first time she crossed paths with a stranger and got home without an issue. The little mare plucked up her basket once more and turned to locate the source of the voice. If she wasn't hearing things anyway.
"Someone is here!" She called back, re-tracing her steps through the forest. They couldn't be too far out if she heard them, but they could be in any direction around her starting point. Lukou eventually paused after a bit of walking to listen again.
"Well...this will be an interesting challenge. Finding the stranger in the trees..." she murmured, casting a look around in all directions. "You know, sometimes others show themselves unless they harbor ill intent! And I assure you, I would not be stupid enough to cross me in that way!" She called out, very much bluffing since she only knew how to heal. The rest of her family paid more attention to 'curses'.

 Bau tensed up alongside her companion..stealthily slipping away through the underbrush with her usual feline grace. Slinking along the tiger striped familiar peered out at the mare, curiously sniffing the air. Strange. This mare smelled like Tavshed which didn't make much sense but, it assuaged some of the little females worries so without much more thought on the matter she slipped her way back to the stallion's side. Tavshed listened with baited breath only relaxing when Bau rubbed along his legs..comforting him into moving forward towards the voice that was most clearly a mares. Stepping carefully through the trees he spoke only once he'd caught sight of something lighter than the usual forest up ahead. " S-sorry..Tavshed.." As the words left his lips he stepped out into the open before the young mare, eyes meeting hers then moving down to glance over the basket she carried. Some little voice spoke up in the stallions mind..her scent seemed vaguely familiar and the basket she carried seemed even more familiar. Like Chepi's precious basket that he still kept within the cave he called home. There was a small bubble of hope forming but, he was not about to get his hopes up that this mare could be his other child.
