Ophion had once again slipped out from under the watchful eyes of his parents, having grown only more overbearing since he and his siblings have grown - he could have sworn that it was the opposite of what was supposed to happen, but why fight something when he could escape it? The moon's light shone bright against his pale form and the ground below, leading him through the mountain passes to wherever his wandering heart took him.

Spiridion was at it again. He had finally found his way back home, back to the herd he was born in after years of being lost and now here he was, wandering. Something was odd about being back home. Everyone had moved on with their lives in his absence. Well, it wasn't as if he'd expected them to just stop until he got back, but he'd never even thought of that. His brother had a mate and kids now, his family had grown exponentially. He felt out of place. Being home filled him with mixed emotions and he just had to get away again, just for a little while to clear his head.

The stallion looked up at the mountain. Through all his wanderings he had never dared to go there. He'd seen dragons around there frequently and assumed they must have made it their home, and it didn't take him long to figure out he might not want to run into any of them.

The small dragon rolled his shoulderblades, enjoying the feeling of the cool night air along his sleek form, wondering quietly to the sky, as he was apt to do. The skies were so bright and clear, only brighter still with the moon's round face gazing down upon them; it was no wonder that so many others within his herd had been restless this night, the moon may as well have been stepping in for the sun. Full moon or not, he was sure he would have to sleep sometime, and yet the tire was nowhere to be found, within him or otherwise. Instead, a strange excitement stirred in his chest, and he stretched his pale wings in the moonlight.

Even if he'd been born with wings, Ophion hadn't been gifted with any talents of flight, his landings often involving him crashing into a tree or a star or whatever seemed the least damaging landing area. That didn't seem to stop him. No, the boy still stretched his wings, enjoying the cool air on unstretched joints as he tested the resistance, flapping a few times in place. Finally, upper body dipping down and his rump wiggling in the air, the solara began his mad dash forward, flapping his wings hard as he slowly ascended, hooves kicking in the air.

It was such a beautiful night. The moon was big and bright and enabled him to see better than he usually could at this time. The weather was still changing with the season; the air was cool with a warm breeze that ruffled his purple and white mane. Spiridion continued his walk, lost in thought as he usually was when he was unaccompanied. That...was usually all of the time, much more than he'd like. He sighed in spite of himself, wondering how long it was going to take before he readjusted to herd life, or if he would at all.

Lost in his thoughts he nearly missed the sound of flapping wings. Looking up the grounded starborn was surprised to see a dragon heading his direction. Spiridion wasn't sure if he should run or not, instead rearing up onto his hind legs and stepping back with a surprised whinny. He wasn't actually sure where the beast was going but he figured with his predominantly white coat he was fairly easy to spot in the moonlight, and he wasn't sure but he was willing to bet a dragon could see better in the dark than he ever could.

Spiridion was tragically mistaken. Though the youngling could indeed see well in the dark, his golden eyes were focused skyward, even as he began his descent. Flight made for a quick shortcut when one had such short legs, and it had gotten him out of the belly of the mountain in a snap. It was the sound that came from the starborn's mouth that yanked his attention from the nighttime clouds, his eyes growing wide at the sight of the similarly white-pelted stallion. Helplessly, the little one flapped his large webbed wings and backpedaled in midair, succeeding only in slowing his inevitable crash into the other.

A moment after the dirt-throwing impact, Ophion was on his feet with a practiced ease; falling wasn't uncommon to him. He fluttered his wings, shaking any debris from them and making the dirt in the air tumble around them, pale hooves moving him a few paces away from the other before he finally lifted his gaze to them, looking at the splotchy male critically. "Thank you for the... warning. i suppose."

Oh, oh dear. His blue eyes widened as he watched the dragon begin to flounder a bit in the air. By the time he made the decision to run out of the way it was too late, the white solara crashed into him roughly and they both went to the ground, the older stallion landing heavily on his side. He was going to get a bruise, or be sore at the very least.

Dirt had been thrown into the air. He stood back up after a moment with a grunt, shaking his head so the dirt flew from his mane. That could have gone a lot better, but thankfully this dragon still seemed fairly young and small. A full grown dragon would have been much worse. Still, these creatures at others, and his defenses were up. He took a few steps back before replying. "Warning? You mean you didn't even see me?! You were coming right at me!" His mind was being blown. He'd never encountered a flyer that didn't pay attention to their landing at this one's age, most had perfected it. Well, the ones he'd met.

The little solara shook his own mane, tossing dirt from his pale tresses and looking over his moonlit flesh, discontented by the dark smudges that marred it. Well, that would certainly earn him a lecture from mother later. For all his distress, the stallion opposite him got a bored look, gangly webbed wings folding against the younger male's flanks. A shrug of his shoulders and a toss of his head dismissed the other's concern. "Yes, but I heard you." His bright eyes flicked to the stallion once again, looking over his form. "Besides, you appear unhurt."

"Not in time enough to do anything about that landing. Whether or not I'm hurt isn't the point, the point is that you should watch where you're going." Oh dear. In the back of his mind Spiridion told himself he was going to regret taking that tone with those words to a predator, even a young one, and yet he couldn't stop himself from continuing. Hasn't anyone taught you how to fly?" Easy for him to say, he had no wings and knew nothing of the intricacies of flight. All he could do was watch those that could, but he'd never be able to experience it.

Ophion's ears flicked back at the lecture that this stranger felt the need to give him, nostrils flaring. His pacing slowed as his yellow eyes narrowed on the stallion, a creature who was measurably smaller than his father; surely if he was a full-grown stallion, he wouldn't receive such insolence. Alas, that was the curse of being a child - it seemed that any adult felt it was in their right to lecture him. The question, however, seemed to strike a nerve, the solara's head dipping down slightly as he glared at the other. "I'd like to see you do better, stranger."

Damn it, he had him there. Spiridion took in a deep breath and sighed, closing his eyes a moment. Alright, back it up a bit. Obviously this young dragon has heard this before and he could understand any sensitivity on the subject; going on about it probably wasn't going to make him feel any better or more confident. Plus...that was a pretty murderous, at the very least intimidating, glare he was getting and it caused him to take another step away. "Obviously I couldn't do that even if I tried. Let's uh...let's start over, shall we? I apologize if I have offended you, you just...startled me. My name is Spiridion." Was it wise to give a dragon your name? He'd soon find out.
