In a world filled with all things creepy, fanged, horned, and terrifying, there was a generous amount of students at Amityville High who were strong and intimidating, perfect examples of a prime Halloween citizen.
Xavier Hollow was definitely not one of them.
In fact, Xavier Hollow was currently outside of the demon dorms attempting to free himself from the bush his ankle was currently entwined in. He wasn't entirely certain how he had managed to get himself tangled up in such a mess other than the fact that he was completely and utterly pathetic - but whatever the reason might have been, the fact remained that Xavier was unequivocally, undeniably stuck.
And he had been for the past fifteen minutes.
After another five minutes of useless struggling, he gave up."Help."synnovu HERE HAVE A LAME OPENING WITH A SILLY BIRD

While Shoji might have been in the running for said perfect example at one point in time, any imaginary points he'd managed to accumulate were immediately revoked at the sight of his current state.
The young boil fidgeted as he approached the demon dormitories. He had planned to return to his room and finally begin the process of cleaning up the mess left in the wake of that shadowy fiasco, but the demon dorms... they were in the way. His mind replayed the last rocky encounter that had taken place right outside, not to mention his mental canon of demon behavior had been confirmed a few times over based on his past few run ins with members of the race. What sort of unfortunate event would befall him this time around? Perhaps if he cut down the time spent in the dorm's immediate vicinity it would be okay. It wasn't like he would be walking by their front door or anything.
With a quick mental pep talk, the raiju set off at a brisk pace, ears flattening as the large building came into view. Thankfully there weren't any stray demons in his immediate line of sight. No, it was just him and ... a moving bush?
He paused briefly to eye the plant with suspicion, gaze flickering a few times towards the direction of the monster dorms and freedom. The precious seconds ticked away as he glanced again at the odd shrub, eyebrows raising at the sight of a limb. So there was a student behind that bush. A student who, judging from the rustling and barely audible cry for help, had somehow gotten stuck.
Reluctantly the boil edged closer, head tilting as the movements suddenly ceased. Had the student died? Was this some flesh-eating plant? He gingerly reached with a foot to nudge its base.

Sitting in this bush was really very unpleasant, Xavier decided, but considering that a) he could not seem to free himself, and b) there was no one around to help him free himself, as well as c) no one would help him anyway because really he was just that useless and why would anyone help him and -
Were those footsteps.
Xavier straightened (as much as one could when one was tangled in a bush) and tried to get a better view, though really all he could see were green and yellow leaves and spindly brown branches.
Maybe he had imagined it. Maybe in his weakened state he was starting to imagine and hallucinate things. Maybe he was starting to go cra -
Nope, those were definitely footsteps. And then a foot, or at least, what he hoped was a foot and not like a weapon or something, poked his side, and Xavier made a soft whining noise that was more pathetic than pained.
"Um. Er. Help. Who's there."

He jumped a little as the bush responded to his prodding and had to remind himself that it was the student, not the plant, that was making that noise. His foot had come into contact with something that was certainly not very plantlike. It was soft and warm and so maybe he had accidentally kicked another person while they were down, but hey here he was to save them and that was all that mattered.
"HELLO," he chirped brightly, circling around to finally get a look at who it was he'd unintentionally assaulted. His eyes took in the larger boil's garb and dark features before settling on the pair of horns sticking out of the others head.
Oh... oh this was a demon.
Shoji's nose crinkled until he was dangerously close to looking like a pouting puppy, scooting back to survey the sight from a safer distance. Leave it to him to walk directly into the very thing he was trying to avoid. So this was to be the unfortunate event he'd been dreading, was it? Perhaps he should just continue on his merry way and pretend he didn't see anything...
But the others pleading voice stopped him from fleeing the scene and he suddenly felt like a total jerk. Ok fine, I'll just stay long enough to get him out of that thing... With a small sigh, he edged closer once again to squint at the demon.
"WHY ARE YOU IN THERE?"

That was a very loud voice, Xavier thought, wincing a little. Certainly louder than his own had been, and probably coming from someone a great deal more confident than he was.
But, then again, everyone was more confident than he was.
He thought briefly of a certain inugami, coughed, and attempted to extract his leg from the bush again.
When the other finally came into view, it was to show a pale face and large yellow ears that poked upwards from a head of golden hair. Xavier did not recognize him at all, and he opened his mouth to say something - except it seemed the other was not exactly thrilled with finding him.
And who would be, I mean he was just a pathetic demon after all, well, really, not even a good demon, how was he supposed to know that this would be how he would spend his day, well of course he should have known because how else would he have spent his day other than trapped in a bush because really that was how his life went and -
"Er," said Xavier, broken abruptly out of his very secret inner ramblings by the very loud voice of the blonde one. He winced a little again, and said, clearing his throat,"I'm, er, stuck."

He'd half expected to be hit over the head with an insult or at the very least a witty comment, because of course that was the demon thing to do. But much to his surprise he heard... something.
"WHAT?" came the reply, never mind that they were only an arms length apart. Pointed ears swiveled forward in an attempt to amplify the others words."ARE YOU REALLY STUCK?"
He continued to eye the other with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity, tensing a little just in case the demon decided to shoot fireballs out of his eyes or something crazy like that. Upon closer inspection, the source of the problem appeared to be at the boil's leg, which was ensnared right in the bush. To get to it he'd have to move even closer.
But before that, there were some things to clear up. "IF I FREE YOU, YOU WON'T ATTACK ME WILL YOU? OR MAKE FUN OF ME OR... I DON'T KNOW... BE MEAN... AND... NOT NICE..." The words tapered off as he ran out of things to list but there were more, he was positive. He'd add them as soon as they happened to him.

"Well yes I really am stuck why are you talking so loudly."If he'd been smarter, really all Xavier had to do would be to shift into the flock of ravens he often flew as and that might get him free of the bush. But, all things considered, this had not exactly occurred to him, and therefore the raum demon was still in the same place he'd been in for the past fifteen minutes.
Xavier stared blankly at him.
"I won't attack you," he said slowly, as though confused. Did this boil think there was something wrong with him, he did, didn't he, that would make so much sense, because there was obviously something wrong with him, there always was -
Xavier cleared his throat. "I promise so can you, um, please help me now."
