Time: After LuLu's transformation, night
Where:An alley
Who: LuLu and Xiu
What: How easy is it to get ink stains out?

LuLu had nearly floated past him. The glint of his hair is what caught her attention. It was briefly illuminated by the dim glow the streetlights lining the alley provided. The frei's blackened irises locked on her elder. She recognized him instantly. His gleaming tresses floated behind him like a silver cape. Donning pristine white from head to ribbon, Sir Xiu appeared as valiant and noble as ever. And why shouldn't he? Xiu was supposed to be her knight, always and forever. No, that was not true. Sir Xiu was meant to be LuLu's knight in shining armor. As a shadow floating behind Xiu, she was no longer the princess that he had sworn to protect.

Nonetheless, LuLu could not help but question the extent of his promise to look out for her wellbeing. After all, LuLu's so called defender had allowed her to become the very definition of the word monster. That thought alone made the frei's blood boil. Well, if she still had blood. The only thing coursing through the rabbit's veins was the same thick, black fluid that coated her body: ink. The frei clenched and un-clenched her hands as she continued to float after the sigel. Her voice was a rumbling purr at first, "Sir Xiiiiiuuuu."

LuLu picked up her pace. Her voice grew louder as she called to her fair champion, "SIR XiiiiuuuuUUUU."

She raised a hand above her head. It was poised at him in the form of sharp talons, "SIR XIUUUUUUAAAAARGH!!!!" Her tone completely cracked as it became a flat out roar.

It was a breezy night. The kind of night that made Xiu wished he had tied his hair back before attempting to leave for the bakery close by. Hazeline looked like she might be in for another long night and Xiu had had the sudden urge to head out and grab his guardian something sweet to eat for supper. As expected, there were not many choices left being this far into the night but the white Sigel did obtain some delicate looking cream puffs and two slices of carrot cake. The carrot cake made him smile. It reminded him of the time when he had met LuLu back at the country fair and bought her similar treats.

It was then that the Sigel heard an eerie voice. Like the sinister whispers of the wind across desolate hills, the voice seemed soft at first but gradually growing in strength and timbre. Xiu immediately turned to face the direction from which t he voice came from. Granted, there were several options at play here and running was close to being the foremost option on his mind. However, running meant seeking shelter and seeking shelter meant heading for home and heading for home with something as openly hostile as this meant danger to his family. That was never an option.

Pressing his wings tight against his body, Xiu scanned the darkened streets. Had it always been this dark? Or was it his nerves that were getting to him? There! A sudden movement!

Blue eyes immediately locked onto the approaching threat and his heart skipped a beat. Black. Its aura was black with malice .

Xiu felt his mouth go dry as his fingers dug into his palms. The being was approaching him. And fast.

And all that he had to defend himself against it was a bag full of cake and cream puffs. Bracing himself, Xiu waited for the impact that would soon follow; his lips drawn back into a snarl. It was not the smartest of decisions but no alternatives were being brought forward by his rapidly panicking mind. Sometimes, it was best to let instincts…

"SIR XIUUUUUUAAAAARGH!!!!"

Xiu reeled backwards in shock. He’d finally recognize the owner of the voice and it was none other than LuLu! But this was not the LuLu of his memories. T-This was…

It was a monster.

LuLu lunged at Xiu. Once they connected, she made quick work of shoving him against one of the alley's walls. She felt him bounce off and for good measure she slammed him against the dirty bricks once more. They surface was grimy and filthy, but it was nothing compared to the ink oozing off of the frei. Sticky and gummy to the point of nearly gluing them together. The gunk gushed over Xiu and his neatly pressed robes. Instantly, they became a dingy black wherever she touched. Her glassy eyes honed in on Xiu. However, they looked like two shiny marbles and gleamed with a soulless quality to them.

She chuckled softly to herself. Her voice fluctuated between its normal tone and a guttural rumble, "Where have you been Sir Xiu? I have missed playing with you." Her mouth split into a broad grin. Though her usual pristine smile had been tinted a muddled grey. She left trails of ink as her palms traced along his body. Her hands slid across the breadth of Xiu's shoulders and over the contours of his thin neck. Her fingers tightened just slightly around the arteries running lengthwise up either side. She could almost feel his windpipe. The ink on LuLu's forearms swirled and heaved violently as though egging her on. A few tendrils even slid down her wrists and coiled around the junction of where her hands met Xiu's throat. However, nothing clamped down just yet. She wanted a response.

Xiu felt the wind knocked out of him as LuLu slammed him against the alley’s less than pristine walls but Xiu hardly noticed that. The white Sigel was more concerned about the being-once-called-LuLu-but-now-turned-monster that was before him. The poor frei was oozing a horrible viscous substance from every pore of her body. Already the Sigel could feel it seeping through his clothes and covering him in the most disarmingly disturbing way possible. This new level of physical violation was one that Xiu had never felt before and would not wish it onto anyone. Not even to his less than favourable acquaintances.

LuLu Xiu gasped as he felt the other’s hand caressing his shoulders before finally resting against the sides of his neck. Xiu could feel his body tensing as these very same hands formed a ring not unlike a hangman’s noose around him.

And those eyes…

Those once lively (and somewhat cheeky eyes) were now dull and glasslike. Xiu felt a knot (that had nothing to do with being on the verge of strangulation) form in his throat. His poor fairy tale Princess. She was suffering. Just as he had suffered when his first bloodlust took over him; both in body and mind. Blue eyes stared into LuLu’s murky ones with a mixture of pity and understanding. The Sigel knew what it was like to lose oneself like this. Lifting his hand through the viscid coating of LuLu’s body fluids, Xiu tenderly placed them against the Frei’s temple. I’m sorry Xiu mouthed as he used what power over blood that he had to knock LuLu unconscious.

Only…

That did not happen. Apparently the frei’s blood composition (as he remembered) had altered itself when LuLu turned into this monstrous form. Well, that simply meant that some improvising would have to be done on his part. Without worrying too much about the consequences (at least for the time being), Xiu quickly raised his other hand (the one carrying the cakes and cream puffs) and slammed it hard against the side of LuLu’s head, cream puffs and all.

The pink box practically exploded its contents over LuLu's head. Frosting rained down from above as confections splattered every which way. The frei cocked her head to the side, though it was not just from the whiplash. She was genuinely stunned at Xiu's chosen counterattack. Unfortunately, she was not kept at bay long due to the fact creampuffs were notorious for their inability to gain much momentum while being used to assault someone. The carrot cake was a bit denser but still far too crumbly to bludgeon a person with.

LuLu hissed between her blackened teeth. Her fingertips clenched around Xiu's throat and their points dimpled his skin painfully. The cream leftover from Xiu's attack soon blended into the ink coating her body until it was completely consumed by the sentient fluid. Though resourceful, there was no trace of his failure besides the ruined pastries beneath them. She had not liked this response at all! "You were not there to protect me Sir Xiu. Now you want to hurt me?!" Anger was noticeable in her voice.

What Xiu had hoped for was a clean knockout. What the Sigel got instead was one very angry goo-bunny. Admittedly, his move was less than honourable but a gentlemen’s duel this never was and if it continued for much longer, Xiu had no doubt that it would spiral into a struggle for survival. Already Xiu could feel LuLu’s fingers pressing down onto his throat, cutting off his air supply. If LuLu kept pressing down like this, she may very well crush his windpipe in the process and leave him dying of asphyxiation.

Alone.

With the disgrace of having his final act as one that involved hitting a woman on the side of the head with a bag of cake and cream puffs.

With the knowledge that he had failed to stop LuLu when she needed to be stopped the most.

With the guilt of allowing LuLu, who is barely in control of herself, to endanger the lives of others...

No.

Grasping the inkmonster’s wrists hard with his hands, Xiu noted with some disgust that his fingers sunk a good half an inch into the slime. Perhaps this was what had been protecting the frei from his previous counterattacks. The substance was gummy and acted as a kind of foil or buffer against hard impacts and (for want of a better word), magic.

Not anymore thought Xiu as dug his fingers in deeper; beyond the slime and gunk until it was finally in contact with the frei beneath it. With the weight of two previous failures resting heavily upon his shoulders, the Sigel was not taking any chances this time. Letting out a grimace of his own, Xiu shot the most potent, nerve wrecking blood manipulation he had ever done directly into the blood vessels connected to the muscles and tendons of LuLu’s hands.

This time, Xiu heard a howl of pain that rang through the darkened alley. Immediately after that, LuLu’s fingers were pulled back and Xiu found himself releasing large hacking coughs as air flooded into his lungs once more. But this was not a time to be idle. While the frei was still reeling in pain and anger, the white Sigel flared his stone gray wings and like a ping pong paddle, slammed those self same wings hard against the frei.

Force equals mass times acceleration thought Xiu grimly as he watched the frei rebound off the opposite wall before falling splat onto the dirty pavement below. Despite this, the Sigel was certain that the damage done from the impact was marginal. Unless someone was capable of removing the ooze that coated the frei, LuLu had some serious damage absorbing armor on her.

LuLu could already see an ashy grey to Xiu already pallid tone. Air was becoming scarce. If she just tightened her grip a bit more then....

Then what?

The rabbit blinked back the thought. That was something she would worry about after the fact. The ink monster seemed dead set on finishing her Knight off until her glassy eyes shifted their gaze downward. They came across the ruined pastries caked on the cement. There was something familiar within that mishmash of colors and confections.

The frei nostrils flared slightly as she picked an unmistakable scent. Yes, there was no hiding it. Xiu had been carrying carrot cake. Though driven by instinct and anger, the more conscientious side of Lu sparked to life as though drawn out by her favorite dessert. Old memories were also awakened in that moment. They were pleasant and that was a feeling LuLu had nearly forgotten in the past few months while she had been dealing with her torturous "disease". After so much pain, joy seemed almost foreign. However, that did not change the fact that Xiu had looked out for her from the first day they had met. He had been nothing but kind to her and....

If she continued this Xiu might die. Even as a monster, LuLu was unsure if she could handle that weight upon her shoulders. Her fingers became loosely threaded together as she eased her hold on the sigel's windpipe. Suddenly, she felt something other than viscous ink pumping through her system. The familiar warmth of blood cycled through her chest.

She cringed as Xiu snatched for her wrists. Her eyes snapped back up to him. They held a tinge of amethyst in their depths; though, that most likely went unnoticed. She had no time to consider what the sigel was doing because in a matter of seconds the blood that had returned to her veins was knotting and clotting in the most excruciating ways imaginable. She screamed at the top of her lungs as she fell away from her Knight.

If that wasn't enough, a strike from his wings also sent her reeling back into the wall on the other side of the alley. Her back made contact with a harsh crunch. She slid against the surface and fell into a dirty divot in the ground which had probably collected a good deal of rain and sewage. The ink she was excreting was becoming a watered down mess once it touched the puddle. The monster groaned pitifully, Xiu had managed a successful attack. Yet, she was already trying to recollect herself. The comforting feeling she had unearthed was fading quickly along with her returned rationality. Already her blood was once again ink and would not be able to be manipulated by Xiu. Soon enough, her change back would be complete. She would be the same beast that had first attached Sir Xiu. LuLu could not let herself hurt him again.

LuLu flared her wings when she rose from the ground. She bared her teeth at the sigel as a threat if he dared to come near her. "Do not follow me!" She gave her wings a powerful flap sending ink splattering. She took off down the alley and turned back once she was nearly gone. "I will kill you if you do!"

It was just as he suspected, the transformed LuLu did not seem any worse for wear after receiving such a blow as that. A little unsteady maybe but still more than capable of causing harm should he let his guard down. Xiu eyed the frei warily. Should he attempt to take her down now? With that sentient goo covering her body it could still be risky…

A moment’s hesitation was all it took. With a flap of her wings, LuLu had pushed herself up and sent a wave of that viscous fluid in every direction imaginable. Xiu instinctively shielded himself when that happened and when he next opened his eyes, the Frei was already close to the end of the alley. Feeling a cold fear gripping his heart, Xiu immediately prepared to give chase and would have given chase if LuLu had not…

Had not spoken those words with such clarity.

The force of those words made the white Sigel stop in his tracks. "Do not follow me!" and "I will kill you if you do!"

It was different than before. Where LuLu had grinned and rumbled incoherent (at least to him) accusations and teasing, LuLu’s voice this time spoke of anguish and a genuine fear of hurting him. No! Don’t run! Let me help you! You can get through this! Xiu’s mind screamed but of course those words never left his lips. Instead, the Sigel was seized with another bout of painful coughs as the chilled night air entered his lungs.

When the coughing finally ceased, what hope he had of reaching out to the frei was gone along with the rabbit princess.
