Well, sorry for not being that active... but now I have a serious question.

I have three cats. All of them are healthy, a bit aged and really fluffy.

Now, my first cat, Kenshin is passing by some kind of a period. I know my cat is "not dying" because he is drinking water (this is really important), he goes to play outside on th day, sleep well in my bed, his nose is humid and warm, and such.
But he only eat food (nothing but boiled chicken) when I gave it directly to him, if I am not there, he's not eating a bit. Because of this he has lost some weight.
He is 11 years old. I will go to the vet, but this happened before and the vet said so. He used to gain an lose weigh dependly on my self health state, but this time I am afraid he is really thin.

Any suggestion?

Chances are it's a safety/security thing (the others may have been stealing his food) or a dish-aversion from something scary happening.

How much one-on-one direct attention does he get from you outside of feeding time? (it may be that he's doing this in part because it's the most effective way to get that time with you)

Boiled chicken is far from adequate nutrition for a cat, so part of his weight loss is due to the lack of needed nutrients.

First: thanks for the fast reply.
Then, I have tought of that. I used to pass really long time with him. Sleep together, sit around and take photos (yes, photos together), but lately I have been very busy with work and college. I want to be with him, but I just can't manage the time better crying
I will still going to the vet tomorrow after work (maybe he has some kind of high protein food Kenshin will eat), and try to be more at home while possible.
Maybe because of the age Kenshin is being more sensible cry

Like Aki said, if you have more then one cat there's bound to be a some kind of pecking order when it comes to feeding. Also some cats like to be with their care takers while eating. Example: I currently have two cats. A six year old (Meepers) and a 13 year old (Maki). Meepers is the current "boss". She's not aggressive or anything but Maki will fold if Meepers decide she wants to eat what Maki is eating out of her bowl. Maki will then back off until Meepers is done.

Meepers on the other hand will not eat until I'm standing there watching her eat. She would follow me around the house meowing until I go with her. She actually would sit and wait in front of the bathroom if need be.... Maki will be there waiting until I come watch Meepers eat then either come eat out of her own bowl or wait till Meepers is finished.

Back when my 15 year old cat was alive, he was boss of Maki in place of Meepers.

So many thanks for this explicative reply!
My cat now is going better. I went to the vet and he said Kenshin (my cat) has some kind of infection and it will be gone with time (well, he had five days of inyections and daily examination). By now he eat almost everything he sees and drink water by his own.

But, according with you have said, I will pay more atention with his eating times. I will try to make some space for him and me to be together (my life is totally crazy so far). Maybe aging is making him more attached.

PS: we had four cats a year ago, but the older (13 when this happened), she got "moquillo" and died emo . I think she was the dominant and now the younger is pushing around.

Again, thanks!

Great that you found out what was causing his poor appetite before it gets worse. My cats will always let me know when they are hungry ( Biological alarm clock/timers!). They share half cup kibbles for breakfast (7am ish) anything left over will be their lunch plus any snack I give them during the mid day. Sometimes I skip their breakfast only to give them lunch. Then they share one 5 oz can of food for dinner at 8 o clock sharp.

Once Meepers was in the litter box while I gave out can food. Maki was there first and started to lick it. Meepers came out and charged at the food and ate 3x as fast. A little bit later she came by the foot of my bed and threw it up all back out, the entire can ( You can see she didn't chew, looks like the food straight out of the can + gastric juices).

Lesson: Don't feed the subordinate cat first even when the dominate one is not around yet.

We have a lot of people keeping an eye in here. :3 Esp when Im at work all day. D:

Vet wouldnt be bad but I would definently try to get him to eat something a little bit more than that. He needs taurine, and could die without it. (I dont know the taurine content of boiled chicken). I agree with what everyone said about food agression from the other cats, it happens all the time.

Get him to eat something better for him, talk to your vet, and keep us updated.

My Mother also has three cats and one of them also won't eat if not hand fed. My Grandmother cat never even felt the need to learn how to to eat on her own. And the Cat of my Aunt would eat alone at his own home, but when he came to visit my Grandma and his sister he would also demand hand feeding... Live with it... I can tell You right now You won't win agains stubborn Cat... stare Yes we tried to get them hungry enough to eat on their own - it didn't work we were to worried they'll get sick since they could hold down for really long time and just look at You with this hungry cat eyes and meowing stare ...
