His mother had gone to bed hours ago, as had his father, and yet Ian was still awake. It wasn't that he was having trouble getting to sleep, he never had trouble getting to sleep, it was simply a matter of he wasn't tired. midnight was just a bit too early for him to turn in. He was what was called a night owl, something his mother often called him in an affectionate manner, and so two in the morning was as close to a "normal" bed time as he ever got. Sighing he pushed his chair back and stood up, the light from his computer screen lighting his room as well as the teen, as he turned and headed out of his room on tip toe. He might be good with being awake now but he didn't want to wake his mother, and he really didn't care to deal with his father if he woke him, so he kept quite on his journey down to the kitchen.
Once in the kitchen the light over the stove was turned on, rather than the brighter kitchen light, and the hunt for something healthy and snack worthy commenced. It was only after ten minutes of searching that Ian decided that anything he wanted to eat, or snack on, wasn't in the kitchen. With something of a heavy sigh, he really didn't like going out unless he had to, he made up his mind and went back up to his room.
Retrieving his shoes, yanking them on and lacing them up, he grabbed his favorite hoodie and pulled that on while making his way downstairs. His wallet sat by the front door and would be retrieved in a few moments; he had to turn off the kitchen light first. Once the kitchen light was off he went to the front door where he grabbed his wallet and house keys and headed out. The wallet, and after locking the door his keys, were stuffed into his pants pocket.
He knew it was midnight but Ian also knew that he was lucky to live not far from a late night, like really late night, convenience store which carried a good deal of health foods. It wasn't that he was vegetarian or some other such nonsense as that. It was just that he liked to know what he was eating, he would more than happily eat a large steak - he'd just prefer if it was free range and ate grass and such. Stuffing his hands into his pockets, his wallet was in his back left pocket and his keys in his right front, he headed down the sidewalk. Glancing up as a street light flickered, it had been acting up for the last week, he continued on toward the corner of the street where he'd cross with the light and go left down half the block and arrive at his destination. He was close and he liked living so close, it was convenient for him.

Sheena was out on the prowl. She was suppose to be looking for senshi because she had a job to do, but it was a fine-tuned art that she couldn't fully focus on with an empty stomach, so instead she was on the prowl for food. This was proving to be a difficult quest at the current time, as most things were closed, and even if something was open, going into a store was simply a bad endeavor for the poor cat. She wished there was a kid around, but children we're mostly a daytime and early evening thing.
She walked down the pave street her focus on food when she thought she felt it. There was a senshi nearby and oh how exciting for her. He focus flipped in an instant, now it was to seek out the senshi, whenever they might be. She was a bit far off yet, but she would feel them whoever they were. She continued down the paved road, watching her shadow seemingly dance as she passed under streetlights. Most everything was closed, though on some upper floors she could she the blue glow of laptops and tv's or at least that what she assumed she was seeing.
She blinked keeping her focus, even though her stomach growled and she wished she had stopped by Oberon's before this little escapade because now it was obviously to late.

His home was one of those with a blue light glowing from a second floor window, his computer back on at home happily running. But right now he wasn't behind that merrily running computer. Ian was just crossing the street, he didn't know why he'd waited on the walk/don't walk light when no one was around. This part of town was rather "small" and close knit feeling or at least as small and close knit as any area in a large city could be. It was a small area with it's own name and with little odd shops here and there. Perhaps it was the narrow streets and trees here and there growing from openings in the side walk that did it? Passing one of those aforementioned trees Ian was happy to glance around as he walked.
He liked this neighborhood he just didn't like his home life, somethings though couldn't be changed. At the lights to the convince store came into sight he felt himself smiling more as he tinkered with the backing of one of his facial piercings, a habit of his. He had no idea he was being sought out tonight; at least not by a cat.

Whoever, this senshi was, Sheena was getting closer to him. She was quite proud of her tracking abilities and couldn't help, but to grin to herself, which surely looked odd, as she was a cat. There was, however, no one around so Sheena didn't worry about it. So she was grinning smugly, she simply couldn't help it. She was awesome and soon she was be adding to there ranks.
Coming upon the only fully light up building on the block, Sheena stopped and she spotted him. A boy, the senshi, headed right in her direction, what a lucky little furry lady she was tonight. "Pffft," she said softly to herself. Clearly luck had nothing to do with it. It was all her.
She decided not to wait for the boy to come closer instead heading right for him, only slightly playing shy, giving him a few small mews to gain his attention. She was headed right for him, fully intending to wind her way around his legs.

It wasn't odd to spot cats wandering about, so many we're homeless or had owners let them roam, but most cats wouldn't stay in a single spot too long or have clothing on them. What a strange cat that had caught his attention. For a moment he had thought to approach it but he knew better; it would run off or be violent. He didn't feel like dealing with a nasty cat, not to mention he was allergic to cats. It was a shame really as he found cats quite nice; to look at.
As if the cat could understand him, and human expression, he flashed it a smile and then the cat came toward him. was it hungry? Thinking that to be the case he bent, slowly, and deciding he didn't care about his allergy to felines he went t reach out and pet her. "I'll get you some food, ok?" Thinking that was the case and that the cat must be begging because it was used to hand outs. He didn't want to think it might have an owner who simply didn't fed it enough, or at all.

Sheena was quite content to be petted and happy to soak up the attention, but even happier at the mention of food. How awesome was she to find a senshi and also get free food out of the deal. She was so estatic she blurted out, "peanuts please, or walnut, or um cashews or or bananas," rather hurriedly before realizing that she talked before she really wanted to, but decided since she had to anyway it really wasn't a big deal.
"Hi, I'm Sheena," she said in greeting to the poor boy. She really shouldn't have got over excited, but it happened and really there was no going back. She just hoped she still got some food after all was said and done.

Startled, that was the first thing he felt, as he jumped back and being that he was crouched down to pet the cat he fell over onto his a**. With the landing on the sidewalk he sat there staring with wide green eyes. Had he just heard a cat, of all things, talk? It wasn't possible - it simply wasn't possible. And yet he was sure he'd just heard a cat talk to him; and request certain foods of all things.
He had heard a cat talk, or he was going crazy which he doubted. So he hoped no one saw him, or heard him, as he mumbled out a greeting to the cat. "U-ummm hi?" There really was no way to keep the stutter out of his voice, not with what he'd just seen or rather heard.

Sheena gave a small laugh, but apologized for startling him anyway. "Sorry I didn't mean to startle you, but don't worry that's the usual reaction. People aren't very use to talking cats, but were around."
She sat back on her hunches smiling up at the boy, but frowned after a second, "I can still get some nuts can't I," she said her stomach growling slightly. She needed to awaken the boy if front of her, but it still would have been nice to fill her stomach.
"Please," she said with a small pout, than smiled again, "afterwards I can tell you all about why I was actually looking for you anyway. Yup I was looking for you. You guys can be really hard to find sometimes."

Gee, he wondered why? Could e that cats simply weren't capable of human speech, it wasn't anatomically possible. And yet here was a cat talking to him. He wasn't tired, or over tired, and he certainly wasn't on anything. So then what explanation was there for this? He didn't think he could just accept things as they stood, how could he?
And yet despite this he found himself nodding to the cats question. "Yeah, s-sure...nuts." A cat who ate nuts, were they even healthy for a cat? Did it matter? This was a talking cat, even if he didn't want to nor did he fully believe it.
"We can be hard to find? What we are you talking about?" He asked while he stood, slowly, and watched the cat as though she might grow fangs and attack him, who knows given he oddness of the situation.

Sheena knew cats couldn't talk, not earth cats anyway, but she was mau and so it was normal for her and only new senshi had the reaction so she didn't often think to hard on the impossibility of a cat speaking. She just knew it freaked some people out, or rather most people.
She was happy though that for the most part this boy was less freaked and more calm and even still agreed to get her nuts. On a scale of likability, this boy was high up there for now, as long as he didn't run because she really didn't want to try to catch him on an empty stomach.
"Senshi," she said matter of factly moving over to the convenience store door and sitting off to the side. "Don't worry. I will explain everything." The unspoken after snack hanging in the air. She hoped her message got through because he stomach growled loudly once more.

He was calm because he still thought he was seeing, and hearing, things and that this whole conversation wasn't real, or rather that he was just talking to an unresponding cat - like an insane person.
Deciding to go with it, rather than fight it, Ian went into the store and greeted the owner as he headed down the isles, long but narrow. The back was where the more healthy foods were. He wasn't sure what he wanted at least no entirely though he was thinking hummus maybe and some veggies for it.
While he went to get what he wanted, he'd get the cat her nuts when he was headed up front to check out, he wondered what senshi were. It was certainly a foreign word but from where? He could run a search on it when he got home - in fact he was pretty sure he would. It was never a bad to learn something new, even something that simple and small.
Grabbing the roasted pepper, and the sun dried tomato, sabra hummus the teen next grabbed various veggies, not really paying much mind to what he grabbed. Headed to the front of the store he grabbed a small round plastic contained of nuts as he passed it. When he got to the check out counter he put his items down and pulled out his wallet in order to pay for things. While he went about waiting for his things to be checked out he peeked out side looking for the talking cat, was she still here? Or had he been just seeing, and hearing, things?
As he handed over the money he took his bags and put his wallet away and headed outside. Without looking down, to see if the talking cat was still there, he spoke up in a soft voice. "Somewhere safe...my house." He didn't need to remain outside talking like this - to a cat. Plus he wanted his own snack and to be back in the comfort of his own home.

Sheena watched Ian go into the store and waited patiently for him to return, close to the door but not overly close. A couple strolled by and awww at her, though the boy mused that it was a odd sight to see as she was looking at the door clearly waiting.
When Ian returned she grinned, but shook her head in the negative at the suggestion to head to Ian's house. No she knew that was a bad idea. She had to get him to power up and having a energy signal inside one's house wasn't always the best idea. Actually it was terrible as one never knew where chaos was lurking.
“It would be better to go to a small park, a school, a playground, so long as there aren't a lot of people around. Not everyone is allowed to know I can talk, you are an exception.”

"Why am I an exception?" He asked in a whisper while thinking on the places she'd mentioned as being safe. He knew there wasn't any small school in the area or a small park but he did know of a small playground, he used to go there when he was really young.
"Follow me." He really did want to get home and have his snack, and curl up back in front of his computer screen. But this had his attention like few things, hacking and such aside, did. This was after all a talking cat!
"Explain this all to me. We should be safe. No one is out this late." Aside from himself, obviously. Already walking, little plastic bag hanging from his arm and swinging at his side, as he headed for the small park not far from here. It was only a few blocks and the walk wasn't such a bad one really.

She looked up at the Ian staring at him for a moment before saying, "because you are a senshi and I am a guardian." Her mind supplied the name Chaldene and she grinned at him happy to know who she was awakening. "Don't worry I will explain everything, as best I can. I promise."
She followed him eager to get him powered up and ready for the night life, ready to meet his destiny and take his place in the fight against chaos. Also happy that he seemed okay with the whole situation thus far, for her that was number 2 to eagerly go along with it.
She sighed and started to explain while they walked, "well you are a senshi, a magical warrior for justice and a defender against chaos. I am a guardian, it is my duty to awaken you to your destiny and help guide you and other's along the way."

"A senshi and a guardian?" She really needed to start defining these things for him. It wasn't like he knew these terms or had ever heard of them, well he knew what a guardian was by definition but he doubted it was the same way she meant it. He wasn't eager for the life he'd be getting, he didn't know about that, he was eager to learn and find out what was going on.
And it seemed he didn't really have to wait for an answer as to what she meant with those terms, he appreciated that greatly. "Magic...magic isn't real, no matter what some people say. Your going to have to prove everything your saying...and explain just how a cat can talk as well." He said as he wanted that answer as well. What made her different from other cats? How was it she could talk?
After some blocks, somehow the time had flown as had the distance, the little playground came into view. Moving ahead to reach the fence, the gate was locked for the night, he gave the cat a look before he made his move.
As he jumped the short gate and landed on the rubber ground of the playground, as it was locked up for the night, he remembered the cats nuts and from the bag he fetched the round plastic container they were in. Popping it open he set it on the ground for her. While he waited for her Ian went to sit on a small bench, one which mothers and fathers normally occupied as they watched their children play. His father, and even his mother, used to sit here and watch him as a child. Those were good times, they were missed by him greatly.
