I just got the game the other day and made pretty good progress within like 3-4 days whee but there's some things I need help in.

First of what do I exactly need to either make a new type of vehicle or power up my Gear Metal EX? I got XXX bullets from a random dungeon, Carbon armour, a barrier (I think 2 different ones), and some sort of wheels there but when I talk to my professor to level up the Gear Metal EX cant be leveled up gonk

Also, when I'm in a random dungeon and I have my thief steal a key, then HE has the key and I gotta kill him to advance, what do I properly do to get rid of the key but not kill him? (I was stealing this item there which I needed to steal the key to obtain....I didnt know that then the thief became the key sweatdrop )

When I create a mage, do I gotta have him go through all different types (start off as witch and then go each 1) to have them attain all types of magic?

Also what kind of facilities can I make? I already got a default hospital and shop, and I read in the manual I can make a school, but what else can I make? surprised

This all sounds like something I can read in a faqs I know but there's only 1 up in gamefaqs and it leaves most of what I'm asking in the dark gonk

Also, you mentioned that I get vehicles from maps, do I get them in bonus only or can/do I steal them from maps? surprised

At what levels do the merchants sell better stuff? I leveld my merchant up to 51 and sells the same stuff as level 25. I kinda need better stuff for my last battle gonk

I don't remember what the exact formula is, but it's not only the merchant you need to level up for better stuff. You also need to level up a professor and your item store.

Okay, I'll go level up my professor and shop....does it matter though what rank of merchant I have? I got a Junk Trader now and have unlocked a few upper ranks. Do ranks matter too? surprised

Frankly I don't know, but I doubt it.

For items it doesnt matter what rank your merchant is. You get better items depending on the total lvl of your entire army and the lvl of your profesor (shop lvl doesn't count my lvl 1 shop sell all the regular items). This is directly from the SG.

Thanks you two! xd I have a few more items available at the shop now that I leveled up my Prof. Though just out of curiosity what are the "wheel/steering" items useful for in vehicles? All I see it doing is bringing down tech stats surprised

This is the deal:

Vehicles have a tech stat, but it works differently for them. It measures the "difficulty" of driving that vehicle.

The more tech it has, the "harder" it is to pilot it, and the less tech, the "easier" it is.

What does this have to do with the pilot? I'll tell you.

When you put a pilot on a vehicle, the vehicle gains or loses stats. This is determined by how high the pilot's tech is against the vehicle's tech stat. The higher the tech in a vehicle, the less stat bonuses it recieves when piloted. The lower it is in comparison to the character's stat tech, the more bonuses it recieves. Items like steering wheels and OSs help lower the tech stat so that your vehicle gets better bonuses, even when piloted by a character with a sucky tech stat. Good choices for pilots would be:

Thieves. Their high tech means that vehicles will get lots of bonuses, but not as many as:

The whole infantry classes. ( Medics, Femme soldier, Male Soldier and Commander)

These classes have an unusually high affinity with vehicles, so much so, that they recieve exp even when piloting, while the rest of the classes don't. Some monsters have the same skills when piloting, so when choosing pilots, look out for these important stats:

Tech - Without tech on your pilot, the vehicles actually get weaker.

TK. Exp + (any percentage) - This means that your pilot recieves that much from the total experience gained by the vehicles when piloted by him/her.

Now, while movement in vehicles is fixed, this means you can take slower characters and put them into vehicles to compensate. This means that a character with high tech and low move can turn into a vehicle with lots of power and more move than the character alone which, needless to say, is a good thing.

P.S:

As for the items with keys that you want to keep without breaking them? Don't waste the thief's turn, just pick up the item, then throw a building, character or other item into the extension. That'll do the trick. You can also use Zetta to summon buildings, vehicles and characters directly into the extension, activating it. But be careful, buildings summoned into extensions aren't lost to OB, but characters and vehicles could be!

Thanks for the help on that Vyse, I am taking into effect the dropping a building into emptyspace to keep stuff. So far I got a 3 gold star box, and I believe some other stuff in dungeons. The lowering of tech makes sence since I was wondering why the OS items and the steering lowers the tech stat, I had honestly thought it was an overview of the programmers rofl

I figured it out only because once I got the vehicles I played around with them a lot. In fact, all I know about them is stuff I've figured out for myself, since I don't have the patience to check out FAQs about the vehicles.

Besides, I have to figure them out, considering I just had to beat the crap out of one of the secret characters, who had three lvl 180 Prinnies sitting pretty on lvl 180 SkyDivers.

I'm stuck there too. I beat the game but I'm at the first hidden character. I got a level 96 Rogue, Level 86 King of Taste, Level 82 Master Samurai, and after attacking that character which them after them being in a Fortress (that adds 40% to attack) I still come up a bit short. I am working on leveling up a few lesser characters and Chef and the Samurai, then I can take out the hidden character and half the SkyDivers go after a good placed Zodiac move from the Rogue 3nodding Oh and another little problem. Is it just me or my thief can't steal from boss characters. I tried stealing from Raiden at my second game (so my thief was twice his levels) but his items had very low stealing stats. Same for good items on bosses in the free dungeons. Even if my thief has alot of tech and a good UFO, and is above or meets the level of the "boss" character, he can't steal good items off of him/her.
