Oh, there was an end to his level of energy, sure. Somehow though, it just didn't seem like the day would end with him just sitting around ready to knock out on a park bench. Today, the not-so high-flying eighteen-year-old was bouncing around in the park, in the playground no less. A friend had dared him to hop for five whole hours in and around the playground - and it was sand, so a lot harder than it seemed. For his trouble, said friend would buy him any novelty Rubik's cube of his desire, so Dominic took that challenge on without even blinking.
Which he probably should have, since sand is one hell of a think to jump on. His calves, about an hour after he started, were aching and demanding he stopped his infernal hopping, but no! The dark haired youth was determined to get his next Rubik's cube for free, damnit! So he hopped, and hopped... and hopped. At least kids joined in; sure they laughed and asked him why, and when he gave an answer they hopped right along with him.
Two hours into the task and Dominic's entire body was ready to give in, except maybe his brain, but even then! The kids were nice enough to bring him water and things to keep him hydrated, as his friend wasn't willing to help and lose a couple of bucks to make sure he didn't die of exhaustion or dehydration, so he was managing. Somehow. Soon enough it was three hours later...
"C'mon... Jayv!" he called, in between breaths, over to his friend sitting at a nearby park bench with a few other school buddies. "Three.. hours! That's gotta.. count.... for like..... an ice cream.. at least!!"
"Not a chance Styles!" Jayv called back, laughing. "You've got two hours to go, so hop, little bunny, hop, hop, hop!"

Eliza was work free and school free at the moment, out and about in the park. She had been exploring and generally just looking for something interesting, when she came across him. A rather late blooming easter bunny hopping up and down on the play ground. Of course the tiny teen stopped to watch totally intrigued before scurrying up a tree to watching from a good vantage point as he hopped, and other joined him.
Eliza hardly realized she had been in the tree for a very long time probably looking like a creeper for watching the boy for so long, only drawn out of her amusement by his calling out to his friend about three hours.
Eliza hung down from the tree, upside down, looking at the pair. "Three hours is quite a feat to accomplish, but nothing compared to the Easter Bunny the night before easter." She gave a small laugh, even though, she wasn't really kidding.
She released the branch doing a small turn in mid air before landing on her feet, clearly a practiced move. She headed over to the hopping boy, with a grin on her face, but extremely curious expression.

The poor teen watched his friends laugh and almost had the heart to laugh alongside them to save a bit of his dignity, but alas he couldn't bring a smile to his face so he simply groaned and hopped on, trying to fill his mind with pleasant thoughts. Rubik's cubes, chocolates, coins, Rubik's cubes, pizza, pizza, pizza...
"...but nothing compared to the Easter Bunny the night before easter."
An unfamiliar voice interrupted his thoughts, so Dominic blinked a few times to bring himself back into the present world, his gaze soon finding that the voice belonged to a girl. She looked about his age, give or take a year. He watched her land gracefully from the tree branch she'd chosen as her perch and head over to him, a smile and curious expression on her innocent features.
"Yeah," he said, once again between breaths. His friends could really be merciless, especially when it came to dares and losing money. "Well, next year Mr. Bunny might be out of a job." He offered her a tired and relatively forced smile to show that he was only kidding.
"So..." Dominic started, nodding toward the tree she'd just come down from. Maybe a distraction would help keep his mind off of his burning lungs and aching body. "You looked pretty comfortable. You climb often?"

Eliza have a small giggle and shook her head. She didn't at all think the boy was going to put the easter bunny out of a job, but she decided not to mention that because he was giving it a good go at the moment. She was almost tempted to jump along side him.
Eliza nodded, looking over to the three and back to the boy. "Yes, I was raised on a farm, so I spent I lot of time in tree with all the other kids from neighboring farms. I'm still one of the best climbers, but I think that more because I'm still really short, and skinny" she said give a little laugh.
She had the curious expression once more and seemed almost poised to jump, "what about you? What's got you jumping up and down on the playground in the sand?"
Her expression changed slightly and she wondered if he realized it would probably be easier if he had a rope. Girls could jump rope for hours without tiring and she wondered if it had something to do with the way they jumped. She really had no idea, but she did at least think it would give more to focus on other than jumping.
"Too bad you don't have a jump rope."

Hey, she had a sense of humor. Dom smiled, albeit weakly, when she seemed to take his joke with a grain of salt. Honestly, he was about ready to give in, but that small portion of his brain and basically all of his pride kept him hopping right on as their conversation pressed forward.
Meanwhile, his friends were gawking at the fact that he managed to catch the attention of a relatively cute girl while in the middle of going through with a stupid dare.
The teen gave it a bit of thought and looked her once over, nodding slowly to show that he did agree with the descriptors "short" and "skinny," though he didn't make any sort of verbal comment. "Doesn't really matter why, as long as you're still the best without hurting anyone around you, right?" he said.
"C'mon Styles! Hippity-hop to the slide, it's been 20 minutes since you moved!" a friend called out.
"Right!!" he called back, then motioned for her to follow him to the slide if she wanted. As they went he went back to their conversation. "I fell out of a tree once, so I don't really climb them anymore," Dominic said with a laugh, recalling the little incident. "Uh.. about the jumping, they," and he jabbed a thumb in the general direction of his friends, "dared me to for a small prize, so I've got two hours left." He then added, once they were at the slide, "Oh, I've never owned a jump rope. I might at some point I guess. Why?"

Eliza grinned decided that she like the boy, and nodded, "yes, that's right. Doesn't matter at all. It's nice to be the best at climbing." She turned and looked to the friends that were calling for the boy to move, realizing the one called him styles and she wondered if that was his name or a nickname.
She turned back to see the guy motioning to follow and she did so without really thinking about it, listening to him and giving a small laugh. "Oh I've fallen out of the trees plenty of times and almost fell off my roof once. My mom says I was determined to give her a heart attack as a child."
She gapped at him when he said he had two more hours left. It was amazing, because one, she had like many other's been watching him jump for a while and two he was doing it for a small prize. "You must have a lot of energy, but a jump rope probably would have made it easier. You know something to focus on and all, plus its a bit more fun than just jumping up and down."
She gave a grin, "I can jump with you if you want. Maybe that will help time go by faster. Oh and I'm Eliza, by the way, though lots of people drop the E and just call me Liza, even my mom."

"I think if you actually fell you might have given her one for real," the teen finished with a laugh, fairly amused at the mental picture of a kid on a roof nearly falling. In a cartoon it would have been hilarious; in real life, probably not so much.
Her expression after his explanation of the dare was priceless, and he gave an amused sort of smile and shrugged. "I'm almost like the energizer bunny on most days, and it helps when good, kind people like you and some of these kids come and distract me from what I'm actually supposed to be focused on." Dominic bowed his head slightly to show his gratitude, smiling.
"I think jumping rope in sand would be too tiring, plus if I mess up I might lose the dare," he said while thinking on the idea of using a jump rope for the task. When she mentioned possibly joining him, his face lit up. "I don't have a jump rope for you to use, but if you wanna hop along with me that'd be awesome!" he replied, adding his own introduction shortly after. "My name's Dominic. Styles is my last name, which is what they usually call me when I'm about to beat another dare."

"I don't doubt it, but that still didn't keep me off the roof and she comes out to stargaze with me sometimes too." More often now that Eliza was attending school in the city, than before, since they saw each other far less often. "Though she thinks me going to school in the city will give her a heart attack, so yeah."
She gave a big grin and nodded, "yeah I usually have tons and tons of energy too. I'm always running about through the park and well just having a good time. I'll try most anything once."
She conceded to the fact that jump roping in the sand might be hard, but she could do it easy. Though she was also a girl, who had jumped rope in the mud before, since she lived one a farm most her life. When he said she could join she moved to the side a bit and started to jump right along with him. Her long, wild blonde hair, bouncing every which way as she jumped. She was certain some of her clips would fall out.
"Dominic is a nice name and its cool you have a last name people can call you by. My last name is so weird. Satchlynn. Not exactly nickname worthy, but totally unique, so I still love it."
She looked to him still hopping. "Anyone ever call you Nic?"

"The city's not so scary," Dom commented with a shrug. "Just stick to what you know is safe and you should be okay. Don't follow creepy guys into unmarked vans, don't wander around too late at night on your own, etc." Not that he followed his own advice, mind you. As their conversation progressed he sort of noted a few similarities between them.
"Y'know, it's cool that we have a lot of stuff in common," he replied thoughtfully. It wasn't too rare a trait to want to do a lot of new things, but he barely ever met anybody like that, so it was nice to finally run into somebody who understood that kind of compulsion. "I'll try most anything at least once too, as long as it's not a surefire death penalty."
She started hopping alongside him as he made his comment, and it was sort of fun to see her hair bouncing to and fro as she hopped. A clip sort of flew into his cheek, but he just laughed it off and went right on with their talk. "Thanks. I'd like it more if it wasn't my dad's name too," the teen said, though kind of skipped over any more details and went right to attempting to pronounce her last name. And, you know, kind of failing. "Sorry. Yeah, that's unique..." he then said, trying to sheepishly laugh it off before replying to her question.
"No, not that I can remember. It doesn't really work for me though..." Dominic replied, kind of wrinkling his nose at the idea. "Anyone ever call you Satch?"

"No it's not, but since she actually has good reason. If it wasn't for a lot of fast talking and a little bit of begging I would be back to homeschooling. It's not to bad, but it gets boring after a while, though I did like that it was much shorter." She said not really wanting to elaborate of the good reason, explaining to someone you were magically kidnapped was rather impossible.
Eliza grinned and nodded, "yes I only know one other person who is really happy to try stuff with me, but he's back home. I want to try all sorts of stuff line rock climbing and paintball, but not a lot of people want to."
Eliza gave him a bit of a confused and sad look at the comment about his name and his dad. Eliza was really happy her name was her dad's, but that was a lot because he dad died as a child. "Guess were opposite and that. I love my last name cause it's my dad, not even gonna change it if I get married."
She giggled at him trying to pronounce her name, and shrugged with a impish grin. "Yes, just as unique as me. Suits me perfect," she said before nodding then taking on a flabbergasted expression and shaking her head. " No Nic then ... what, no, no one's ever called me that. I think Lynn might be more likely, but not even that. What do you preferred to be called? I personally don't really care as long as its not something you know derogatory."

Homeschooling, the teen thought as Eliza briefly touched the subject, was something he thought might be a good idea when he was younger. Short classes and you're basically in your own comfort zone the whole time. She didn't say much else about it, so Dom decided not to comment on that and instead jumped on her next few sentences.
"I'll go with you!" he said, still hopping up and down. "Rock climbing can probably wait until after high school, but I'm free this weekend if you wanna go paintball-ing." Sure, it might have been weird to just randomly offer to go with someone you just met, but it was always more fun to try new things with someone else rather than just on your own. His excitement over the idea of having a "try this!" buddy kind of eclipsed the talk of fathers, a touchy subject for the teen. Once again, he just glazed over the subject and skipped straight to talk about nicknames and whatnot.
"Dom or DJ is just fine, or Dominic if you really wanna call me by my full name," he replied, then put some thought before adding, "I can call you Lynn if you want. Where does it come from though? You told me your name was Eliza."

Eliza jumping changing to excited, girl jumps and simultaneous hand claps as she gave a squee of glee. "REALLY? I absolutely want to go paintballing this weekend," she practically shouted. To say she was excited was an understatement and she also didn't care that she only just met Dominic. Her jumps slowed to a more acceptable pace, though he eyes still shined. She really hoped the boy wasn't kidding because she rarely got to go anywhere with anyone.
Eliza grinned hearing his nicknames and decided that she like DJ better than Dom and just didn't see herself calling anyone Dom. "DJ, it is than, and as for the Lynn thing, it the last half of my last name. Satch-Lyn," she explained sounding out once more.
"It might be hard to remember that though, so you could call me Eliza or Liza if you like." She was no hopping on just one leg and switched to the other for a few hops before switching back. She was actually having fun bouncing up and down, even though her hair was every where and most of her clips had been stomped into the sand.

He laughed at the sight of her being as excited as she was over going paintballing over the weekend. He'd been meaning to go too at some point, but this was probably the only time he'd actually pull through with his plans since it wasn't just him anymore. "Great! So we'll go this weekend then? Why not ask a few of your friends if they wanna go too, and I'll ask a few of mine."
After her explanation about where she got Lynn from, which made a whole lot of sense to him, Dominic went over the names she'd mentioned and decided that it'd probably be easier to go with Liza after all. Maybe for fun, though, he might call her Lynn or something at some point. "I'll go with Liza then," he said, nodding to make it sort of final.
"Alright, so Liza..." he said, pulling out his cell phone in the process. "Do you have a number or something I can use to contact you about the details and stuff?"

Eliza nodded still grinning, really unable to believe that she had made a new friend who she hadn't made think her weird in the first five minutes of meeting them. She was a little worried though about getting someone else to come with her, but she resolved to ask Willie, Gabe and maybe even Fritz if they would like to come. "I'll see who I can get together. This is going to be so much fun, you just don't know how excited I am. I bet no one will even be able to hit me."
She gave a small smile when he decided on Liza and nodded once more, to show that it was just fine that he called her that, then smiled bigger when asked about her number. "Yeah um, its ... uh wait, will you remember my number if I tell you now while were jumping?"
She wasn't entirely certain he meant for her to tell the number right in that moment. She doubted it would be very easy to type it in his phone while, jumping, that was of course if he even had one. She wondered if it would just be easier to get his number, since she doubted he would just jumping.

Dominic went over a list of friends in his mind that might be interested in going for the weekend and made a mental note to ask them when he finished this stupid hop dare. Never again, he added as an afterthought, would he take on a dare before seeing exactly what he was getting into. Not that he'd remember when the next dare came on, but for now he was comforted with the idea that he'd be more careful with which dares he'd actually take on in the future.
"Yeah, I've got a phone," he said, holding up his phone to show her. It was still shiny and brand-spankin' new because he dropped his last one into a river while doing another dare, so here's hoping he wouldn't drop it now since it was one of those pesky touchscreen gadgets and sand was a pretty heartless b***h when it came to gadgets and giving them nice, memorable scratches.
Dominic typed in a new entry before saying, "Alright, I'm ready..." Though it was a bit tricky hopping and typing at the same time, he seemed to get the hang of it pretty quickly.
