Maybe it was a sign of some sort. Maybe he wasn't meant to have a job. Or, you know, at least keep one for longer than a week.

A day even, shoot.

Dominic was pedaling through Destiny City on his bike yet again, eyes narrowed mostly due to the wind blowing past him as he went, but partly because he was kind of peeved. His stuffy Hillworth uniform wasn't helping any either, and he reached up to loosen his tie after slowing down a bit. Sure, he might have wandered off after a strange dude in a raincoat and left the dog he was supposed to be walking tied to a random lamp post somewhere in the city, but that didn't mean the owner had to be so rude about it. He found the dog didn't he!? Okay, yeah, the dog was a little irate about the whole ordeal too, but at least she got home!

"Didn't even bother to pay me..." the teen muttered, skidding to a stop after the light turned red just as he was about to get to the cross-street. "And I walked her for like.. half an hour. That's at least.. what? Ten bucks!? Tch..." To be fair it wasn't like he needed the money, but he liked being paid for doing work. Who didn't? Sighing, he pedaled on for a bit longer before de-biking a few blocks later. He kind of felt like walking, so he walked.

And then, upon looking up, it was like another sign. Like one, mind you, as there wasn't any "hiring" sign out front of the shop or anything, but the place caught his eye because of the fancy bike sitting out front. Feeling a bit more cheerful at the prospects of another job, Dominic hurried up to the auto shop and propped his bike on a wall before going inside. Maybe he'd get lucky? Maybe...

"Anyone here?" he called once inside the building, not seeing anyone behind the counter or...anywhere else, for that matter. Maybe they were in the garage?

It felt sooooo good to be back at work. Considering the alternative of being stuck in bed resting for a whole week, this was definitely one girl's idea of the better scenario. The morning had been slow in regards to actual repairs, which was a good sign that the previous week hadn't been slammed while she was unexpectedly away. However, it now meant she was somewhat bored.

The blonde had been going through all the various merchandise, cleaning shelves and reorganizing things which customers put back into the wrong places. Hank already had his hands full, and Phil was a lazy jerk at times, so expecting him to do such things while she was gone was an idiot's bet.

As she was putting a bag of bolts (literally) into the proper place, she heard the door swing open. She peeked her head up over the shelves she was restocking and waved a hand at the young man who had entered.

"Yo!" she said as she took a note of his choice in clothing. A half grin found a way to her lips.

"...Hillworth, eh? What'cha in for?"

It almost caught him by surprise when a head of blond hair popped up from behind the shelves, and when she waved a hand he kind of awkwardly waved back, smirking slightly. He didn't expect to find a girl working here, though that's not to say that he thought garages were places where only men work. It was just the first time he'd seen someone of the opposite sex working at an autoshop, that's all. The teen decided against making any comments though, and let his thoughts die as soon as she made her greeting.

"'Sup," he returned, equally as casually. Her comment about his uniform made him look down at his clothes for a second and shrug.

"Yeah," the dark haired youth said with a bit of a laugh. Her question didn't seem to faze him at all; he'd never been asked why he got sent to Hillworth by anyone outside of the school, but he'd been asked before by other students. He also knew HIllworth's reputation in DC. In any case, the answer came easily and it rolled right off his tongue. "In a nutshell? I pissed off my a** of a dad."

Hey, he never had any problems sharing this aspect of his life. His dad was, and still is, an a**, though he wasn't that much better when it came to the way he treated his namesake either.

"...that's borin'..." the girl replied quite bluntly. Hillworth had the reputation of being a school for delinquents. It was usually more fun to hear the stories as to why the students got enrolled in the military-styled school. So that story which the boy offered did not really work for the tomboy.

"...Dude, ya need t'work on yer story a bit... if ya go t'a school fer bad boys, ya might as well try t'take advantage of it... some girls go fer that sh*t... but with a story like that... well... yer pissin' away a good opportunity!" She firmly patted herself one time against the chest (just above her breasts) before saying "Take advantage and live up to the rep!"

Having just given the boy plenty of unrequested advice, she then settled into business. "...so... anythin' I can help ya with?" This was a place of business, despite how off topic she had gotten just prior.

Well, he thought, she wasn't wrong. His reason for being sent to Hillworth was a lot less intriguing than some of the other guys he knew from school, and he certainly wasn't going to deny it. He offered a sort of apologetic shrug for not being able to regale her with a story about how he came to get to Hillworth, although he was smiling, half amused at the idea of coming up with a different story each time he met someone new that asked about how he'd gotten himself stuck at his school.

"It'd be tough to live up to a story that isn't true though," he said, scratching his head. "Though I am proud to have pissed my dad off enough to get essentially kicked out of the house. Just thankful I didn't end up at that other all-boys private school.. what is it.. Azure something or other?"

And with that, the conversation went on to take a more professional, business-like tone. "Uh, well actually the bike out front was what first caught my attention," the teen started, "but I was wondering if there was a chance I could find a part-time job here."

The blonde shook her head at his inability to see how much better it'd be to just lie on that one. Right now he just sounded like some dumb kid with his current story. Oh well, that wasn't her issue to deal with.

He mentioned the reason he came in, the blonde seemed to beam for a moment. She had plenty of good reason for such though, which she soon revealed.

"...So ya like my bike...?" She smirked. "Good t'know!"

However, he had mentioned interest in getting a job, so she had to ask the next question. "...How old are ya?"

She didn't seem all that happy with his story, and as it wasn't all that impressive to begin with he found he wasn't too disappointed that she didn't find it all that interesting. It wasn't, and that was that. He glad for the turn in conversation, as mention of the yellow bike out front brought a brighter look to her face.

"Yours, huh? Nice. I plan on getting a bike of my own," he said with a nod and a smile. "Probably after I get out of Hillworth. I'm still thinking though. Got any suggestions?" Dominic would have been glad to keep on talking about the current topic, considering his personal interest, but she quickly change it back to the actual matter at hand. Not that he didn't appreciate it, but still.

"I'm 18, about to graduate," came his answer. He was going to stop there, then added hesitantly. "Hopefully.. about to graduate."

Her head bobbed up and down as he mentioned his age and his interest in motorized bikes. However, these were false signals at best.

"...I ain't gonna lie. We ain't hirin' and I know my boss ain't th'sort t'really look 'round fer help when he doesn't really need it." In all honesty, if she had been anybody but the daughter of Ed Spectre, she probably wouldn't have had a job either. There were advantages to knowing a man practically all her life!

"...I mean, if ya want, I could get ya an application... but that won't do ya any good in th'long run..."

She paused for a moment, ruffling up her hair as she seemed to give something a bit of thought. "...I'd also suggest jus' gettin' a junker and buildin' it up yerself..."

It obviously was not the option all that many people had. "...but... I don't know if ya got the stomach fer a project like that. I could give ya some suggestions... but ya need t'tell me what sort of ridin' yer lookin' for. Like... everyday street ridin'... or racin'... or long country-wide hauls?"

Dominic almost felt kind of hopeful about this one! Almost. She was nodding her head, right? That was a good sign, usually. So he almost smiled, until she started explaining the situation clearly. Slowly but surely his expression kind of fell into the same depressed sort of state it had been before he entered the shop, though he quickly tried to wave it off.

"Ah, well. No worries there," the teen said quick, scratching his head in the process. "Like I said, I only came in 'cause of the bike. There wasn't any 'hiring' sign, so...yeah." And so ended his lame sort of reply, which he tried to cover up with conversation about motorcycles. The interest was clearly written all over his face, though again she somehow managed to kind of dash his hopes.

"Yeah, I don't think I could put a motorcycle together," Dom agreed with a nod. He thought on the possible uses she listed, stuffing his hands in his pockets in the process. "Probably just every day riding, I guess, but..." his eyes wandered a bit as his voice tapered off. Somehow it felt like he was wasting her time, particularly now since she just told him that they weren't hiring. That in mind, the teen gave a wave of his hand, as if dismissing what he'd just said.

"Ah, it's no big. I can figure stuff out, I guess, whenever I get there. Don't even have my license yet, so I'll probably take care of that before I get a bike, anyway." The teen then moved to make his exit, turning back as he got to the door. "Thanks for humoring me," he said. "I'll duck back in here when I've got that bike, so 'til then."
