See... the problem was, Roch thought, he didn't know WHO to go to right now. He had several people that came to mind, and were rapidly tossed out just as quickly because, well, he would talk to Danny soon, he promised himself, but-- He wasn't exactly looking to talk to a ghoul. Amphi leaving like that? Not looking back? It had brought back way too many memories of what his ma had done to him, and honestly, he was feeling a bit bitter about females in general. Not that he would ever tell them, for one it would probably get him beaten up, for another--well, he wanted some time to get his head straight. So who did he go to? Of all his bros he figured Ren would be the best choice for some cool down time. Jove would have been good--except he was pretty sure Jove thought ghouls had cooties, and wouldn't understand the whole "got dumped" thing properly. Nope, Ren was on the top of his list of guys that wouldn't point and laugh at him for being a wuss over this. So here he was at Ren's door, trying to avoid eye contact with other people because other people would want to talk. He reached up, knocking twice. "Ren? Man, y'here?" he called through the door. "I need t'talk."

Ren's door - as always - was open, though the gryphon was nowhere in sight upon first glance. There was the usual abundance of foxfires covering the entirety of the place, the little fluffs making little to no sound as they shuffled across the floor and the bed. A derpy looking dog sat on the dresser with his tongue lolling out, and an all-too-familiar lepus was currently sitting on the windowsill, absently chewing on the curtains.
The gryphon himself was in the adjoining bathroom, towel-drying his hair when he heard the knock.
"Yo," he said, his voice muffled against the towel, which was pressed against his face. "Who's there?"
Ren poked his head out of the door. "Oh," he said, catching sight of the familiar head of purple hair and the piercings. "Hey, Roch," he said, flashing the boil a smile as he stepped out of the bathroom, wearing a pair of black sweatpants and no shirt as he finished towelling his hair. "What's up, man?"

Somehow between the entering and Ren coming out, Roch had made his way through the foxfire minefield and was petting the derpy looking dog. He would ALWAYS head for the derp-dogs OTL. "Ah... well..." he said as he looked at the other boil. "I need t'get my mind offa somethin," he admitted. He didn't look as cheerful as usual. In fact his usually shining silver eyes looked dull and he had circles under them. "I got dumped," he said. "So I figured I'd come over, see if y'were interested in doin' a little research for the go-kart thing."

The smile dropped from Ren's face.
"What?" he said, his ears flattening back against his damp hair, his wings drooping against his bare back. "Are you serious?"
One of Ren's foxfires clambered onto his foot, mewling for attention, and Ren bent and picked it up automatically, absently patting its fluffy head as he walked over to Roch.
"Do you, uh..." A slight pause. "Wanna talk...about it? Or would you rather throw yourself into something else to get your mind off of things?"

"Ain't much t'talk about, really," Roch said, looking down at the dog again. "She left me a stupid letter sayin' that she's goin' home an' not t'wait for her--that she wants t'break up. Ain't much different from what my Ma did back when I was six," he said. "So... yeah," he said. "I'd rather... get outta the school, an' I don't exactly trust myself right now," he admitted. "An' I ain't... exactly wantin' t'deal with ghouls right now. You know?" It wasn't that he was suddenly batting for the other team, or anything, he was just feeling rather raw. "I stick around an' Danny will find me, then probably Amrita, then--well, I don't wanna break somethin' else over this. So... wanna go go-karting?"

Ren reached out a hand, patting Roch sympathetically on the shoulder.
"I'm sorry, man," he said honestly. "That's rough."
He thought of Alessa and then of LW and cleared his throat, feeling a sudden rush of emotions that he immediately clamped down on. "All right," he said, clapping his hands together and dropping the foxfire in the process. It scuttled away unharmed, joining several of its siblings in cuddling near the closet. "Well, let's get out of here, then. We can go mess around with the Scario Karts. Lemme just go change."
Five minutes later, dressed in a pair of black dress pants, a white shirt and suspenders, Ren was ready to go.

Roch gave him a little grin, holding up a piece of paper. "I got directions to this little go-kart course on the outskirts of town," he said. "It's a bit of a trip--y'mind ridin' on my bike?" he asked as he headed for the door. He waited to see if Ren would lock up behind them. "I got a spare helmet, if y'can get those ears of yours in it," he added with a hint of a tease.

"Sounds good to me," said Ren with a grin. He pulled on a pair of shoes, hopping around on one foot in the process. His ears flattened back against his still-damp hair, the gryphon smirking a little.
"Though I've never been on a bike before."

"Seriously?" Roch asked blankly. He could see Ren--okay, maybe he couldn't, he thought after a moment. "Eh, you'll do fine--although keep your wings tight t'your body, we don't want t'catch any air," he told him as he headed out the door once Ren seemed ready. He seemed a bit tense as he walked through the campus, trying not to garner any attention. Surprisingly, he didn't seem too bad at it. No one really looked at them. When they reached the front gate of the school he headed to the dying bushes against it, pulling his motorcycle out from behind them and undoing the lock on the wheel. Then he grabbed one of the helmets, holding it out to the other boil. "Put this on," he said as he mounted the bike and pulled on his own helmet.

Ren followed Roch obediently from the room, not bothering to close the door behind him (the foxfires wouldn't leave and there was hardly anything to steal from the room anyway), and when they reached the bike, Ren stared somewhat bemusedly at the helmet.
"Er, okay," he said, and pulled it onto his head, smushing his ears down so it would fit. He rocked back on his heels and looked excitedly at the bike.
"So, how does this work?"

"Huh?" Roch said blankly. "It's a lot like a go-kart, as far as I can tell, you've got the motor--" he tapped on the motor, "the gear shift, gas tank, handle bars- they control the front wheel, which--oh, y'mean how d'ya ride it? Get on behind me, grab my waist, and lean when I lean," Roch summed up. Then curiosity forced him to ask, "You HAVE driven a go-kart at least, haven't you? Outside of games, that is?" This was the guy planning on having people team up and build their own go-karts, after all, he just assumed he knew how to drive...

"Sounds exciting," said Ren, and immediately clambered onto the bike behind Roch, happily wrapping his arms around the boil's waist.
"Yes," said Ren, twisting around to give a mock outraged look. "But a go-kart is different from a two wheeled bike, I've never been on one of these things before..."

"Feet on those pegs, see?" Roch said, pointing down before revving the bike. "Me, I did a bit of carjacking when I was a kid, but the first time I was on a bike badass enough to be mentioned it was when my Pop and Gramps kidnapped me for a couple of weeks," he told him, starting down the street to town once he was sure Ren was ready. "They taught me t'ride in the desert on the way t' Los Muertos," he added. "I've been teachin' my little sister recently, she's gettin' a scooter. Pops converted the main floor of his place into a bike shop, so he's buildin' her one." He turned down a street, heading for the outskirts of town. In front of them loomed a large glowing sign in front of a rather creepy looking go-kart track. It said "Dead Man's Curve Go-Karts."

"Right, right," said Ren, putting his feet on the proper places and bouncing excitedly in his seat. He had not ever ridden like this before it was exciting.
"I didn't know you had a little sister," he said with some surprise as they made their way down the winding streets, Ren's hair pressed damply against his cheek, his wings furled tightly against his back to keep from adding any sort of wind resistance. "I have two little sisters myself, but I, ah...don't see them often."
He thought of Medieval and Baroque and sighed internally, squelching down any lingering resentment. Now was not the time, he reminded himself. Now was about Roch and helping him get over things, distracting him.
"It's fascinating, this bike," said Ren with a smile. "I'd love to get one myself, I love this sort of thing."

"I can get y'hooked up," Roch said as he motioned for Ren to get off and took his helmet off. "I know where t'pick up the parts, an' hell, I got a bike shop that we can use--if y'wanna help put it together," he said as he got off as well. "Pops won't mind, if y'don't mind fightin' over the stereo. We could put together a decent bike for cheap. That's how I did this one." He dug through his pockets, pulling out his bag of seeds. "But then again, we already got a go-kart t'put together," he mentioned as he headed for the front booth. "Might be a bit before the bike--unless y'wanna try doin' both at the same time."
