The Basics____________________ User Image
Name : Bardhyl Idrizi
Nickname(s) : None, though he'll respond to pretty much anything people call him.
Age : 22
Gender : Male
Sexual Orientation : Pansexual
Stage : Witch (2nd?)

Faction : N/A, but interested in joining the Cerberus Knights
Race : Majin
Theme/Type : Forever Starlight
Abilities :
Incandescence: Bardhyl is able to create intense light and heat in the form of miniature stars. These can serve a number of functions, from blinding or searing enemies, to cooking food and creating light to travel by. Incandescence is the base of most of Bardhyl's magic, and he's learned to be pretty creative with it.
Eternity: The "forever" aspect of his magic, Bardhyl is able to prolong another being's life by forming a bond with them. This allows him to share his energy with them, which in turn means that he needs to feed more often and in larger servings. By doing this he runs a heavy risk of succumbing to the temptation to devour a Witch Heart, so he doesn't like to do it. Damage done to the person(s) he is bonded to reflects back on him, since injured people require more energy to sustain. Bardhyl cannot do anything with those who have already died, and this ability does not involve healing in any way, except perhaps to provide a body with time and energy to do what it does naturally. This ability is most likely to be done in short bursts, preserving a person's life long enough to get them proper medical attention, but he is very wary about using it because of the drawbacks.
Occupation : Traveler. Bardhyl picks up jobs in taverns to pay his way, and sometimes offers his services as a messenger/delivery person, which occasionally allows him access to places he wouldn't otherwise be able to go.
Battle Style/Magic/Alchemy: Bardhyl is not that fond of fighting, but prefers a ranged approach when he's forced into it, using his magic to try to maintain a distance between himself and his foe. His actual physical strength is pretty minimal.
Favored Weapon/Item: A tall, hooked staff with a small lantern hanging from the top, where his familiar will often travel in unfamiliar territory. He uses it more to guard and keep his distance from an enemy than in any offensive capacity.
Notable Skills:
Bartending: Bardhyl knows a lot about liquor and food, and is an exemplary host, so he makes for a pretty good bartender. This skill is what pays his bills while he's travelling, and he has a good relationship with a number of taverns that he can work a few days at once in a while.
Outdoorsman: With a whole lot of nothing between the towns he travels around, Bardhyl has gotten used to roughing it. Being alone in the woods at night doesn't faze him, and he can survive on what nature provides him if necessary, though he prefers a home-cooked meal and a decent bed.
Quote: "If searching for answers, look to the stars, for they are always watching."

Physical Description_____________
Eye Colour : Blue (l) and Gold (r)
Hair Colour : Blonde, with the bangs somewhat lighter/more faded than the rest of his hair
Hair Length and Style : About chin-length, worn in a style that somewhat resembles a flame
Skin Tone : Peaches & Cream
Body Build : Long and lanky
Fashion : Bardhyl favors flamboyant, eye-catching clothes with interesting cuts, patterns, or fabrics. He doesn't mind showing skin, but likes to keep his hands covered. Usually this is done with long, loose sleeves, but gloves can also do the trick when more form-fitting attire is called for.
Extra : A golden star marking directly over his left eye, a sign of the bond he has with his familiar.

Personality : Bardhyl is a people’s person. He loves to be social, and while he naturally prefers to be around people who enjoy his presence, he’d rather be among people who dislike him than be left alone. He always has a joke or a story to tell, and frequently touches the people he’s with- a handshake, a pat on the back, a light jab in the ribs. This is both to remind them that he’s there, and to reassure himself that he isn’t imagining them. He’s an excellent listener, and has a knack for knowing when to speak and when to remain silent, though he sometimes second-guesses himself and causes awkward pauses in conversation. Though his years in Moonfall and at the Academy have taught him a lot about the way the world works, he has little practical experience when compared with those who have had less isolated lives, and it shows in his interactions with others.

Beneath the surface, Bardhyl is still in many ways the child he was back in Clarus Arbor. When he’s alone- though these days he is never truly alone- he’s prone to sulking, and can easily become envious of people who seem to have what he desires: companionship, prestige, a place in the world. When he feels threatened, he tends to showboat, trying to garner as much attention as possible. Often, this leads to chastisement, as well as to personal questions that he isn’t willing to answer, as his true race is his most carefully guarded secret. He knows that were his identity as a Majin discovered, he would be shunned by the people he wants to be close to, so he scolds himself for jeopardizing his current situation, and calms down- at least, until someone else comes along and his feeling of lack is thrown back into the spotlight.

His willingness to befriend anyone, regardless of age, race, or class, is a double-edged sword; while his open-minded attitude is often appreciated, there are people who judge him by the company he keeps, and he loses out on possible relationships that way. Other people find his constant attention unnerving, while still others are suspicious of his evasiveness when asked personal questions. While Bardhyl has no shortage of people he calls friends, he has difficulty with the upkeep of lasting, meaningful relationships, seemingly more interested in quantity than quality.

Strengths : Sociable, good listener, totally accepting of others
Weaknesses : Fearful, competitive, deceptive
Talents/Hobbies : Stargazing, traveling, researching history, enjoying good food, good liquor, and good company.

History: Bardhyl came from a family of brewers, with a brewery called Majestic Mountain on the outskirts of Clarus Arbor. As a future brewer himself, his education was solely on the processes and machinery, and he was never able to socialize with other children. Nor were there any other children at his home, so he had several imaginary friends to distract from his solitude. He was thrilled when he was deemed old enough to come along on deliveries, eager for the chance to meet new people. But the owners and patrons of the pubs they visited were all adults with little interest in the child of the brewmaster, and the sheer disappointment Bardhyl was struck with made him feel more isolated than ever. When this happened, on the rides back to the brewery, he would often look up at the sky and tell himself that at least the stars were there to keep him company.

When Bardhyl was twelve, one of the farmers who supplied the brewery with grain passed away suddenly. The funeral was his first real interaction with other families, and while the mood was too somber for him to truly enjoy himself, he was touched by the fact that the community had gathered to remember this man. The service was soothing, and he took solace from knowing that even if he didn’t meet many other people, the ones who knew him would remember him like this one day.

Or so he thought. When, many months later, Bardhyl mentioned the funeral to one of his aunts, she seemed not to know what he was talking about. Then, when she finally understood, she barely remembered anything about the farmer other than his occupation and the color of his cap. Other members of his family had similarly incomplete memories. Bardhyl was horrified. How, he wondered, could someone live and not leave a mark on the world? What was the point, if he made no impression to anyone, if he might as well not have existed in the first place?

Before, his future of becoming the family business hadn’t overly bothered him. Now, he was terrified that his fate was to be stuck at the edge of nowhere forever, hardly meeting anyone, making a drink he didn’t even like. Unless he took action himself, that destiny wouldn’t change. He spent a while considering his options, longer still preparing, and when he was fifteen, Bardhyl ran away, smuggling himself on a cart full of ale that was bound for Lumena.

After a life of isolation, Lumena was jarring, and Bardhyl didn’t take to it right away. In a city full of strangers, he felt more alone than ever until he learned to assert himself and make people notice him. He learned a lot about the world outside of Majestic Mountain, about the different kinds of people, but mostly about himself. Specifically, during his time in Lumena he learned two important facts about himself. The first, that he had magic, was fairly easy to accept; his family had never encouraged any skills that weren’t related to lagers and ales, so it had gone unnoticed for years. The other was more difficult for Bardhyl to understand, but the strange and intense hunger that he was struck with upon arriving was difficult to ignore. A few well-placed questions made the truth clear to him- he was not, in fact, human.

In a large city such as Lumena, rumors flew about constantly, and Bardhyl learned more about public opinion of Majin, and about what happened to Majin who succumbed to their hunger, than he ever wanted to know. But all of this knowledge made Bardhyl determined not to lose the companionship that he had craved for so long just because he wasn’t who he’d once thought. As soon as he was old enough, he enrolled himself at a magic academy, intent on keeping to his goal of making an impact on the world. His resolve was strong, and he managed attain his dream of becoming powerful enough to accomplish things.

Bardhyl's first act as a Witch (what he claims to be, for the sake of hiding his true nature) was to set off on an exploration. Travelling suited him; he could meet all sorts of new people and learn things he could use to make something of himself. It was during his travels that he met his familiar, Rezart, and discovered his ability to bond with others in order to preserve their lives. It was a jarring discovery, but one he greeted with joy at finally having someone who would always be with him. Currently he is still travelling, not quite sure what his next step is going to be, but he is confident of one thing: with a familiar bonded to him, no matter what happens in the future, he can never be completely alone again.

Plots:
- Someone finding out Bardhyl's true nature! Not looking for full exposition (at least, not yet), but a confidante would be nice.
- Learning more about the Spiritus- Bardhyl vaguely knows he's descended from one, but doesn't really understand what that means.
- Bonding with someone, which pushes him dangerously close to becoming a Witch Eater.
- Attempting to bond with someone he cares about in order to make them dependent on him, which would backfire pretty terribly.
- And much more! I'm still figuring out Bardhyl's place in this new setting, but am up for pretty much anything with him. <3
