With their recent approvals for research and also given work areas to study, Melvin had set to work cleaning his area, bringing in supplies he could use, and making his workspace his own - even if he had to share it with another lab group. What mattered was that he had his own space. A permanent space that, from afternoon to evening, was his.
When he was done however, he remembered that Rin had a greenhouse that had been otherwise abandoned and was now hers. Just thinking about it made him pretty sure that she'd need help cleaning either dead or overgrown plants from the area just to clear it out, then to asses what needed to be done or could be salvaged from the previous research group.
He made a list, grabbed what he could from the supply closet (to which he was a constant visitor), and asked Rin if she needed any help. When she was fine with him heading up, he followed her directions to the greenhouse - and got a bit lost somewhere near it. Where the hell was she at? He tossed her another text asking her where he had to head to because he had no earthly idea where he was in this wing of the labs.

The phone buzzed in her pocket, but her hand was full. Rin took a few moments to set down the flowerpots full of dead bramble before fishing out her phone to raise a brow at it. Rin shook her head and rolled her eyes before firing a text back.
Text to Melvin i swear i need to draw you a map have you passed the tree that i tied the bell to yet

Melvin looked at the text and blinked a few times before heading to the nearest exit and stepping outside to walk down the train. So, it wasn't in the courtyard but actually far away from the labs. He wasn't even on the right trail!Text to Rin Not yet. Seems I might have gotten turned about.

Might have gotten turned around? Rin was fairly certain this was man-speech for I'm ******** looooost, help me pleaaaaaaaaseeeee. So she set back out of the greenhouse and back up the long winding trail heading back to Deus HQ. All the while, looking for the likely hopeless look on Melvin's face.

Melvin was actually heading in the wrong direction again when Rin spotted him. He hadn't though the greenhouse would be far from the labs since it was research and was likely tucked on the side of the building or on the roof. If anything, when she mentioned a bell on a tree, that it would be in the courtyard that he would pass and just looked out the window to then turn a corner. He hadn't really went to any trails into the jungle aside from walking to get to the greenhouse or the trail to the beach. Island exploration just left him worried he'd get lost, get mugged by a bunch of creatures, and there would be no one around to help him.
When he stopped to check around for any trees with bells, he noticed Rin farther off and waved. Yup, he had been going in the wrong direction, but seeing Rin had him thinking that the greenhouse was very close by. See, he could find things.
"Hey." He said as he walked over to her. "Greenhouse is a bit - out there, isn't it?"

Rin smirked with an exaggerated roll of her eyes before reaching out to try and grab a hold of Melvin's sleeve and instantly turn on her heel to lead him back the way she came, "I swear you are such a man sometimes."

Confused, he was lead after her, trying to catch up to her pace. He would have shaken off her hold, but it was just a sleeve. Though, he did wonder if her hands were a bit dirty if she was in the greenhouse before.
He tried not to think about it.
He failed.
Casually, he tried to reclaim his sleeve. "What do you mean?" He was pretty confused. Did he do something good to be called a man?

Rin offered a more subtle smile as she continued to lead on, "I meannn~ you get horribly lost and still refuse to admit it or ask for help. I don't know what it is about that Y chromosome."

"That's stating fact. Not being in denial." He humphed before looking around. "So where is it, great navigator?" He said with a little bit of bitter sarcasm.
He hadn't been lost, Rin. It was just the scenic route.

"You were headed in the wrong direction entirely," Rin pointed out with a smirk as she passed a tree and gave the bell attached a little jangle. "Almost there you big baby."

"Well what sort of direction is a bell on a tree?" He muttered, not really finding any fault in his own faulty navigation. It was all to blame on the person giving the directions.
Moving on (because he was in the right), he looked around. "Have you been working on the greenhouse long?"

"I've mostly just... been moving the pots and setting them in order," Rin stated this as if it had made perfect sense to do so... In reality though, as she rounded the corner and lead the way inside, it became clear it didn't really make any sense at all. At least, at this point in the operation. Everything was still grungy and covered in dead overgrowth... but meticulously placed in groups of purpose, size, and colour. Pots were full of dead plants as they stood proudly on the floor in rows segregated by size. Tools carefully laid out in groups of purpose. Bags of old fertilizer and soil even fell prey to Rin's sorting.

When Melvin entered, he saw organization. Organization of dead things. Things that, for whatever reason, Rin either was keeping or saw some use for. He didn't get much about gardening aside from what his mother growing flowers when he was growing up, but he didn't remember her keeping a dead plant unless she saw some way to bring it back from the brink of death. These plants, however, had long since seen the reaper.
Setting the bucket of cleaning supplies and the broom and mop he brought with him, he looked over at the complete mess this place was in and then back at the pots. "Um....are you keeping the dead plants for any reason?" He might as well ask. Already he was taking off his jacket and looked around for some place not covered in dirt or plants. He managed to find a old chair, dusted it off, and set his coat there. He hadn't brought a sweater to wear as being a greenhouse cleaning would be too much. Instead, he wore a worn, blue polo, a pair of jeans, and sneakers. There was no way he would be wearing nice clothes to a big project like this.
