Otto grumbled, shuffling his way down the hall. It was only a short jaunt to Candace's room from his own. He had a big problem. Or more like 99 small ones. Something like that. He needed someone to complain to in hopes of clearing his head. Maybe if he talked aloud it would make the answers clearer.
The blonde teen knocked at her door several times. He'd have barged in but this was a girl's room. Rude as he was he needed some degree of respect.
"Candace! Lemme in."
....Some... degree... of...
..never mind.

Candace liked Otto. He wasn't as bad a kid as he made himself out to be, and he was entertaining.
But he was also a rude ******** brat sometimes.
She had been asleep. Candace liked her sleep to go uninterrupted. At first she had ignored the knocking; if someone wanted her so bad they'd either text her or let themselves in. But no, they knocked. By the time she groaned and regretfully climbed out of bed, tossing on a robe over her sleep clothes, she was awake enough to realize it was Otto on the other side of the door.
"Lemme in what?" Candace asked as she opened the door, leaning on the door jam with her arm holding the door itself. She was blocking his path in.

"Uuuuuh... ... .. please?" He asked with a brow raised high, an incredulous expression on his haughty face.
"Guess you were sleepin'?" Oops..

"Very good, you may pass." Candace stepped aside and gestured for Otto to come in, closing the door behind him and giving a nod of her head. "Yeah, but it's fine. Can't sleep all day~. Molly'll probably be up soon too if you want to stay for breakfast."
There was a pause. She looked for her phone. "It's breakfast, right?"
Shaking her head, Candace waved a hand dismissively. "So what's up?"

"Yeah, sure.." Food? Breakfast time or not, Otto wouldn't pass up some free grub, especially since he kind of didn't mind Candace's company. Or Molly's. He kinda sorta liked them a bit. Just a bit, okay? "Right, so.." Otto stuffed a hand in his pocket, fishing around for something. Phone? No.. candy bar? How long had that been there... Aha! Otto pulled out a piece of paper, his expression frustrated. "Mark gave me a term project. He didn't give me a whole lotta explainin' and said no one's gunna "hold my hand" through it. Apparently I gotta prove I can be competant or some s**t."

Candace waited patiently while Otto dug around in his pockets, taking the paper offered to her and reading what little words were on the page while the boy explained what he was doing. The first line alone had been enough to win her over. Weapon Candidates. She no longer looked at all tired, her eyes practically sparkling with excitement.
"Weapon candidates?" Oh Otto.
Oh Otto.
"And why did you bring this to me~?" Did he want her help? Could she help him? Oh please oh please! Candace did her best to keep her excitement in check, trying not to show too much right off the bat.

What had Candace suddenly so excited? Otto wasn't expecting much of a reaction let alone that one. "Well, I don't know what the ******** to do with it." He grouched, his hands finding a spot in his pants pockets to sit in. "I dunno if you noticed, but I ain't a people person. I don't got any business tryin' to win over some whiny a** student to the dark side, yanno?"He frowned, his gaze dropping to the floor. He'd been given a task, even if it wasn't particularly suited to his talents. He wanted to see it done, and done well. "Maybe you got some kinda advice or.. I dunno. I don't know what to do.."

"It's a very difficult task sometimes. You have to really watch them..and do the exact opposite of pretty much everything I did last time." Candace handed the paper back to Otto, smiling. "I can help, if you want. Basically you need to look for students that show certain qualities, there's a lot of rules."And Candace had pretty much broken every one of them. Way to go.

"Really?" Otto took back his paper, folding it once more and stuffing it into his pocket.
"I'll take all the help I can get. I don't got a clue." Otto didn't really know much of the details about Candace's failure. Bits and pieces that came standard with the Hunter's Gossip Division.
"Like.. seriously. Uh.." Oh right, manners...
"Um... please help."

Oooh! He we even said please! "Oooh, good boy to say please. Good boy." Oh...but..
"I'm going to have to think of a new reward system for you." Candace mused with a little smile, running her fingers through her hair to fix the bedhead she had going. "I can help you, yeah. I know a few off-limit students and some other students I know for sure won't help you at all." She frowned now. "And others that will be suspicious if you only show up once as a specific golem. Weapon candidates aren't just a one visit thing."

New reward, huh? Otto had a good suggestion. "Sugar." He helpfully helped. "Not the kissy kind, the candy kind."
"Yeah I know of at least one that's more on my 'get rid of permanently' list than any conversion one." That damned whatever it was that nearly killed him. Not that he was out for blood or anything. At least not right away.
"Ugh yeah.. babysittin'.." Otto grumbled, dreading this assignment more and more. "Sometimes I feel like they stuck me in the wrong division."

Candace laughed and rolled her eyes. "I don't think Eva would like me kissing you. So, you want candy. I'll keep that in mind." Boy was going to get cavities.
She did look interested in what one Otto wanted to take out permanently. Well, maybe if he tried he could win her over as a golem. Sweet talk her. Turn her into a weapon. "A student?" They were pretty annoying, so she wouldn't be surprised.
When Otto complained about the assignment and division again she frowned. "Why did you stay in Death instead of transferring to a more suitable division, then?"

Otto managed a small smirk, "Nah I don't think she'd take too kindly to that either." Excellent. He'd be getting more candy, he hoped.
"Yeah? I think it was. I think I got it figured out but I ain't got all the pieces to fit yet. It might been a girl. Found someone matchin' her description but she was all kinds of weasily when I tried to get her to talk." He motioned to himself as if on display. "Again. NOT a people person."
One day he'd figure out what or who attacked him.
Otto shrugged, "I dunno. Seemed like a pain in the a** to go through with? And I figured I was put here for a reason. If I ain't good at it then maybe I just haven't tried hard enough. B'sides, its a bit late in the game to switch sides now."

"You're going to get cavities." Candace warned Otto as she disappeared into the kitchen, searching around until she found a batch of brownies Molly had made the day before. This would do. She picked two of them out of the pan and put them on a napkin, even pouring a glass of milk for the boy before finally emerging from the kitchen. "Will brownies do?"
She listened to Otto's explanation about the 'boil or ghoul' who had attacked him. Candace even gave a little smile when he claimed to not be a people person. "That's wonderful, they're not people so you have nothing to be concerned about."
So he had no idea what he was doing.. "Have you been given a rundown on the rules?"

"Feh. I ain't got any yet." He was living dangerously. Deliciously dangerous. His brows lifted curiously at the sight of the tasty confections. Baked goods were an A+ way to sugar him up. "Brownies'll do." He curled his lip at the sight of the milk though. Milk was nasty stuff. He never liked it.
"Theres rules?" That answered Candace's question right there.
