Rishima attacks Chalcedony

It had been sometime since Rishima and Chalcedony had met up and it would appear as if their second meeting was a fortuitous one as they were both looking for the same thing at the moment, that being practice. Rishima knew where it was that he was going, to the island where the Mother Tree grew and he knew that there were many sisters that wouldn't welcome him there. Due to this he wanted to hone his skills so that he was ready for what was to come. That was why, when he stumbled across his old acquaintance he was quite to ask him for a sparring match. Much to his surprise Chalcedony mentioned the woman that Rishima wasn't the first Alkidike to ask him for such a match in the recent days and agreed to have another go at it, wanting to prepare himself just as Rishima did.
As the two of them stood off, face to face, it was Rishima that acted first, lunging forward toward Chalcedony and brought his spear forward in a smooth, fluid strike... and much to his surprise despite the grace behind it his spear was deflected by the Shifter's strong shield, "Wow... that was great, Chalcedony. I will get you next time though." He said, preparing himself for a counter attack.

Chal gave a smile when the mix blooded Rishima acted first, glad to see that he was a lot less timid then when the two of them had first met. From what he recalled he'd been hiding from him, as though unsure of how he should deal with an 'enemy' one on one though the two of them it turned out had got along well enough. While neither of them really wanted to fight at the time they were also careful not to get too close, not wanting to upset their various factions. It had been best at the time that they were careful with the way that they dealt with each other. Now though, seeing that they were alone, it was alright to chat and to practice together in such a manner.
The attack that the half blood made was a good one, one that he was barely able to get his shield up in time to block. When Rishima said that he would get him next time he believed it. Planting a foot Chalcedony pushed forward toward his sparring partner, pushing his strength into the strike, trying to see if he could tip Rishima over...

Seeing the attack coming Rishima was quick to slid out of the way of it, doing so in a manner that allowed him to not only get out of the way but to do so in a rather smooth manner which allowed him to get in a retaliatory strike as he swung the butt of his weapon forward toward Chalcedony to see if he could get an attack of opportunity in while the other was still moving forward along with the attack that Chalcedony had made.

When his charging attack missed, something that had both surprised and impressed him given the way that Rishima was able to slide out of the way so gracefully, Chalcedony was given a firm smack to the ribs with the butt of Rishima's spear as a sort of punishment for having missed so completely. Giving a grunt he swung around to look at his sparring partner, one hand rubbing at the sore spot, "That was pretty impressive, now it's my turn." He said, tightening his hold on his shield before he lunged forward once more toward Rishima, a lot faster this time, a lot of power behind the attack, and he was aiming right for the one that had just dodge out of the way of his initial attack so easily. He wanted to connect and he meant to do so this time if would seem given the rather serious look on the Shifter Guard's face.

When the Shifter turned around to face him once more, and came at him with a far more powerful attack this time around then last time, Rishima once more tried to dodge out of the way, knowing full well that it was an attack that he didn't want to get hit by. This time around though he wasn't nearly as lucky when it came to dodging out of the way, not completely at least, and he was sent flying as the shield collided with his body. A squeal of surprised escaped Rishima's lips as he was knocked a little loopy by the hit and his antennae were twitching rapidly as he recovered, "W-Wow... kinda seeing stars..." He said, shaking his head clear of them before he looked at Chalcedony.
He needed to strike back he told himself, lunging forward to do so but it seemed that his body wasn't quite recovered enough or ready to make such an attack as he missed with the swing that he'd made at Chal. Oops... well, he'd just have to shake it off and try again he told himself, readying for whatever the Shifter would do next.

Chalcedony gave a bit of a wince as his second attack sent Rishima flying in a rather spectacular manner. It was far more then he could have hoped for given that his first attack had missed completely, but at least he landed one this time around he thought to himself in a pleased manner. The half blood was quick to respond with a counter attack of his own but it was one that whiffed right passed Chalcedony, making him understand that his sparring partner had been knocked a little loopy from his last strike. Not one to let such an opportunity pass him by he moved to attack once more, aiming to see if he could knock him down this time around. It was a good battle for them both and he wasn't about to hold back, even just a little, since they both that a true enemy wouldn't do so. They had to be ready for whatever the world threw at them, that was why they did matches like this.

Another good attack by Chalcedony but this it seemed that he was up to moving like his body should, dodging out of the way of the attack this time quite smoothly. It was enough to almost make up for the last round... aside from the point that the attack had left him aching all over. Aside from that part though this dodge had been a nice one he told himself before he took a hold of his weapon, planted a foot, and lunged forward with his weapon to take a swing at Chalcedony, wanting to see if he would be able to land another hit on the rather block happy guard.

It was an exchange of dodges for the two of them as first Rishima was able to dodge out of the way of his attack and then Chalcedony was able to do the same with Rishima's attack. The two of them were then once more facing off with one another, readying themselves for another round of attacks. Thus far it was a somewhat even battle, each of them having been hit once, the rest of the attacks having been successfully dodged or blocked. It was a fairly even battle making Chalcedony that much more eager to keep it going, because he wanted to see how far the two of them might go with this, as well as who might come out on top as far as a winner was concerned. While he knew that winning shouldn't matter as much when it came to practice but it meant something to him at the moment. He'd lost to the Leaf Tribe archer after all and since then winning had become a little more important to him then he might like to admit.

Once again when Chalcedony came after him with the heavy shield the halfbreed was able to easily slide out of the way, giving a bit of a grin as he did so. He felt as though he were getting better at this, really fluid, able to dodge out of the way of attacks sent his way and then in turn it allowed him to take attacks of opportunity against his opponent. He rather liked this, how well he was doing, and how much better he was getting at this sort of thing. His previous battles hadn't been nearly this amazing, the first one he'd ever been in having been an abject failure on his part. Still, he was getting better and better and surely he would be someone that was impressive enough that he should be able to hold his own amongst his sisters and maybe even prove himself to them that much more? It was what he was hoping for at least. He wanted to be strong, wanted to continue to climb the ranks, and he wanted to show that just because he was of mixed heritage that he was as worthy to be called Alkidike as any of his sister.

This time around Chalcedony's dodge wasn't as smooth as he would have liked it to be, getting himself clipped once more by Rishima's spear, this time in the thigh which caused him to stumble just a little. Due to the stumble his attempt at a counter attack was a lot weaker then he would have liked. Still, at least he'd been able to stay on his feet and counter attack even a little instead of missing completely. He wanted to keep himself moving, keep his charges going, and if he was lucky land another good hit against his rather speedy opponent. This was certainly a good battle to be in he thought to himself yet again as he tried to prepare for what Rishima was going to do next.
