This is something you want to tell all your friends to tell all of there friends, but dont chain letter it!

Okay; well I was posting a different post in a thread here and I realized something that makes inflation rise quickly. Its the fact that a lot of people go out and buy donation letters when they come out, and then instantly a ton of them quit [since these donation letters are the cheapest, new gaians are likely to target them for purchasing]. After I thought about that, I moved on to realize that gaians also quit without giving away there items, or releasing them back into the economy thus decreasing the amount of donation letters circulating gaia! My point is that you should try to prevent people from quitting and leaving everything in there account, because I mean... how many people do you think have quit gaia that have OMG's or NM Scarfs or other '03 items in there inventory and just left them there. It definitely builds up over time, I mean 50-100 extra scarfs circulating gaia would definitely decrease the demand and increase the supply which would in turn make the scarf cost less [maybe even 50k-100k less!]

Sadly, its to late for the NM Scarf, so just try to keep this philosophy in mind whenever your in a discussion about inflation, and mention it to your friends.

Post Comments About This Thought, Please? ^.^

I forgot what word I used in the search, but I did a quick search in the memberlist and saw literally dozens of people who havn't logged on in years, wearing BBT/RRC

so I know what you mean
However, its kinda hard to tell someone over gaia not to quit, and its hard to know who quits and who's just taking a break >.>

Yeah well.. you cant exactly stop people leaving. Why should they have to bring all there hard earned stock into circulation just to help the economy out.

I mean it is not there fault that the greedy got greedier, the poor worked harder.

If i was to leave i would not sell a thing. I would keep it locked up til i came back. Not that i have a great deal now anyways xD

However rather than them circulating there stuff i would rather see my friends stay... but alot of them are stressed out and taking breaks.

I dont blame them... the game has lost its appeal to me.

Yeah, that's true.
However, I doubt that when people quit, they are gonna care abaou tgaia's economy.
Many of them probably quit because of some gaians, and they might not be in the best modd to give away stuffs...
And some probably thought they were gonna go on a break and come back a few month or years later. xD

There's a topic about this in the GCD a few days ago. Most people won't give away their items when they leave because they anticipate that they'll return to Gaia weeks or months later.

Honestly, I think price rise because of item supply decrease when people leave falls under natural inflation, not artificial inflation. I don't mind natural inflation. We have to accept that there will come a time when not a single owner of an item is willing to sell their item (Halo is almost like that), and thus newer users can't get one (unless the rumoured quest system allow it).

Doesnt mean you cant help convince them, isnt that the entire purpose of this guild. To get inflation down, if we just sat around like a bunch of losers saying "oh but noones gonna sell for less when they can sell for HIGH", then what would that make this guild? It would make it a worthless timewasting guild. ^^ So I say, go out and tell your friends about this, TELL them to sell there items back into the economy and just keep the gold for when they return. If your friends are like you, and want to help the economy then they will listen. Like I said, even if we can get a couple hundred people doing it that is good, they will tell others, others will tell others and soon it will be spread throughout gaia... and even if someone quits out of madness or anger they will remember about this and have the courtesy to sell there items.

3nodding I absolutely agree with you.

to bad that there isn't much we can do unless you know a good hacker who can hack those accounts of the people who left gaia to get the items back in a used account xp

I'm not suggesting hacking is good but in the cases of accounts that haven't been used for over a year it would be good to get the items back in the economie. if hackers focus on those accounts there would be less problems about hackers since no one notices it

rolleyes i dont agree with hacking or the suggestion of it. And hell no it would not be good to get more 03 items into circulation. Are nt they going down enough. 04 items yesh more would be good.

Inflation down?

To be frank. We are not going to get inflation down.

It is not possible. Even if we did get the people who leave to put their items into circulation. Its not going to be enough to lower the prices. Unless we reach stage when people cant afford prices. Then they will come down.

The guild is not time wasting... i would nt be here if i thought that the case. And im sure dj and lucifer would nt have put as much effort as they have in to it.

Basically im only here to seek peoples opinions rant, and help the charity when it gets going.

I see how this would work, but the only items that should be made available are those that have given them to this cause willingly. I am very against the hacking statement. Some people do take breaks with their accounts for possible a few years (I even did it with my old account for a year and a half).

True. Whining isn't gonna get anyone anywhere.
But like Shadow said, we aren't exactly bringing down the inflations. We are trying, that's true.
But we aren't succedding much.

I do agree with the idea of spreading the words. Let's hope peopl eout there are as nice as the people I've met in here. :3

Hacking would be ok if one is absolutely 100% sure that the person isn't coming back. But other than that, it's really just not a good idea...

I see that all three replies after mine think I was suggesting hacking but I'm not.

I lost this account for 3 months because of a hacker, I hate hackers and I always will hate them.

I'm just saying that I hear of to many hacking cases lately, not only is that bad for the hacked one who loses his/her items but the hacker only laughs at us...

..people are getting banned unfair because of hackers and that while the hacker itself has used a mule and can continue but we the other users who buy those items from the hacker without knowing it get ourselfs banned for it.

The mods don't look far enough and ban everyone who gets a hacked item so that person can wait for months to get his/her account back or they won't even get it back.

..to get back to the hacking old accounts that haven't been used for over a year:

if someone is gone for more then a year it is unlikely that the user will return to Gaia, most of them forget their old username/password so they have to start over anyways. sure there are people who come back after such a time, they planned it and informed friends about it.

still if Hackers who will always be on Gaia no matter what the mods and admins try hack those accounts then the owner of the account won't notice it for a year.

the user loses his/her items but no accounts that were involved with the hacking without knowing it will be banned for "profitting from hacking" which is good, the only problem left then is the hacker. there will be nothing done about that hacker but hackers always use a mule to hack and most of the time a computer with a different IP from their main computer...

..to end this:

I do NOT support Hacking but hacking old unused accounts is better then to hack active accounts since there are less victims then

artificial inflation it what we can fight against, other kinds of inflation are natural and can't really be stopped

Aristeia: I completely agree with you...

A lot of people that quit DO come back. And it would be a real kick in the face if an item was worth 100k when you sold it, come back, and it's worht 500k. Any normal person would want to make a profit.
