Syyrin wasn't entirely sure when he had noticed something going wrong...but when the baskets had come along his suspicions had reached a fever peak. Something was off..and now he had baskets to look after. That had been the final straw..the last push needed to break him free from whatever spell Kasha had placed him under (and he assumed it must be a spell, what else could have kept him away from the herd for so long when he was only supposed to check in on these strangers and then report back?). Yes it had to have been a spell, like the ones in the stories his mother had told them when they were young. Syrrin had never believed in such things before but he certainly did now.
In any case the whys and hows of it were not the point at the moment..no the point was making sure the two baskets he had be able to rescue were fine. "Lapin?" He whispered as he edged around the place his hyper half sister liked to keep her supplies. "Lapin!" He called out just a little bit louder, hoping..praying..that she was actually here.

It had been a good morning for Lapin, she had went on short but exciting adventure with Lightfoot, they had gathered a few herbs while they were out there. Once she was back she had put her herbs away in a clearing she had claimed for that exact purpose and where anyone injured or sick in the herd could find aid from her. After that they had gone to the stream to play for a bit, the herd was small and careful so her duty as a healer was often very quiet but she loved it none the less. Returning from the stream Lapin watched Lightfoot dash off to meet some other rabbits that lived not far from the herds territory and went toward her clearing.
Just when she thought this day was going perfect the voice of her half-brother Syrrin cut through the trees. Part of her was relieved to hear his voice because he had been gone longer than he had planned to be doing a small task for their grandfather. But the other, much larger part of her was instantly annoyed at his voice, practically demanding her to come to him. With a sigh Lapin wove her way through the trees and flashed Syrrin a very unpleasant look. "That's no way to call for me Syrrin. Clearly your extended time away from the herd did nothing to teach you manners. Now what do you want, I have work to do." She actually didn't have anything to do but her relationship with Syrrin had never really been that good so it was the only likely excuse to use to try to avoid him. As if to prove her point she walked over to where one of her stashes lay and began re-pile the already nearly piled herbs.

At any other time Syrrin probably would have fussed at his younger sister for the chastisement she felt the need to give him. He would have reflected on the thought that she now thought herself better then him because she had a 'job' in the herd...but right now? He really couldn't be bothered.
Syrrin was far to flustered and worried to dwell on his sisters attitude towards him. Instead..and probably to her bafflement the small stallion let a look of relief wash across his face, even as he kept nervously looking behind him and shifting his feet. "Oh! Thank the gods your here!" He stated with obvious sincerity. He had been quite afraid that he might have to go looking for her all over the herd lands and to be frank he wasn't really ready to tell anyone he was back yet. Especially considering what he had brought back with him. He was only going to tell Lapin because well...he was worried about them.
"But shhhhh!" He went on with a worried voice. "Someone might hear you...look I really need your help Lapin, please come and help!" He all but begged her, something which was highly uncharacteristic, as was the somewhat wild look in his eyes and disheveled appearance, which she might notice if she ever bothered to stop putting her herbs away and actually look at him. "Lapin! Please!"

Lapin ignored his initial outburst of relief. This was just like all the times he fooled her when she had been younger, he would feign interest or excitement, which had gotten her excited and then he would crush her spirit like a bug and be laughing at her. So nope, she wasn't going to fall for it this time. He focus remained on the leaves she was re-stacking, taking extra care to place them in just a certain way and then sometimes removing and replacing that very leaf again just to avoid looking at Syrrin. He was such a jerk sometimes.
When the tone of his voice changed Lapin's ears flicked slightly but other than that she showed no interest in what he was saying. Clearly he had noticed that she wasn't swayed by his relief and so had tried to win her over by feigning worry. Nice try stupid brother, I'm not falling for that, she thought as she set another leaf on the pile. Oh course when he pleaded with her the second time it sounded almost...real. Reluctantly she turned her attention from the pile of leaves and with a heavy sigh that told him if he was messing with her she would beat the tar out of him and then refuse to heal him Lapin looked toward him. "Fine!" She said in an exasperated tone, clearly not quite believing him just yet. Feeling the need to poke fun at him she stepped closer to him, giving him a quick once over before nodding. "I can't heal stupid Syrrin, sorry."

"Lapin! This is no time for fooling around!" Syrrin hissed at her quietly and urgently, but otherwise didn't seem to notice or respond to her little jabs. Until she actually turned around and came towards him he had been on the verge of leaving and finding someone else to help him. Wretched sister.
Thankfully however he was spared that annoyance because wretched though she might be she seemed willing to pay at least a little bit of attention to him now. That was all Syrrin needed and before she could utter another word he was rushing off through the woods leaving her to follow him.
He had been gone far too long already, for all he knew that nutty mare had followed him and stolen the baskets back already, or if they were injured like he feared given the rushed way he had toted them away and Lapin wouldn't get there in time because she was too busy organizing her damned herbs. Frazzled and exhausted from lugging not one but two of them as far as he had Syrrin almost ran right past the place he had hidden them before turning around and going back to pull off the leaves and branches he had used to hide them from sight. He didn't even bother to look and see if his sister had arrived yet.

Lapin let a frown cross her lips as Syrrin completely ignored her baiting him about being unable to heal stupid. But it was that that had told her that perhaps he wasn't fooling with her and that he did indeed need her help with something. Even on his best days Syrrin would have cracked at her comment and slung a whole variety of nasty words her way. Giving her head slight shake Lapin had to hurry to catch up to her brother who had already made a hasty retreat from the clearing. Just what was going on with him.
She trotted behind him keeping alert to an sign of a trap that he may have set for her. Perhaps he had been gone extra long simply to try to get her good when he got back. She wouldn't put it past him if he did something like that. When he stopped, back tracked a few feet and began to pull at a pile of branches Lapin had to side step to avoid crashing into him. Watching him closely her brow lifted slightly. Head injury, it had to be a severe head injury. She was about to make a comment about it when a branch was pulled back to reveal...holy crap! Lapin's jaw dropped as her gaze landed on two baskets that had been hidden by the branches and leaves. How did? But? Syrrin? Holy crap! Her eyes darted to her brother, back to the baskets and then back to Syrrin. "Are they...yours?" She asked in a shocked tone. It couldn't be! It just couldn't! Syrrin was in no way parent material and yet it might just explain his extended absence. She took a tentative step closer to the basket while she waited for her brothers reply.

"Of course they are mine!" Syrrin told his sister in an irritated voice. Really..he knew she thought little of him but did she really think he would wander around stealing someone else's baskets? Having finished clearing the two baskets off he turned his head to regard his sister and her shocked look. He could understand the shock..to be honest he had been rather shocked when he had first been told they were coming himself.
"Could you..could you just look them over..make sure they weren't hurt on the way here? I had to steal them away fast, something is wrong with their mother. I didn't see it at first, she..I don't know what she did but for the longest time I felt like I had to stay there but things just weren't adding up...there were three but I could only carry two.." He told his sister, his voice breaking for a moment as he recalled the poor basket he had had to leave behind. He was rambling, making no sense..probably confusing his sister even more and none of that was important right now.
Shaking his head he regained his composure. "Just check them over please." He stated in a more Syrrin like tone.

This was not like her brother at all to get so emotion. Oh she was used to him using his emotions, well only one to be exact and that was anger, so this was a new side to Syrrin she had no idea how to deal with. But her brother could handle himself. Although the current situation certain begged to differ. How could he have let something like this happen? Giving her head a slight shake Lapin didn't think that answer mattered. Syrrin was an idiot at times but clearly the baskets were what needed her attention. "Of course I'll look at them. Just...calm down, don't get all snippy just because you got yourself into this situation." Giving her head another shake she moved closer to the baskets. She was no expert on them, in fact these would be the first baskets she would deal with since becoming the herds healer but she knew enough from talking with her mother to know a thing or two.
Lapin carefully nudged both baskets and waited to see if they responded. Both did, which was good. Then she murmured things to each to judge if they responded to that. And they did. She took a moment to inspect the baskets to ensure the wicker was in tact from being moved. It was. Well that was pretty much all she could do at this point. Everything else would need to wait for when the foals came out. "They seem fine." She told her brother as she returned her gaze to them. "They respond to touch and sound and the baskets are unbroken. But we will need to move them. I'd like to put them in my healer clearing so I can keep a close eye on them, just in case." She didn't think they would need any extra care but as this was her first time dealing with baskets she wanted to be absolutely certain.

Syrrin blew out a huge sigh of relief when he heard the baskets seemed to be fine. In fact they seemed to be moving about quite vigorously - a fact that he was rather proud of. After all they had been through they were little troopers his foals...which they ought to be, coming from him and all.
"Yes... that's probably a good idea." Syrrin agreed readily enough - Lapins little healers clearing wasn't right in the middle of the herd and it was fairly off the beaten path. Enough so that he was quite sure no one would stumble upon them until he was ready to tell everyone. "If we each take one it will be a great deal easier." He told his sister before taking hold of the one nearest to him and starting to move it towards her clearing. It was going to take a bit of work - but between the two of them he was sure they could get it done...and then he'd had to think about how he wanted to tell his mother. Oh boy. That was a conversation he did NOT want to have.
