... I need to groom my cats.

We've actually got plans to get ones of those ... I've forgotten the name, but the rubber brushes. I've found them in both local pet shops, but they're $25, which means I've been putting it off. We're also going to get a slicker brush, because I've seen it in action and liked the look of it.

Plus, both brushes will work with the dog too!

Those ZoomGrooms or whatever they're called?

Personally, our nylon slicker is my favourite so far out of what all I've tried on Saphi - with her coat type, it's what seems to work best (I haven't tried combs but they probably would work well too).
For Bella-dog, I've found this sort works
best with her coat, followed by a quick once-over with the metal slicker if I want her coat to go fluff/poof

Sadly, you would want different brushes for both sets of animals. O.o Just so the cats know that "Hey! this is just for me!" etc.

I have 6 brushes. O.o And Loki gets brushed the most since he doesnt groom as efficently as my dainty princess.

And your thinking of a zoom groom. LOVE MINE. works great for baths too. wink

I did get the nylon slicker and I still perfer the pin brush for my cats. D: Loki is the only one getting brushed right now (hes not as good of a groomer) and hes shedding the most. SOOO MUCH HAIR.

I haven't tried a pin brush on Saphi yet, probably just because so far I've been happy with how the slicker works on her. I'm not entirely sure a pin brush would even be as good with her coat (if she were longer-haired than she is, I'd be more inclined to use one, I think). The pin is what works best for Bella, though, and probably what would work best on Zoe.

Loki dont care what brush I use but the Pin feels better than the slicker on his skin. He doesnt care for the comb and Freyja hates all of them.

she needs a bath today. D: Shes covered in snot.

Huh. That's actually a really good point. If nothing else, Blossom sometimes smells a bit strong. xd
She does actually have a couple of brushes of her own... that aren't used very often. She's so hard to brush! She doesn't mind me doing the top of her head and her ears, but anywhere else, she spins around and tries to eat the comb.

Zoom groom! That'd be the one! I know that you suggested it to me, so I kept an eye out for it. I've found it, but money's a little tight right now, I'll get to it after I've recovered from these vet visits. (Pet insurance is great, because I know I'll get the money back, but I still had to pay for it first... so it'll take time.)

Loki is getting better at grooming himself though?

The slicker looks like the best option, to me, for our bunch. At least, for Nightshade. I think the zoom groom would be good for Tansy and Minstrel, with their short fur, but Nightshade is looking like he'll be rather fluffier than either of the others! Which is slightly strange... I've never had a fluffy cat before!

I have a brush kind of similar to the one you linked. I mean, same bristles, but it's not a traditional brush structure, it's one of those strap-your-hand-to-the-back ones. More like a horse brush, I guess.

The worst part about brushes is how you don't know if they'll work until you try them, and if they don't you're out that money (unless you can sell them to somebody else). Don't forget to check dollar stores in your search; I've only seen the pin brushes at the ones near me, but you never know.

That's true! I guess I can always donate any that don't work for me to the cat rescue though. They've got such a range of cats with different fur that surely any given brush would work on someone!

We tend to frequent the dollar stores around here anyway (not that I call them that, but close enough! xd ) The only toy we've found, so far, that Minstrel likes at all, came from one of them. So we go there fairly often to see if there's something else he might like. Not to mention that we try to buy as much groceries of ours there that we can...

I know how you feel. D: Next month is gonna be tighter than hell with money due to unexpected funding of animals, etc. T.T

And go slowly. smile Loki LOVES it as it pulls the loose hair up, but Freyja perfers to do herself. (For kicks and giggles they both got a real bath yesterday. No shampoo, just a nice hot bath. XD )

And yes, hes been watching Freyja do it and has gotten into good grooming habits. smile

Zygmunt is addicted to the suede cloth... And he gets so shiny afterwards it's amazing really eek one of those things that amaze me every single time... I strongly reccomend it won't irritate even the most fragile skin, and I guess it feels more like stroking than grooming so the ones who dislike brushes will be ok with it...
