So I've been taking Microgestin Fe 1/20 religiously. The first time I had my cycle it was the most painful and I was in such agony. So I thought maybe my next period wouldn't be so bad, its worse. Just only one side of my body is in great pain. I've been taking my reminder pills because I like knowing that I'm going to have my period but I don't even want to take them. Apparently the fourth week are actually iron pills. (Fe) I guess...I told a friend about them and she was even telling me the amount of pain she was in from taking them. I'm thinking of taking something completely different but I am running out of options. I've been on the Ring, Patch, and Pill. I'm tempted to get the IUD, but I'm really scared about getting it. But it might be my only option left. I'm just tired of feeling this way. Advice anyone?? Thanks!! heart

There are a lot of different kinds of pills, and they have different side effects for different women. So if a couple of kinds didn't work for you, a different kind of pill still might. Side effects from the pill are generally the worst in the first three months that you're on it. After that, they tend to quiet down. So if you don't like the side effects that you have with a pill, wait at least three months before switching to something else, unless your side effects are unbearable.

The IUD is good too. A lot of people have trouble finding a doctor who will give them one if they are young and don't already have children, and getting it put in can be kind of painful from what I hear. But it probably hurts way less than childbirth, it's very effective, and I don't hear many women complain about it after getting it put in.

I have thought about an IUD, because I get really bad mood swings from my birth control (Nuvaring). Its just scary because one of the potential risks is infertility because it can go through the uterine wall .I do want children eventually, just not now.

It definitely is a scary thought. But it is rare for an IUD to cause permanent infertility. And even if it did, that doesn't mean that you couldn't have children. There are many ways that infertile people can become parents. So I wouldn't let that scare you too much if you feel like the IUD might be right for you.
