Paperwork was not something she enjoyed. It didn't provide nearly enough spark to hold her entire interest. But apparently, it was necessary. Though she was highly considering finding a lackey to fill it out for her. To free up her time. Not that she really had such a thing as 'free time'. Such was the responsibility of being a leader.

She still preferred to be on the front lines. Or out on patrols herself. Alas, she had rotations to work out. Men to group together. New recruits to see to. Training to schedule. Ugh!

Nori rubbed at her face, staring at the mound of papers in front of her between her fingers. Maybe she should have gone to the bar again last night.

Glancing about her desk, a unopened letter caught her attention. And her family's crest. Great. What did they want now? She tapped her fingers against it, debating on reading it now and getting it over with, or later. Screw this, she needed out of this office! Shoving to her feet, the chair scraping against the floor, Nori rounded her desk and headed for the door. The letter was for the moment, ignored.

She headed towards the training facilities, located just on the outskirts of Lumena. Why not surprise the 'kids' and see how her men were doing? Perhaps test them a little and see how well their training was going? Grinning, Nori made her way quietly about the facility until she was able to watch the Cerberus Knights train. Good. Good. They were hard workers, just as she knew they were.

For the moment, she kept herself out of sight and regarded each one of them, making note of who seemed to be in need of more specialized training and those that were already working well in teams.

Inhaling deeply through his nose and blowing an audible breath back out of his mouth, Azra'iel shook his hair back from his face as he removed the heavy leather practice pads he had donned to assist his father with a training session. Rolling his shoulders, he pulled off his undershirt as well, using it to wipe his face. The session attendees had been new recruits and still too nervous to really fight back against an established Knight, so he had no real bruises or even much soreness, but... better get over those nerves quickly. It will not get them anywhere.

Narrowing his eyes as he looked up toward the sun, the light elemental sent a mental request to his 'familiar,' Shad'ya, the light spirit he had bound to his sword. Since the trainees had not provided much of a challenge, he might as well continue to work on simultaneous casting efforts. Ignoring the lingering trainees and scattered observers, he piled his equipment off to the side.

With Shad'ya assisting, he was able to create a sword made entirely out of light. But he did not use this ability often and when he had, he was unable to do anything but maintain the blade. Helpful in a bad situation; but he would prefer the skill become more instinctive, more practical.

Absently folding his shirt and draping it over his equipment pile, Azra'iel settled on his knees, closing his eyes to meditate as Shad'ya appeared, alighting delicately before him. 'You called, Azra'iel? I sense no danger. What is it you need?' Smiling slightly to himself, he could easily envision the inquisitive tilt to the creature's head. Extending his hand, his mana released as a golden spiral around it, Azra'iel extended an open palm for the spirit's paw. 'We are going to work on making a sword of light, Shay.' Releasing an agreeable, almost musical, chirrup, Shad'ya released her power, aura swirling and body nearly transparent as her witch companion channeled their joint energy into a softly glowing golden sword.

Now that was not so difficult... No, the difficulty came in trying to use more magic while maintaining the sword. But he had never really become acquainted with the weapon itself and figured he could benefit from doing so.

Eyes still closed, Azra'iel rose fluidly to his feet and began a simple solo kata. The light blade made the air hiss pleasantly as he meticulously danced through the specific movements of the training form, moving gracefully through progressively more advanced figures as he learned the balance and character of his and Shad'ya's blade.

A soft and fond smile briefly appeared along her features as she watched the more senior Knights work with the trainees. It was not an expression she was prone to allowing others to see. Especially not the Cerbs. She had worked hard to prove herself capable of leading them and there was no room for any to assume her soft! Quite the opposite, really. Most probably considered her a b***h. But a loyal one.

Her gaze was drawn towards the man that was summoning forth his mana. He looked familiar and it took her several minutes of watching him to recognize him as the son of one of her senior Knights. Impressive. He wielded a sword entirely made of light. And it was evident he was skilled with a sword. But was he skilled with his magic as well?

Nodding to herself, Nori stretched and stepped up onto the ledge of the observation deck she was on. It was definitely time to put some of the trainees skills to the test. As well as their trainers. One had to learn to expect the unexpected.

The first signs of anything shifting down below would have been the increase in the light breeze that had been whispering through the facility. A few probably knew what that meant, if they were paying attention. Always be aware of your surroundings. Nori thought, hands extended before her, palms up. When she felt the caress of the wind around her, the whispers that it was ready, she made a jerking motion, like she was pulling something heavy down. A torrent of billowing wind slammed into the trainees and trainers alike. Followed by the lithe form of the leader of the Cerberus Knights.

"Show me what you have learned." She said coolly, a few of her senior Knights flanking from behind.

A hint of a smile hovered on Azra'iel's lips as every movement allowed him to feel more in-tune with his weapon. With his eyes closed and attention on making the sword an extension of his body, his awareness had been centered solely on his own being. But his smile grew as he was once again able to expand his senses outward; he was starting to understand how maintaining the sword drew out his mana.

A breeze rose, cooling the sweat across his chest and back; but when it died, something felt... off. Golden eyes flashed open, darting toward to observation decks just as a staggering gust of wind appeared to blow a lithe figure from above.

Narrowing his eyes against the winds, the Knight recognized the aloof voice of his supreme commander. He had never had direct interaction with her, but had been present and working with trainees when she spoke to his father on rare occasion. He had heard she sometimes chose to involve herself directly in the training yard to keep her Knights on their toes, but had somehow managed to not encounter this situation yet.

"As you wish." He spoke softly, mostly to himself. Nori was still across the yard with her gathering of senior Knights; but he watched making sure if he caught her eye, she could see his acceptance there.

Sword still in hand, Azra'iel cautiously shifted into a low guard, unsure of what form the test of knowledge might take, but always game for a test of his skills. He would not call himself ruthless, but years of solo missions had begun to harden him, strengthen him, and he would not back down from this challenge.
