Uumi must admit to himself that leaving the prides after falling into the river hadn't been a wise choice at all. But in truth he had needed to get away from it, he didn't like it here because of the things it seemed to make him realize. So he traveled the few days, his paws leading him to his old homelands. He didn't know if it was from just knowing the place or actually being homesick, but for things like that he'd never know.

Not only was he getting sick from his dump into the icey water and long trek with out much food, he'd run into his sister. Surprisingly enough he'd also ran into Denahi. And it was weird, how Denahi had thought him such scum.. but wanted to (and indeed had) started a family with his sister, whome was of the same blood.

He'd managed to piss Denahi off enough to actually be attacked by the stronger male, and currently he had a few gashes on his face, mostly shallow but a few deeper than he would have liked, and a few more hurts near his ribs and shoulders, as well as his back. Uumi had been really stupid this time; sick, starved and beat up. His body couldn't take it much longer, but he kept telling himself he needed to get back to those lands if it was the last thing he did, because he'd prove to Sye he hadn't left for good. Because leaving for a short time was so much better.

He'd made it through the Kusini woods and was just heading through the grasses, but already he was beginning to black out. He stumbled forward, not making one sound of protest, and simply collapsed, eyes shutting and chest movements slowing. Not dead, or anywhere near dying (Well. we hope.), just exhausted. He'd made it back but it did him no good in the manner of which he got back.

Uumi's mind was wandering in and out from fever dreams back into the darkness somewhere inside him had deemed safe. Even though most sick patients might perfer the dreams than the comeplete loneliness. He shuddered as something layed against him, never the one for liking physical contact. But it was different right now, since he was mostly out of it he couldn't get himself worked up to move. Hell, if he was wide awake he'd be too weak to move.

Uumi the endless void surrounding him broke into another odd dream. Why was Syeira talking to him? He couldn't even see her. You shouldn't have done this.." He wanted to sink into those words, the words he didn't understand right now. But something about her voice was even safer than the promised blackness that came and went, almost as if her voice would stay. Thud, thud, thud... He groaned slightly, why was his heart beat so loud? His eyes fluttered open and he gasped slightly, wimpered.

His mind was beginning to grasp what was going on, and he was scared. Terrified, he'd never been this sick with out his sister or mother to care for him. Her voice. Was so. Safe. He shut his eyes again, trying to control his breathing, his fear, his thoughts. "Yes." He croaked out, his voice dry and hesitant, forced and the hints of fear trickled through. He was too tired to stop them, or to argue. He wasn't supposed to let Sye help him. But again, he was too tired.

He should have done what he did. He didn't know why, but that was what happened. So it was supposed to happen. He took a deep breath and dust swhirled up from where they lay, clouded his lungs and he began to cough, hacking and trying to get the tiny particles from irritating his lung. After the small fit he was falling back into a sleep, not a normal sleep but still not an unconcious state. He pressed closer to Sye. Safe, that was what he had to keep thinking.

She knew that he needed water, that he need to cool off, but being where the pair was - she could neither get him in this state to a watering hole or find something sufficient enough to bring him some in. Perhaps if they were nearer the forrest she could have found a cupped leaf of large proportion and coaxed him from his slumber long enough to have him drink, but as it was, she could do neither. With a long sigh, she burried her face against his neck, listening to the 'yes' that made very little sense to her.

True, she and Uumi were never the best of friends, but she did care about the boy. After all, that was the entire reason she had saved him from her father, her brother, and that rogue when they were younger. Even more so now, were those feelings, festering in her heart due to the blood of the child they shared. She needed to take care of Uumi - and who knew, it could be the start of a friendship greater than they could have ever imagined. After all, who else did he have here?

As he wriggled closer to her body, she wrapped her tail around him, trying to do something - anything - that would make her feel less helpless to help him. That's when a small smile of knowing crept over her lips and she began to stir. A whisper was soft in his ear, "I'll be right back," it droned, hoping to break through into the darkness again - and she was gone, off in the direction of the forrest as quickly as she could go.

When she returned, perhaps some half hour later, it was with a sponge of moss - dampened with cold water. She found him easily, laying it over his brow and nosing it properly to stay up on it's own with aid of the cushion of tuft between his ears. There was no more that she could do for him except lay here as a thing of comfort. So, calmly, she lay back down beside him as close as she could. Her head slowly eased down to lay against his, tail curling around his own. In his fever, he needed someone, she knew - and she was the only one around to comfort him and perhaps truly mean it.

And so she stayed that way, until he would wake, and she could rest easier.

As the cool water had soaked on his forehead his own heat transfered into it, and after a while the moss was dry. This seemed to wake up Uumi, his eyes sliding open again. The world was somewhat dizzy, but he thought he could manage. He took deep, careful breaths, trying to get some part of him to feel normal. After a minute he started to murmer "Sye... Are you... awake?" The words were slow and slightly confused, alls he knew was that they should be heading to a cooler spot and some place for him to get water. And now that he rested he thought he could force his body to go about it's way.

He began to move back away from her, trying to get himself onto his paws. He'd wait for her though, he knew he should have her along. He even wanted her along, but that though is what he was ignoring for the most part.

She hadn't slept much, only a fretful haze if that much, and as he began to stir - her attention had drawn itself out from her mind where it lay thinking to instead focus on the sickly prince that undoubtedly needed her care right now. "I'm awake," she breathed, slowly pushing herself up onto her strong quads, staring down at the eyes of the weak thing.

She didn't want him moving without her help, she still wasn't sure that he could support himself. Slowly, she moved forward, using her weight to help him stand - for once not offering him some cruel retort or mean remark. She was lending a helping hand - but if it was because he was sick or for some other hidden emotion, it was undetermineable. She was just.. helping him.

His eyes flicked away from her once she was helping him, and they began their trek toward the nearest watering hole with out much chattering. Actually, it was pretty silent. Which was almost unnerving to his sickly mind, they were supposed to be arguing. AEven if he was in this state.

Once they finally got to the watering hole Uumi moved carefully to the edge, swaying slightly as he lowered himself back to a laying position, and lapped up the murky water. He drank for quite a while, but already he wanted to sleep again.

She didn't much mind the silence, after all, she was much more interested in concentrating all her will power on the poor thing - making sure he never swayed too much or got to weary. It was a slow pace that carried them, but they made it never the less. She didn't mind not arguing, for once, but maybe that was because she figured he didn't have the strength to bring himself around to it. Once he got settled down again, though, she was busy setting to work.

He needed to stay as close as she could keep him to the watering hole, so that he didn't ever have to move far to get himself some water, or she didn't have to think of some clever way to cool him down if his fever spiked again. Still, the idea of him laying on the muddy banks was unnerving - the cold, wet of the liquid dirt would seep into his flesh and only make him all the sicker. All the weaker. So, as he drank, she had begun to tear down the tallest, thickest of the rushes.

It was a slow process, she had to admit, finding a few suitable and latching her teeth around them - then the pulling backwards until they were uprooted. A few splintered in the middle, which only developed in a curse under her breath, since they were automatically useless. By the time she was done with the masterpiece, however, she had mounded a bed of rushes next to the watering hole - too thick for water to seep through and large enough that she could lay at his side so that she wasn't too far away when he needed her help.

Even if he didn't want to admit, not aloud anyway, he needed her right now.

"Here, Uumi," she breathed softly, moving over to his side in case he once again needed her help in getting to his feet. "Go lay back down, you still need to rest," her voice was that cooing, gentle lyric it always was - but this time it intermingled with a caring, an undertone that could calm anyway. The tone of a mother's voice, learned from her son and all the days he was in need of her attention. After all, he'd taken after his father in his sickness. Never quite this badly, though. She leaned down, nosing his neck, as if that could initiate his will power to get up once more.

Just a few steps and he could go to sleep, perhaps a bit more comfortable than the last time.

He took no notice of all the hard work she was doing, but you really couldn't blame him because of the state he was in now. Her words were once again lost on him as she tried to tell him something, he just wanted to fall asleep. He growled slightly as she nosed at him and tried to shift away. But that was too much work. He muttered and slowly got himself back to all fours, leaning against her when he was fully up.

He hissed slightly as he made his way to the mat-bed thing and lowered himself onto that. After a moment he was fast asleep already, body sometimes twitching as his mind sorted through troubling dreams. But already he seemed to be getting better, even if it was hard to tell.

Once she had gotten the sickly thing settled again, she smiled, watching him fall back into his slumber - which was slightly better than it had been the first time around. He was calmer, more like it was sleeping and less like a nightmare dominating his mind. Still, when he woke up, he would be hungry she suspected - so with only the softest reassuring nuzzle to his neck, she whispered slowly, "I'll be back soon." And then she was gone, for an hour, maybe more.

When she finally did return, though, she was dragging a rather hefty deer carcass. Not a buck, but a large doe, thick with muscular meat - but not as tough as a male of such size would undoubtedly be. Slowly, teeth clamped down around the scruff of her neck, she brought it close - then collapsed beside him on the mat to regain her will through heaving breaths.

While she was gone his sleep had become less fitful and he'd gone into the deeper state, not dreaming any longer. When the metalic scent of blood entered his nostrils though his brow wrinkled and after a few minutes he took a deep breath, awakening. He seemed to be doing much better, still weak and feeling like s**t but not exauhsted or dehydrated.

His blury gaze took a moment to foccus, and he stared at the carcuss strangly. He was hungry, he knew that. His head swung around and he watched Sye a moment, a frown evident on his features. He sighed and pulled himself up a little. He moved past her and ripped away some of the meat, eating a few bits here and there. After he was satisfied he sat again, taking deep breaths. In the middle of one he yawned, jaws cracking.

He swallowed and glanced again to Sye, the frown flickering into something else, but it had come and gone too quickly to tell what it was. "...why are you doing this?" He finally murmered, laying back down near her but not watching her any longer.

A soft yawn spread her own jaws, caught from his own, but her eyes were as clear and wide as if she'd slept for days and finally awoken renewed and refreshed. She glanced to him, sidewards, tail flicking slowly as she heard him speak - heard his question.

In truth, she didn't even really know why herself, it just seemed like something she had to do. He was here because of her. He was staying because of her. He came back because of her. Just to prove her wrong, because that was the type of person he had become - because of her. She felt guilty, almost, tearing him away from everything he knew through her games. He needed her then, and she wouldn't be selfish. Not this time.

"Because it's my fault you even have to be here," she breathed, slowly dropping her eyes with a soft shrugging roll of her prominent shoulders. "And I don't hate you, Uumi, even though you and everyone else may think so. Truthfully, I respect you, even if I have problems showing that to you sometimes."

He stared off into the tall grasses, gaze following their movements from each gentle breeze that passed by. "Tcht." The sound irritated his throat a little, and he remained silent after it for several more minutes. "You seem to have the.... idea that you control me, Syeira." He was slow in his words, he had to be careful not to excite himself or anger himself, for that would upset his breathing too quickly right now. "I have a mind and I made the decision to.. t.." He hesitated, swallowed. "To do what I did to you." He paused to let that sink in. "I chose, myself and not you, to come here to see what had come from that... situation. I chose to leave here after falling in freezing water, and to come back even after getting the s**t beat out of... me from your... brother. You see?" He was getting angry anyhow, he couldn't help it. Why was she trying to take the damn blame? It was his choosing and his actions that led him to where he was, even if they were derived from her games.

His tail flicked irritably, eyes shutting as she went on. She didn't hate him? Why did that make him so unbelievably uncomfortable? It was an odd feeling, not at all an unagreeable feeling.. just foreign, and frightening. "You make it seem as though i'm... stupid. If you... hated me.. we would have been... done with this.. game long ago." He murmered quietly, areas perking slightly as he lay with his eyes shut, listening for her reply.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 12, 2006 2:42 pm

She frowned as she heard what he said about her brother - he had seen Denahi. She hadn't seen him since he left, and she surely didn't know that he had beaten Uumi up. She figured he would, though, if he ever got Uumi alone. Though, she'd never actually stopped to think it would happen. Everything else, combined with that, was enough to explain to her why he was suddenly so bad off - so sick. With a simple little sigh she moved closer, leaning brush her muzzle against his neck. He was working himself up again, and he didn't need to do that right now, "Calm down, please."

With a deep breath, though, she gazed up - directly looking into his eyes for the first time since this entire conversation had started, "nothing would have happened, Uumi, if I didn't play those games with you. They were your decisions, yes, but if I wasn't who I am - then you wouldn't have to make them." She frowned, a sudden pulse of guilt clouding her eyes as she dropped then, glancing away. "I never hated you, I was just unkind because that's what I am. Though, I always picked more on you than anyone else - even if everyone else I despised," she murmured.

With one deep, hard breath, she forced her eyes up again, "Uumi, please don't stay here and punish yourself just to prove me wrong. I know now that what I've said and done was unkind to you, more than anything else I could have done - but I'm saying it to you now," she murmured, her eyes - watering? Was Syeira crying? Oh god, when did she learn how to do that? "don't stay here and be miserable, Uumi, go home and be with the ones you love, be with your family."

Uumi flinched away from the small touch from her, honestly. You'd think she knew that he hated physical contact. Though he was beginning to realize it wasn't so bad when it came from Sye, he could stand it from a few lions.

Great. What was with females and their silly heart-to-hearts? He just smirked slightly, listening to her admitions. When her eyes met his though his smirk turned into a little frown, a sad frown that he couldn't cover up if he tried. "Sye, so unlike you." Was all he murmered, watching her still. Watching her as she looked away, in shame? This was just making him feel awkward.

His eyes widened ever so slightly when she begged him not to stay here. Why did he suddenly think that was the worst idea in the world, leaving? He took a deep breath, and just forced out a little laugh, shaking his head. But he looked away, frowning moodily at the sky. He was about to tell her that his family didn't care, and he had no clue where his twin was anymore. But instead he thought it best to change the subject. Why did he want to stay? "You're an aunt."
