Note: This is a back RP from when we realized Dante's domain was already taken and he wouldn't be able to keep it. I had obtained permission for him to have had the sun domain and fall... but we fell out of the habit of RPing these two around that time and are only hopping back on it now. Ignore his cert. I'm having it replaced.

Dante landed, his head hanging, then walked toward the lake. He should have known better. He'd been so full of himself... And now he had nothing.

Ravyn watched him land, still a bit uncertain of how she felt about him. He had saved her, and he had stayed with her while she healed, but she was still a bit wary of him.

She approached him slowly. "Welcome back,.."

He glanced over his shoulder at her, then turned away to slip into the pool.

She looked down when he ignored her. What was it about this stallion? She would never accept a slight such as this from any other. Letting out a sigh she lowered her head to drink from the pool.

He walked out into the deeper water, almost wishing he could just drown himself. How had he ever imagined that he was above anyone?

Ravyn watched him closely, her brow furrowed. What in the world was he doing?

He knelt down so only his head was above water and closed his eyes. The water was warm at least. It felt good.

After a moment of watching him, Ravyn eased herself into the water. It felt nice on her aching wing and she made her way over to Dante. When she reached him she didn't have to knel like he did, the water was almost too high. A bit nervous, she nosed him with her nose, trying to use her wings to keep her balance.

He turned his head to look at her, but remained silent. At this distance the sorrowful expression on his face was clear.

It broke her heart to see him like that. Before she thought better of it, she scooted closer to him and rubbed her cheek against the side of his neck, unsure what to say.

His eyes shut again, but he smiled. She was fine, healing. That much was good.

"Have I thanked you?" she murmured, keeping her side pressed against his. She had to strain to keep her head up above the water.

"I don't remember," he said the words very carefully.

"Well, thank you. I owe you my life." She turned her head to nuzzle him again. She didn't know what had come over her, she'd never ben so gentle in her life.

"You owe me nothing," he said, looking at her again.

"I do," she said, tilting her head up to look at him. "They would have killed me if not for you."

"Really, Ravyn... Forget about it. You don't need to do anything."

She nodded slowly. "I just wanted to express my gratitude to you."

"Do you want to move to a shallower part of the pool?"

"Um. Yes. Would you mind?"

"No," he said, voice soft, almost a whisper. "We can move."

"Thank you," she smiled and scooted slowly back toward the shore.

He kept close beside her, his smile fading the moment she looked away.

She kept her flank pressed to his and stopped when she could easily reach bottom. "This is much better," she told him, turning her head to look up at him.

He settled down next to her and closed his eyes again.

She rested her head across his back and sighed softly. She had no idea how to cheer him up, but she found she desperately wanted to.

He remained in place, silent, going over recent events over and over in his mind, looking for something he could do revert everything back.

Ravyn skirted around so she was under one of his great wings. "Please smile," she said finally. "You are so handsome when you smile."

He turned his head to look down at her again, but not for long.

"There is nothing to smile for," he said, voice cracking.

"You are still alive," she told him, scooting a bit forward so she could see his face. "They could have killed you."

"Would have been just as well," trying harder now to keep his composure.

"No," she said firmly. "No, it would not." She nosed his cheek.

"It's worse than you understand," he said, shaking his head.

"Tell me. Make me understand."

He took a deep breath, "I have lost my domain."

She nodded her head, giving him a small smile. "Yes, go on."

"Go on! What else is there to say! It is gone! Everything I am... Was..."

"You are still everything you were. Yes, you have lost the powers, but you are still you."

He stood up, "You are an ignorant, cruel mare."

She shrunk back from him, looking hurt. "I didn't mean to offend..."

He walked out of the water, "It was at the core of me. I would have laughed at the thought of losing it."

She remained where she was, hanging her head. "I am sorry..."

"If you have any decency in you you'll allow me time to mourn. I need to come to terms with this," he turned to walk away.

She flinched and cowered, her body low in the water. "I was only trying to help.."

"You ought to find a unicorn to help heal that wing," he shook himself off.

"I don't know where to find one..."

He sighed, "Neither do I..."

"A unicorn would not help me anyway." She sighed, looking away. "You can go, if you like."

He nodded, then left, heading back to the cave they'd been sharing.

She sighed and let her wings droop into the water. She didn't know how to help him.

Dante woke to Ravyn's warm body pressed up against his. He wasn't entirely sure where she'd gotten the idea, but he certainly didn't mind it.

It had been cold in the night, and Dante was so warm. Plus, she felt safe with her body against his.

He nudged her, grinning, "Falling in love?" It was the first time his sense of humor had really resurfaced since his realization.

She stirred when he nudged her. "Hm?" Her face went hot. "What? No!"

He laughed, then dropped to a deeper, more soothing tone as he nuzzled her, "Are you sure~?"

"No," she snapped, rolling away. "You're just warm!"

"Pity~" he teased, doing his best to look disappointed.

She gave him a wary look. "Pity..?"

"I thought you liked me," he smiled.

She wasn't sure how to respond. "And if I did?"

"Well you are quite pretty."

"I am?" she echoed, eyes wide.

"Has no one ever told you that before?"

"No..." She frowned at him, thinking he must be playing a trick on her.

"Well you are," he grinned, rather enjoying her reaction.

"Okay," she said, at a loss for words. She looked away.

"Did I say something wrong?"

"I don't like being toyed with."

"Why would I toy with you?"

"Why would you say I was pretty?"

"Because I'm not a liar?"

She frowned at him, still not sure if she believed him. "Okay."

"With you're wing healed you won't be needing my company much longer."

She looked inexplicably hurt by those words. "I suppose not..."

"Would you consider staying anyways?"

"You want me to stay?"

"Well, not here. I miss my home glade, would you return there with me?"

She looked surprised, but she nodded, not trusting her words.

He walked closer so he could nuzzle her.

A small smile made it's way across her face and she returned the nuzzle. She would not admit that she was falling for him...but this was certainly nice.

"Would you be able to fly today?"

"I could try."

"Try a short flight. I wish to leave this place."

She nodded and got to her feet.

"Be honest though, it won't be a short flight and you won't make it if you're not healed."

She nodded again and headed for the cave's entrance. Her wing felt better than it had in ages, but she was still uncertain how it would fare flying.

She shuffled her wings anxiously and took a deep breath. She could do this. It was time.

He took a few great strides, then passed her as he lept into the air. Once he was satisfied with the quick survey he'd done he circled back around to land beside her, "Would you rather take off from the ground, or from a ledge?"

The ledge would require less effort to enter a glide, but the ground was by far safer.

"Ah--The ground." If she couldn't fly, she would fall from the ledge and the results could be disastrous.

She looked up at him, still nervous.

Dante nodded, "This place is as good as any."

She nodded and took a deep breath again. She could do this. Glancing one more time at Dante, she took a few running strides and jumped into the air. She fumbled at first, but finally she righted herself and flew.

He chased along behind her, leaping into the air himself once he was sure she was stable.

"How does it feel?"

"Wonderful," she breathed. She'd missed this, the wind beneath her wings.

He smiled as he watched her fly along, "Really is pretty. When you fly."

She could feel the burn creep up her cheeks again. "Stop that."

"Stop what?"

"Flattering me."

"Why~?" he asked, drawing the word out.

"I don;t know how to respond."

"Give me one of those pretty smiles."

She looked away instead, her cheeks so hot.

"Oh come now," he teased. "Smile for me~."

She gave him a thin lipped smile.

"Thank you~" he said, honestly.

He turned to follow her to the ground.

"We will need to rest along the way," she told him when he landed "But I believe I can fly."

"When would you like to set out?"

She gave him a soft smile. "Whenever you are ready."

"Now?" he cocked his head.

"Ah, sure."

"Let's go to the pool and drink some before we head out."

"Okay," she said and turned to walk down there.

He followed, glad they were finally ready go to home. It was the first good thing he could remember happening since he'd rescued her.

Reaching the pool, Ravyn dipped her head to lap at the water.

Dante stood next to her, doing the same. When he was sated he lifted his head, "Where's that bird of yours?"

"Paean? I don't know," she said, frowning. She looked up at Dante for a moment, then whistled for the bird.

"I wouldn't want to leave him with no way to find us."

She nodded, looking up at the sky as she waited for the bird to come.

Dante looked up at the sky, looking for Paean's approach.

After a moment the bird appeared, perching on Dante's back. Ravyn giggled.

He folded his wings, turning his head as far as he could to look at him.

"We're leaving."

The crow tilted his head at Dante, but was silent.

He sighed, "Ravyn, can you tell him?"

Ravyn looked amused. "He understood you."
The bird hopped over to her back and garbled in her ear.

His ears flopped back, "Right! Ready when you are!"

"Don't mind him." She nodded to the bird and he took into the air. "Lead the way."

He nodded then took off. First he flew a loop to orient himself then he called back to Ravyn, "This way!"

Ravyn smiled a small smile to herself and took flight once more to follow.

Dante flew ahead not looking back, trusting her to call out when she needed to land.

Ravyn flew not too far behind him, Paean beside her. Dante looked magnificent flying ahead. She liked to look at him.
