He collapsed onto the worn couch with a heavy sigh, glancing around the recently criticized apartment. Ok… maybe it was a piece of s**t; Maybe he should consider that other place a little harder. Space was tight, and there was at least some worry that he might get mugged on the way to work. It would be rather hard to justify powering up to defend your sort of pathetic pocket book.
And… and Ever was back, would he stay here? Go back to the little rooms over the Restaurant? He wasn’t sure he was quite up to asking yet. He rubbed his eyes and glanced towards the kitchen and pondered, trying to remember what he had for left overs since the stove seemed to have decided that ‘broil’ was the only setting it would respond to.
Not that he was a stellar cook.
If he remembered right, the options for dinner were…ramen again, potentially rancid left over eggrolls, which he hated, and ordering out again. He leaned over the arm of the couch and found the phone and punched in the numbers even as he fished out his wallet and winced, waiting to hear the specials.
He ordered the cheapest thing he could that would still leave leftovers and considered it a good deal all the same, got the estimated time, figured a rather slim tip and tacked it with a pin by the door so he wouldn’t forget it somewhere before retreating into the kitchen and finding a can of soda.

Ever would appear, likely, after the food had been eaten and put away, after Zac had settled in, as he was drifting halfway off to sleep. It'd be at the door, knocking in a staccato sort of way: he'd forgotten to get a key before going out, and was overwhelmed by a strange paranoia at the idea of teleporting into Zac's small space.
He also smelled strongly of cigarettes and alcohol, when Zac opened the door, and flashed a sudden too-wide smile. Swiped hair up out of his face. "I found your missing senshi."
He eased in as he said it, catching Zac around the waist. It had to be the alcohol, making him amorous enough to steal a kiss while the door was still open.

“Oh…. good!” he said blinking in some small surprise that it had been done, and so quickly. “Well done.” He added into this kiss, returning it in kind after the congratulations had been given.
“Come on in? I have some pizza left… “ He offered. “You smell like…well, you smell like you I guess.” He admitted.
“It’s good to have you back.” He tugged Ever’s shirt a little before latching a finger around a belt loop and pulling him in. Ever, he generally assumed, was worse about eating than he was.

Ever hummed, distractedly reaching out to swing the door closed behind him as he followed Zac's lead, perfectly content in exactly this moment in time.
"He was at a bar." Which explained the booze, yes, and the cigarette too, and how late he was now. Also probably showed that he hadn't eaten, but he wouldn't think of it. Not until his stomach grumbled at the smell of reheated cheese and tomato sauce. Then he'd launch into it.
"Seemed unsure about what was going on. And. Uh. Unhappy with his living situation." It was mumbled around a piece of pizza, leaning in against Zac.

“I can understand that.” Zac said after a moment and shoved a soda into the mix, it should likely have been water to help take the edge off potential hangovers, but that wasn’t what he had grabbed at the time.
“On multiple levels.” He added wryly as he glanced around the apartment.
“If I moved to a new place…” He started and stopped mid thought. “Well… I mean.” He started and stopped again, not totally sure what he meant, but bent to rest his head against Ever and sighed softly. Not a discontent sound, just a thoughtful one.
“I suppose I shouldn’t have expected Tag to do the explaining.” He admitted with a sigh. “I swear, we need a ‘welcome to the Negaverse’ committee.”

"I worked on it some." Mumbled around the food, as Ever dropped down to sit, perched on the edge of the kitchen counter. He was tall enough to do it -- probably a bit frustrating for Zac. Living with a giant. But Ever smiled down at him as he took the soda as well.
"Though I'm not the best. I don't have the, uh." He didn't say the madness. Or the dedication. Instead he floundered for words. "The fervor that some people have. But I explained the situation, at least."
He took another bite, thinking about it. "Would have offered him my old place, but Drew's thoroughly taken it over."

Zac laughed sharply. “Drew is…” he started and arched an eyebrow growing silent again, declining more pointedly to finish that thought.
“Maybe we need someone who can lay it out without the fervor anyhow.” He shrugged. “Strait forward can be better than manic after all? I mean, if I judged all this by how I was recruited…” he laughed and rolled his eyes.
“… So if Drew took YOUR old place, you’re staying… where tonight?”
An interested look, maybe, you could interpret it as hopeful.

"Same place I've been staying, I thought." His eyes flicked sideways to Zac's tiny bed and he made just a little bit of a face: it was too small. Twin for two people just didn't work. Well. Maybe it would. for two Zac-sized people. But when one was a giant....
All at one, though, he blinked into himself. Tipped his head to look down at Zac, eyes narrowed just a little bit. Teasing, flirting, a bit of both, but maybe it was covering a sudden hesitation. "Unless you want me to scram."

Zac shook his head. “No, just wanted to be sure.” He let the set of his shoulders ease a little, tension he hadn’t really been thinking about slipping free.
“if we had room in here, I’d say we needed a bigger bed.” He admitted. He tilted his head back and hooked a finger in the collar of Ever’s shirt. ‘C’mere’ he ordered and tugged ever down enough that, standing on his toes he could kiss him.
“Too damned tall as it is.” He scolded. “Like you need the counter to help.”

Ever slid off the edge of the counter smoothly, humming: he tasted like vodka, still, cigarettes and pizza, fingertips light against Zac's hip.
"I still don't know...don't know what to do with myself." It came out slow, distracted, Ever working to put his thoughts back together. Eyes mostly closed, it was hard to really worry about it. "No chance of hopping back on at the library, and all my students've probably moved on, though my French is keen right now..."

“Try at the college maybe, or…maybe we can both take jobs at that apartment thing I’m looking at, they must have some kind of opening…. I’m sure if you wanted one you could have your own place again…”
’Is my accent still terrible? Zac asks in his slightly broken high school French, loaded heavily with ‘American accent’

"Ouais." It came with a little bit of a laugh -- but not displeased, the very tips of his fingers tucked up into the back of Zac's shirt. Cool against his skin. Likely startlingly cool.
"You don't have to. Though it's very entertaining." At least Ever didn't say it was 'cute'. His grin, maybe, covered that. At least in part. He pulled Zac forward just a little step. "I could teach you. If you can afford it."

“Mmm… well, how much are you charging? Do I get a discount for room and board?” He slipped arms around Ever’s waist, tilting his head like a little owl, playful.
“You never know, French could come in handy one day, like… Navajo wind talkers but, but more frog legs or something.”
“Its good to have you back.”
Words dangerously close to ‘I missed you.’

A sound; he didn't answer that last, didn't want to touch it with a ten-foot pole, even tipsy and distracted and blurry and comfortable as he was. It fell into the same line as certain words he'd refused to used with Dustin --
"...I don't think French would ever be useful for you. You don't need to talk to anyone, you can just beat the crap out of them." Bemused, he tilted his head to settle his forehead in against Zac's.
"What's the apartment thing? Bigger than this?"
