Briella's experience with men was pretty much nonexistent. Sure she had met and talked to Biroki more then once, but he was just like a girl, if anything he was more 'girly' then some of the female Earthlings she had met. She wasn't sure what she had expected, but she had thought they would be different. She didn't see the appeal in them really. Then again, maybe they weren't all like the whimpering male Earthling she met.

Since then she had ventured closer and closer to where she knew Earthlings lived. She wanted to meet another male, see what they were all about. As always, Amadi was at her side flying through the trees and pointing her in directions that he thought fun things would be. Sometimes he brought her to fruits or food, but mostly he brought her to odd trinkets and things that would never be useful to her. Sometimes she brought them home for Dyakida to use in her weapons, but most of them were gathering dust in her room.

Today Amadi was bring more persistent then normal, and when jumping from tree top to tree top he turned and put one finger to his mouth. "Are you telling me to be quiet?" the Alkidike asked and was about to laugh before the sprite put all his hands in her mouth. "Okay, I'll be quiet" she whispered before he flew off again. What were they after?

[ aldr ] Aldr sighs in his place within the branches of a particularly sprawling tree; eyes bored as he watches over the landscape he'd known since the very beginning of his existence. Occasionally, long fingers pick a tiny unripe fruit from the branches around him and sling it towards an unknowing animal or two; frowning when it scurries or- in some cases- flies away. He is bored. Deadly so. It'd been a few days since his return to Jahuar after a particularly long hike that had lasted two or three days and brought him to the middle of Tale and back and, as always, the elders weren't particularly happy with his sudden disappearance and he'd received a lecture about his 'selfish and reckless ways'.

Mostly because he hadn't brought back anything of interest.

"Hypocrites." He accuses softly to himself; plucking a purple fruit from its place on the tree and tossing it straight at a tiny blue creature he thought was a common bird. When it retaliates, however, he quickly realizes his mistake.

"Ack!" The blue-gray skinned male swats his hand towards the tiny pixie, knocking it away from the grip the thing had on his silver-colored hair. It bit as his finger, drawing blood, and made a crude gesture; sticking its blue tongue out before zipping off into the trees, tiny wings moving at such a quick pace they blurred. Had it been any other day, Aldr would have frowned and fumed quietly to himself about disrespectful little ticks... but, it was not just another day. He was bored, and now? Now he was angry.

"You better be good at hiding, little tick!" He yells, jumping from his place in the tree and landing with an easy crouch; taking off at a sprint in order to try and catch up with the thing, a smirk forming on his dark face as he catches sight of it. "Found you..." He murmurs, pushing himself faster and faster until- wham!- he's on his back, the trees above him swirling into a blur of colors. Groaning, he sits up; eyebrows raising when he spots an Alkidide woman on the ground in front of him. A woman he had, undoubtedly, just ran right into. Immediately, his hand goes to the dagger at his thigh; fingers curling around its handle as he jumps up into a crouch and unsheathes the shiny silver thing.

"What's your reason for being here, Alkidike?" He asks, eyes narrowed and untrusting. "This is shifter territory, if you hadn't noticed."

And then she lost him. Briella was about to call out for Amadi when she remembered that he had told her to be quiet. All of a sudden he was flying towards her, and with a man in tow. Briella smiled. Oh how she loved Amadi. However this male seemed mad, and at Amadi none the less. Oh well, at least mad was better then scared.

When he got close enough she jumped down to the floor in just the right second, only giving her time enough to brace herself as the Earthling male ran into her. She started laughing right away. "Fast, but not all that bright." she said with a light laugh towards Amadi. Really now, he should have slowed down before getting to her. Maybe it he wasn't so focused on Amadi he would have seen her there. She had remembered seeing the other male running as well, maybe it was a thing that Earthlings liked to do, run. Run and not pay attention to the things around them.

Then his hand was on a dagger and she smiled. Oh yes, this one was much different then the one she met before. "My reason? I don't need a reason. And all of Jahuar belongs to my sisters and I. We can go as we please. Plus, Amadi and were just taking a little stroll." she said with a light in her eyes. Oh this was fun. Amadi landed on her shoulder, holding a piece of her hair to help himself balance. He stuck his tongue out at the male once more. "He likes you." she said very matter of factly. Amadi only played tricks on people he liked, she would know.

Aldr frowned at the woman, letting his eyes scan her lean form- the tattoos, the makeup, the attennae. He'd never encountered an Alkidike before; not as close as he was now, and he didn't know what, exactly, he'd been expecting- but it wasn't this. She didn't look all that tough- if anything, she looked rather fragile, hiding behind all those markings. Her tone, however, spoke otherwise. He didn't need a lecture from her, nor was he required to sit there and take one like he was with the elders. He could speak freely, and that- for him- was as much as a weapon as the dagger held tight in his hand was.

"I've been here longer than you, Alkidike." He says, voice taking on a calm sort of tone- anger evident in the way he had his eyes locked on her dark ones. "I know this land better than you know your own reflection... yet you call it your's?" Aldr scoffs, eyeing the female with a look of disdain. "Just like your pixie, you are nothing but a mischievous little tick."

He still had his hand on the dagger, and didn't seem to happy. She smiled before taking the two swords that were strapped to her back and holding one in each hand. Oh he was mad, and although she didn't want a fight it would tell her more about the Earthlings. She thought of this whole thing as a learning experience of sorts. "Oh yeah? And how would you know how long I've been here? Are you the eyes of the forest? Able to know exactly when I came? For if that is the care I am very surprised that you ran into me." she asked raising one eye brow.

He did seem older then her, but by nothing more then a year if that. Then again you could never tell with Earthlings really. He could be a few years her senior or junior. "Tick? What a strange choice of word... And although yes, I will admit that Amadi is pretty mischievous, which is evident in his actions, I would love to know how you've also decided to label me the same?" Oh this was fun. She took a step to the side, she was trying to get a better look at his ears and hair. The gauges in his ears as well as the way his hair was cut was interesting to her. Especially the gauges.

Aldr eyes the blades as they are unsheathed; taking into account everything he possibly could, just as his father had once taught him. Their length, their curve, the way she held them (confident, on her way to mastery most likely). Readjusting his grip on his own blade, Aldr crouched slightly; knees bending into the stance he'd been drilled into knowing. Though he had no intentions when it came to becoming one of the Shifters' numerous foot soldiers, he knew enough to get by. If it came down to it, he could at least injure her and backtrack his way to the village. He'd only ever sparred amongst his tribe, but he was confident enough that he could at least defend her blows. At least... he hoped he could.

"Unless you've lived in a tunnel beneath the ground all your life, Alkidike, I would know your face; and I haven't seen it. Maybe you're not as green to this jungle as I thought, but you're new enough. Call it... intuition." He didn't know her age, nor did he know her status among her fellow Alkidikes- but, really, neither mattered to him. She was condescending and proud, and he was as hypocritical as his elders. Though the two were obviously so much alike, he could find nothing about her that might inspire friendship. She was his enemy, a stranger, and she didn't seem to be very kind. "Mischievous, because you jumped from the tree in order to trip me up; perhaps even had your little pixie lure me here. A tick because you make claim to something that is not your's." He keeps his eyes on her's; watching her watch him. He wouldn't make the first blow, and it seemed she wouldn't either. She only looked... entertained, curious. Perhaps...

Aldr slips the dagger back into its sheath though does not button it into place, lifting from his crouch and pushing his hair away from his forehead; eyes still guarded, but pose more relaxed. He doesn't speak, just watches; waiting to see if she'll put her blades away as he had.

She nodded as he talked, paying more attention to the way that he looked then what he was saying if she was being totally honest. However when the hand he had his dagger in moved she was back on alert. She was confident that if it came down to it she could take him in a fight, and if she couldn't well Amadi could go get Maya, or even Niebet if she had to, for help. She knew that her sisters would come to her aid and then no one would stand a chance. When he put it a way she smiled, so it would not come to a fight. This she was happy about it, her intention was not to fight him but to get to know him better, well his gender and species.

"And who is to say I haven't lived in this tunnel?" she said with a laugh. "Or that the only reason you haven't seen me is that before now I tended to stay closer to my home tree, of which you have never been near since you are living." she said with a shrug. It wasn't a threat, just a fact. She was sure that Niebet would be trigger happy enough that if he was close to their home tree she would have killed him.

"And I didn't jump down to trip you entirely. I was merely protecting my companion. You would have caught him soon if I had not interfered." she shrugged again. It was then that she put her blades back on her back. She could reach them pretty quickly if she could, hopefully quickly enough, but she felt like it wouldn't come to that. "As for laying claim to what is not mine, you did the same. If we were honest with ourselves this forest doesn't really belong to no one but itself. So by your logic, you are also a tick." This was fun. She was more and more thankful to Amadi for bringing her this man with every passing second.

Aldr frowns, regarding the woman with a quiet distaste simmering in his eyes. She was brash and vain, and though it was hypocritical of him, he didn't care for it. Curiosity, however, kept him talking to her. Like aforementioned, he'd never been able to get so close to an Alkidike before. Questions swirled around in his head like bugs around a fire. When she didn't put away her blades right away, he wondered if he'd made a mistake in his half-second change of heart. Would she cut him down to size right then and there? His fingers itched to reach back for his daggers, but he knew better. He wouldn't grab him until she swung. Having a good hold on the element of surprise was always a smart idea, especially when it came to the battle-wary Alkidikes.

He rolls his shoulders, flexes his fingers. Both habits brought on by too much thinking and too little movement. "You're mistaken, Alkidike. I never laid claim to this forest." His eyes are twin flames, challenge crackling in his gaze. "I'd said I knew it better than you, as I've traveled all through it... whereas you, it seems, haven't left your little tree." A tree of which he'd definitely have to inform the Elders of. Having Alkidikes so near to the village, under their very noses, wasn't a very happy thought. Especially if they all had the same mindset as the one across from him. Licking his bottom lip, Aldr leans sideways against the tree; comforted by the fact that his current companion had slipped her weapons away as well. Judging by the smooth muscles in her arms and the confidence in her eyes, she had no qualms when it came to using them. He'd definitely dodged a battle by sheathing his daggers.

"So," he murmurs, a smooth smirk curling one side of his mouth upwards. "What are you called, Alkidike?"

Briella smiled at his reply to her. He was smart, almost as smart as some of her sisters. Talking to him made it hard to believe that they were a totally different species, well almost totally different. She had heard of halfbreeds, well she even knew one now with Maya's little one. So it had to be possible that they could breed and if they could breed they couldn't be totally different species. Right? "You are right, you never claimed it." she admitted with a sparkle in her eye. She was not one who liked to be wrong, but at the same time she wasn't one to foolishly pretend to be right when she knew she was wrong. "However you are wrong in saying that I haven't traveled far from my tree. This place is just very, very far from my home tree. And typically I wouldn't venture so close to your people's homes." she wasn't stupid. If she was close to her home then she wouldn't have put away her swords, plus they wouldn't have made a home so close to the shifters.

When he asked what she was called she smiled. "I am called by my name, Shifter. Isn't that what you are called by?" she teased with good intentions. She wanted to be careful, she didn't want to do something to make him leave, and although his eyes seemed to challenge her very being she wasn't so sure about him. After looking him over again, My name is Briella. And yours? If that is what they call you by." she said her smile reaching from ear to ear. She really liked his hair, she was wondering if Maya or the Elder could cut her hair in a similar style.
