Stats & EXP

What are stats?

Stats determine how your character functions in specific areas. The higher the stat, the better they are in that area. Stronger characters and monsters have higher stats, and if you want to have a chance at beating them in a fight, you want those stats too. You can still win a fight with lower stats if you have more skill than your opponent, but the larger the gap, the easier it will be for them to bowl right over you. For convenience, a short description of each stat is listed below.

Strength
► Strength is quite simply your character's physical strength. A character can lift or carry up to ten pounds per strength point, and some items or techniques may require certain strength levels to use. In combat you will also often put your strength up against your opponent's to see who comes out on top.

Armor
► The Armor stat is only influenced by equipment, skills, and racial traits. You can't put SP into increasing this stat. A high armor stat dictates how resistant you are to damage. If an attack hits your armor instead of your body, it's power, and thusly the damage you take, will be reduced in equal amount to your armor stat.

Agility
► Agility determines how quickly you can move. A high agility level will have you outrunning all your enemies, or simply dancing around their attacks in close range. Such traits as balance also fall under agility, when they are required. Some obstacles in dungeons might also require certain agility levels to pass.

Dexterity
► If Agility is how quick you move, Dexterity is how accurate you are. Ranged weapons, fine swordsmanship, intricate martial arts, or even just untying a rope, dexterity will determine how accurately, and how quickly, you can do it.

Intelligence
► Intelligence is not a measure of how smart you are, but how strong your mind is. It is not what you know, but how capable you are of learning. Learning some skills, mostly magical spells, will require certain levels of intelligence. Spells and skills that have an effect on the mind are also effected by this stat, with a high intelligence being able to resist or even block attempts at mind control.

Magic
► The Magic stat is how powerful your magic techniques are. Some skills may require certain levels to learn or use, while others will use the stat to determine how powerful they are. A powerful mage is easily as dangerous as a skilled warrior, and this is their stat of choice.

Energy
► Energy, Ki, Chakra, Mana, or whatever else you care to call it, Energy is what powers any skills that require that extra touch. Magic users especially will want high energy levels, as spells drain energy quickly. Think of Energy as your MP bar in a typical RPG. Energy can be regained by spending a full post resting, at the same rate as Endurance, or by the use of potions.

Endurance
► Endurance is the most important stat of all. Once a battle begins, your endurance will lose one point every post. Once your Endurance hits zero, your RPC will be unable to continue fighting, and will have to spend a post or two resting to recover, giving your opponent a prime chance to finish you off. Suffice to say, you don't want to lose your Endurance. Think of it as your HP bar. If it's getting low, get out of the fight. Resting consists of an entire post with no combat related or strenuous actions. Endurance is regained in equal amounts to the number of posts rested. First post, one point, second post, two points, and so on.

How do I gain EXP?

There are three main ways to gain EXP, also known as Experience.

① PVE, or Player Versus Environment. Killing monsters will grant EXP equal to the monster's total SP.

② PVP, or Player Versus Player. Defeating another player in combat will grant EXP equal to double the opponent's total SP.

③ Questing. Many quests or missions will offer EXP rewards upon completion.

④ Posting. Up to 1,000 Exp may be earned per day via normal posting, at a rate of Two Words per Point of experience. A single post can only earn up to 200 Exp via this method.

► Once you have attained your EXP, you can convert it to SP. One Hundred EXP is equal to one SP. SP, Stat Points, can then be attributed to whatever stat you like.

► Every 1,000 EXP gained will increase your “Level” by one. If you are ten or more levels higher than your opponent, you will not gain any EXP from defeating them. Reversed, if they are ten or more levels higher than you, you gain double the EXP.

► The maximum SP one stat can hold is 100 points. To improve beyond that, a Limit Breaker such as an Ancient Orb must be used. Limit Breakers permanently raise a single stat's maximum limit by a set amount, allowing dedicated players to keep improving.

► Every 100 points a stat reaches increases the cost of increasing that stat by 1 SP per point. Increasing from 100 Strength to 101 Strength thus costs 2 SP instead of 1. This applies to Bonus SP as well as natural stats, except in the case of active skills.

► EXP is split equally between all those who took part in the battle. If a party member is not able to gain EXP from the monster killed, their portion is removed from the total, not split among the rest. Furthermore, to receive your EXP, you must actively participate in the battle. NPC mods may invalidate your claim to EXP if they feel you did not earn it. These rules are to prevent powerful players from siphoning EXP to weaker players unfairly.

► Monster EXP may be modified at crew discretion. This may occur for a variety of reasons, such as story lines, or special monsters that give more EXP than normal, or less.

► All PvP victories must be approved by an authorized judge before EXP is awarded, to prevent cheating.

How do I track my stats?

Every character will have their own thread in the Profile subforum. We highly recommend bookmarking your profile thread, as you will have to return to it quite often. Your profile thread will hold a copy of your profile and stats, and you will be expected to post your stat updates in that thread. Further explanation and the proper format can be found in the Profile subforum.
