So; Harry was wearing the cloak so no one would see him leave with Dumbledore, right? And he was under it when the death eaters stormed the tower and Snape killed Dumbldore, right? But he threw the cloak off and chased after Snape and Malfoy after that. He never went back up to get his invisibility cloak back. So what's going to happen to it? Harry forgot the cloak at the top of the very same tower (the astronomy tower) during his very first year, but Dumbledore put it back in his dormitory on his bed with a note that said "Just in case" But if Dumbledore is dead, then that means that Harry's got to go and get it. That'll be an emotional chapter in book 7...don't you think? Or do you think that J.K. will just ignore the fact that it was left at the top of the tower and just magically produce it back into his trunk?

New thought: Or could she be using the cloak as a metaphor for his protection. He's realized that he can't be protected any longer, so he doesn't need the cloak...but you have to admit that it comes in handy...

maybe by some other means, it'll be returned to him...
but the metaphor part does sound right, and might actually be the way it goes...

I think that the death eaters will find it and probably use it for their means. But in the end, it could be that he gets it back?

Or it could just be that Rowlings neglected to put in the part where Harry actually went back to the tower after the fight and got his cloak back. He might have gone back up there before going back home to retrieve it.
Or.....maybe he'll figure out how to become invisible without the cloak. Of course that'd take alot of focus and learning though...

I was wondering about the cloak when I read the book, too. Sheesh, though. It's a long time until we get to find out.

that metaphor idea is really good
but i think she just forgot to put something in about harry getting it back. after all, harry "magically" got the marauder's map back after book 4.

Yeah, that sounds about right... I mean, JK is just a human after all... she can't be expected to remember everything...

I had always wondered how he got that map back.
The metaphor sounds really good, and might be how it goes. I don't think J.K. Rowling would make the same mistake twice and forget to have him get the cloak, wouldn't she have heard about the map mistake somewhere? Who knows.

That's a really good theory...I never really noticed that he left his cloak behind, but I've only read the sixth book once. Good theory though...

Symbolism is everywhere and this may be a major piece of the story. I think that Harry will have to go and get it. He'll probably refuse help from everyone else and have his own memorial for Dumbledore then.

He might remember it while packing, you know. We don't get to see what they do all the way up to the train in this book.
