Okay…with some days to think it over and cool off…Hel felt better prepared to once again tackle subjects with Shun. She’d been in a foul and tired mood when he caught her on the stairs, and she was honestly ready to try and give this another go as calmly as Hel Brynhildr could manage. The reaper climbed the stairs to the fourth floor, and made her way down the hall until she reached Shun’s room.
There, she raised a fist, took a deep breath, mentally told herself to not jump the gun, and then knocked. No one could ever say that she didn’t try.

Shun had just been playing his guitar at the time when he heard a knock at the door. Pausing at a note, he carefully put the instrument down, then went to answer the door. No one had spoken, so he really didn't have much of a clue as to who was waiting on the other side.
At the time his eyepatch was off, as he hadn't bothered putting it on before answering.
When he opened up the door, his gaze fell upon a certain Valkyrie. One, whom he wasn't entirely happy with at the moment. He had his doubts that she was here to apologize either.
"Do you need something?" he asked in an even voice.

Well, at least Shun’s voice was even…and not annoyed! Yet. This was a good start, actually! “Ya.” Hel replied, keeping her voice even as well.
“I need to speak to you. Do you got some time?”

Letting out a small breath, Shun nodded and motioned her to come in. He turned around and went over towards his bed and sat down, where he waited patiently to hear what she had to say.

Yay, more good starts!
Hel couldn’t help the small smile that pulled at her lips as she followed Shun in, and closed the door behind her. The reaper pulled off her boots, placed them near the door, and followed Shun over to the bed. She took a seat on the floor though, sitting on her knees, and rested her hands on her knees. She took another deep breath, and was silent for a long moment as she stared at Shun, determined. It always took her a while to prepare to get these words out. Always. But at least you knew that when Hel said them, she meant them.
“…First…I am sorry for the other day.” She exhaled. “That is not how I wanted to speak to you at all.”

Raising a brow as she took a seat on the floor, Shun didn't say anything just yet. Instead he waited to hear what was to be said, and was surprised when she actually did apologize.
"You are forgiven. Though I'm sure you must understand that a man would not be entirely happy to know a friend would, without a doubt, choose one he considers and enemy over themselves." he said quietly.

It just felt so strange, to hear ‘you are forgiven’ from Shun. It was like it immediately brought a weight off of her chest upon hearing those few words. At his next words though, Hel was about to shoot off a defense, but she stopped herself. Her mouth was open, but she immediately closed it, and brought a hand up to drum her fingers against her lips.
Think this out before you say it. That was what she kept on trying to remind herself of. She also took this moment to seriously go over Shun’s words. Yeah. She would never try to suggest that they get along. Never. Some things one just couldn’t fix, and each person was entitled to feel how they should. Hel would always come to Mac’s defense though.
…Ah!
Hel’s expression shifted to realization now. This was her thought she needed. “Shun…” She started. “…Would you not pick Mitsu over me?” It was a rhetorical question. It was also not the same sentiment as the one he just stated…but she hoped he’d get it.

Shun let out a sigh at that response.
"I would. But it isn't quite the same," he said before thinking. Off the top of his head, he wasn't certain of anyone that Hel outright loathed.
"While not quite to the same extreme, it would be as if I were to choose a hunter over you. Or anyone you happen to completely hate," he explained. But, the fact that she admitted that Mac to her was on the same level as Mitsu for himself made things... difficult.
"That does complicate things a bit, however.."

Hel, to her credit, listened, and then mulled over Shun’s words. Yeah. She wasn’t offended, and she understood, luckily. She did snort though, amused, and finally shot a grin at the reaper. “Complicated.” She echoed. “Ya. Nothing ever comes easy, eh?”
She was silent for a moment, and drummed her fingers on her knees. “I hold you both in the highest regard…and…close to here.” She pressed a hand on her chest. “I love you like a brother, Shun and I…” She trailed off, and briefly looked melancholy. She loved Shun like a brother, and she loved Mac. “…And I…” She couldn’t seem to get the words out. They kept dying on the tip of her tongue. She shook her head a bit. “…But I feel…” She tried a different approach. “…Dedicated.” Hel paused. “…You would do…anything for Mitsu, you would stand by her side, whether she was right or wrong…you would…take her side, ya? That is how I feel.” For Mac.
“So it is not that I care or respect you any less…it is just when…it comes to that…ya.” She smiled a bit hopelessly, and reached up to rub the back of her neck.

Shun first shrugged at her comment. Few things were simple in life it seemed. When Hel began to speak again after a short silence, he listened carefully. So she truly felt that way then, though she seemed as though she was having some trouble saying it outright.
"..... Love. That's the word you're looking for," he murmured quietly. She had said it simply enough when referring to him as a brother, but for one reason or another, it just hadn't come out when regarding Mac. It wasn't too hard to see it though.. as much as the idea kind of disturbed him.
"But... I understand," he said, sounding a little resigned. There was still disappointment, and he still wasn't completely happy about this. He wasn't sure if he ever would be, seeing how he wasn't when it was Lizzy. But, he understood.

The reaper gave a short laugh. “Love.” She echoed. “…Ya. I guess so. Can not say I am fond of the word. As much as it is a… wonderful feeling…” Her tone got a bit sarcastic. “It brings an equal share of heartache.” She snorted a bit, shaking her head. Hel fell silent though, at Shun’s resigned tone…but it was his words that made her heart swell. He understood. Whether Shun realized it or not, he always said the things that she needed to keep her going. He understood, and that was all she wanted to hear from everyone around her, and it was what she wasn’t getting from others she cared about. He didn’t like it, but he understood. It was all she wanted. The reaper leapt up from her spot on the floor and lunged at Shun, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist in a fierce hug. “If our blades cross over this, Shun…” Her voice was a bit muffled from being pressed against him. “…It is not out of spite or ill will. It is just because we are fighting for what we believe in. Thank you.”

The grim reaper raised an eyebrow at that. True, he supposed that love came with pain as well. Shun hadn't quite had his heart broken, but he at least had an idea of the pain involved should a loved one be lost. He came close to losing Mitsu before, after all.
And then suddenly, he found himself being hugged rather tightly by the dark Valkyrie. Tensing quickly, he grimaced as he stared down at her.
"...Indeed.." he managed to get out, gingerly patting her on the back.
He still was very much not accustomed to signs of affection from people outside of his lycan. He didn't really know how to deal with them.

Well too bad, Shun. Hel wasn't done hugging onto you yet, so she kept her arms around him in a tight embrace. The awkward back patting just encouraged her really. "I would trade all my sisters minus Freya for you." She announced happily.

Shun tried not to shift uncomfortably, but he was still being rather stiff while Hel clung onto him. This was incredibly awkward for him. "...I'll.. take that as a compliment?" he asked with a sense of uncertainty. He had no clue how close she was to most of her other sisters, just that she had a lot.

Hel clung onto Shun for just a while longer before giving the grim one final squeeze. She then released him and rocked backwards to rest on the floor again. Her mood had improved drastically and she was beaming up at him as she sat before him. "So did you go on your trip?" She questioned now that the serious matter was out of the way.
