It's All Been Done

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a private RP between Chrystali (Zul) and NeonMace (Leo and Ethiriel)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where: Gambino Park

When: Mid-afternoon - the sun is setting and everything is golden

Weather: With Spring budding, the sky is cloudless and it's finally starting to get warmer.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 21, 2013 3:03 pm

Spring’s arrival meant many things. For some, it was the symbol of new beginnings, of birth or new life. Others, love and other budding affections. Leo, on the other hand, saw Spring as an opportunity for new work. Sure, each month had their own, special beauty to it, but when it came to his own line of work, Spring was the most active. Most lovebirds preferred their weddings to be in Spring when the air had finally warmed and Earth shed its snowy cover. Only a few days ago, the local newspaper contacted him in regards to the new gardens that had been added to the city park.

That’s where he was today, making good on his promise. The gardens were especially lovely, covered in lush, freshly planted warm-weather flowers and saplings. Personally, the photographer wouldn’t come out here for anything other than work, but with each passing glance toward his Raeven, he managed to appreciate it just a little more.

Ethiriel didn’t focus on much, having been glued to the nearest bench as Leo continued his work, but the calming sounds of later-day birds and the warmth of the Sun were enough to put her in a content lull. It had been quite a while since she had left the apartment, the harsh winter resulting in her own hibernation. Even the past year, Leo had been so busy with work that she hadn’t gone out, even in the warmer months. She was fine with it, in all honesty, preferring familiar layouts over foreign, larger spaces such as the park, but she was more than fine with the current situation. While the wind had a slight chill to it, clinging carefully to the passing Winter, the evening Sunset kept her warm enough.

There was little speaking between the two, but it was by no means an uncomfortable silence.

The change of seasons never really touched the demon, not in a way he noticed on a personal level. Generally, the only acknowledgement he gave the warming of the earth was the fact that people would once again take notice of his colder temperature and hang around him whether he liked it or not. Zul never much minded being a personal heater, but only to those he cared about enough to hold against himself in such a fashion; this was no different. As it were, he kept his temperature purposely lower that day, lower than was comfortable for most, intent to go about his business of checking out jobs and rentals in Gambino without being hindered by human complication.

It was why, then, that he was cutting through the park rather than taking the more crowded sidewalk, enjoying the dappling of tree's shadows over his eyes as he crossed beneath sprouting boughs and the sweet scent of fresh sap and pollen that lingered in the air. Soon the land would be littered with picnics and parties and ill-mannered children, but now, it was mostly empty, save for some strange chap taking pictures of the place and someone sitting on a bench near by. Zul gave the photographer a lingering look -- the guy looked familiar, bringing back brief memories of the beach event the Lab had held so long ago -- and then he looked beyond him.

And stopped.

Where the shadows of the trees shrouded him, she was bathed in the golden rays of the sun, warming her milk-and-honey skin and painting the blossom red of her lips rather fetchingly. She was adorned in green, and though he'd seen other Raevans of a verdant color, it still struck him as different: Cruz was bolder and Eiry a phosphorescent mint, but she held the colors of spring itself, the first reach of life and health that marked the first change from winter. Even her ribbon was different, giving him the impression of aged, stained parchment. Her silver, all highlights and subtle charm, was surprisingly lacking a garish overtone, instead accenting her rich chocolate locks and the feature that grabbed him the most: the palest mist-grass eyes he'd ever seen. Zul would have appreciated all of her beauty in the moment, carved in the sunlight as she was, but he was transfixed by her peculiar gaze that seemed to behold all but settle on none, and it was to that thought that he slowly drew closer to her, observing this Frei he'd never seen nor recalled from his woman's daily ramblings.

He was hard-pressed to miss the fact that she wasn't acknowledging his approach, and while he wasn't coming straight at her, his presence wasn't so out of line of sight to be missed completely. The demon hesitated just on the outskirts of the shade the tree nearest to her cast, as though breaking free of it would somehow put him much closer to her than he ought to be. Zul could feel his skin warming as he took in her embellished wings and crown of silver, already noting her daintier details and drawing his own conclusions from them.

Only after he'd observed the serene woman did he speak, keeping his voice gentle and quiet in the open expanse of the park. "Pardon me," he murmured, lifting a hand to press his fingertips against his chest, his tri-horned head bowing though his sky-blue eyes remained fixed upon her, "I'm certain we've not met and that's simply something I must rectify." Once he'd spoken, the spell of the shade seemed to be broken, the Sigel floating into the light but still not so close as to touch the bench she sat upon. "My name is Zul, and I'm afraid I can't possibly continue with my day until I hear what name might be fitting for such a lady as yourself."

Had it not been for the wind, perhaps she wouldn’t have noticed his approach.

In its gentle breeze it carried his scent; a strange mixture of burns – both from extreme heat and frigid cold, and neither carried an appropriate aroma – and yet, beneath it all, a strange, bitter smell mingled carefully among his essence. Sulfur, while she didn’t know it from experience, stuck out the most, though it wasn’t quite unpleasant… and even beneath that was something she couldn’t place at all. Something other-worldly.

”My…” she cooed, closing her eyes under raised brows, her lips tugging gently at the corners. Still facing forward, Ethiriel craned her neck slightly to lift her chin with a deep breath. ”What manners you have, I am truly flattered.”

Finally turning to face him, her milky eyes rested vaguely on him – or perhaps past him. Her smile remained gentle and calm as a hand rose from her ribboned lap to rest gently on her own sternum, dipping her head in a small bow. ”My name is Ethiriel, Sir Zul.” she announced. Her lips lingered, parted as if to continue but for the moment she remained silent as she slowly lifted her hand and presented the seat beside her.

”I hope now that your day can be continued without hindrance,” she mused, but you are… most welcomed to accompany me, if your presence is not needed elsewhere.”

Her gestures were fluid but precise, something that interested him greatly. He himself moved in what he'd like to think was grace, but he was sharp and settled with his motions; she flowed like the air, like water. Zul was certain she could not be beyond a newborn, but she possessed such poise that he was immediately intrigued.

"Ethereal," he repeated, slightly misunderstanding but finding it terribly suited all the same. Not about to let her invitation to go unanswered, he finally entered the swath of sunlight that fell over her, his wings tucked tight against his back as he gently took the hand that patted the seat, turning to 'sit' at her side. Close up, she was no less wondrous to him, her pale silver eyes holding his attention raptly. She had an aroma of earth and sky, a meeting of the two that was rich but had a sweet touch to it, like natural honey. The demon could tell obviously she had some metal about her make up, but he couldn't pinpoint what it was or what her other half was, other than the fact it was unusual, but...it worked. Quite well.

"I've need to be elsewhere, but not yet. Certainly nothing pressing enough to step away from my manners." Zul chuckled softly and, lifting the hand he yet held, he pressed a brief kiss to the back of her knuckles. "What might keep your presence this lovely day?" He turned his blue eyes around the immediate vicinity, again noting the man near by but not thinking much of it.

The repetition of her name, though slightly altered in pronunciation, had a nice ring in his voice and it was soothing to the silver frei as she relished the strangely neutral tingling of his scent. Ethiriel was surprised by the sudden touch, but he was so gentle and slow that she didn’t feel threatened in the slightest. Her fingers curled lightly around his, mapping out his movement while he took his place on the bench beside her. His lips held a neutral temperature as he graced her knuckles.

”I appreciate… the kind gesture, Sir Zul. My guardian is… here with work,” Ethiriel announced, her eyes lazily centered in Zul’s direction. ”The… man with the silver watch.”

With a simple bow of her head Ethiriel closed her eyes, opening them once more while moving her free hand toward Leo behind her. Of course, without her looking she was off the mark, but she thought little of it with her own excuses. Her glassy eyes never left Zul’s vague form, but her free hand found its way to his before clasping both. It was rare for her to find someone so middle-ground in temperature, though she had met so few of her own kind regardless. He was comforting in a way – he didn’t burn her, nor did he chill her through. His manners were certainly appreciated on top of everything else. Overall: impressive.

”I hope… you do not find it rude of me, but… your scent, I do not recognize.”

Zul did not miss the way she described her Guardian: not by features, but my a distinct piece of jewelry. He gave her a politely bemused expression that he anticipated she might not be able to see, his blue eyes shifting towards the general direction. The gentleman with the camera; it made sense. Even so, his mind buzzed about her manner of description, his interest piquing.

"Rude?" he echoed, curiosity rolling with the word. "Not at all. You give the impression that the very notion might be something you're incapable of." Zul laughed at his own words, soft with good humor. The demon cocked his head one side and then to the other, considering how to respond to the statement that was rather new to him. Generally it was his temperature that first earned interest, but his scent? "I'm not sure, m'lady," he responded, lifting his free hand to idly tug at the loop in his gorget. "It could be the leather, the fur -- my after shave?" It did not occur to him that the Frei was indicating his scent, as he'd met only one other Frei in his years that rang on the same level of something so personal.

"If it's unpleasant, I can move." The Sigel smiled, though his brows pinched in slight uncertainty and his smile held an apology that he wasn't sure was due yet. "Might I say though, you smell lovely. There's something very -- sweet, something natural about the air about you. Like it's cleaner and clearer just being in your presence."

A small chuckle escaped the lady’s lips and immediately a hand reached up to stop herself. ”No, no…” she started, finishing off another small laugh before resting her hand back down onto her ‘lap.’ With a slight bow of her head, her smile growing just a little bigger, Ethiriel offered silent thanks. Zul’s smile was missed, though had she seen it she was sure to be charmed. ”It is by… no means offensive. What… I am referring to is not… your garb nor anything you… add to your being; your natural scent. I do… not recognize your components.

”Might I ask… as to what your soul… and your essence are?” she asked, her eyes now searching for a form to lock onto. Zul’s hair was the most obvious, though with distance it was still difficult to focus on. Everything else was toned, darkened, and impossible to see.

The demon decided he very much enjoyed her laughter. It fit her, in the way that her naturally clear scent and silver eyes were unique to her. He listened as she elaborated and explained her intent, his expression dawning with understanding that he knew she was unable to see. Zul was fascinated; he'd not met someone that reacted to the scent of others in a way similar to how he did. He imagined her sense of smell was even stronger than his. For a moment, he couldn't help but wonder why Kyou would allow the Frei poor sight to begin with. Wasn't the warlock supposed to fashion them perfectly? Were his methods becoming flawed and affecting the Raevans? The thought stirred a small amount of darkness in him, but he wouldn't let it surface, keeping his attention on the delicate female.

"I am a demon," he replied gently, "fused with a rock of both bitter freeze and molten lava. Quite a concoction, no?" He smiled inwardly, rather amused by the situation. He'd never spoken of his make up out loud. Realizing he hadn't really discussed anyone else's make up either, he ventured to query, "What about you?"

Ethiriel never saw herself as imperfect, even with her handicap making things difficult for her to adjust to. No, she was born just as she was and for now she was fine with that. She had no idea of the thoughts running through the Sigel’s head, knew little of the passive judgments; not on her but their mutual creator. She never thought once about it.

She chuckled again, still staring at the vague outline of his face with unfocused eyes. ”I see,” she mused, allowing her hand to fall from her lips as she had tried to stifle them once more. ”It is not a bad mixture… I promise. You are very distinguished. I, myself… am unoxidized silver and tea. Green… to be exact, as though it were not obvious.”

Jokes were not Ethiriel’s forte, even forgetting to laugh as if it were amusing in the first place.

”However, I do… stand by my grounds. It is… very much a pleasure to meet you, Zul. It is all mine,” she said, offering another polite bow towards him.

"You think so?" he mused in a dubious manner. He'd met very few who hadn't judged him based on his appearances. Even his Rivener had: the difference was that the Scorpion had embrace what he was rather than being timid or afraid of him. "Again, you are kind to think so." Zul paused, a slow smile curving his lips. Now he understood why he enjoyed her scent! "Green tea is one of my favorites, if I had to pick. No wonder I've a fondness towards you already: sweet in temperament and make up."

The Sigel chuckled faintly, moving his hands to gently gather both of hers. "If you'll excuse me for being so bold--?" And lifting her hands, he used his thumbs to gently press against her palms, arching her delicate fingers so he could direct them to his own cheeks. "I hope you've an imagination to fill in the details," he joked, pressing her hands against his cheeks and jaw so she might feel his features. Zul wanted her to see him, somehow, and this was all he could come up with.

”What a flatterer you are…” Ethiriel cooed, relaxing her arms so that they were easily guided. Once her fingers met Zul’s warm skin, she could feel everything else around them melt away until it was just the two of them. The smile on her lips relaxed as well, her expression calm and collected. She almost seemed pacified.

Once his hands left hers to explore, Ethiriel gratefully took the opportunity as her fingers glided over Zul’s rugged features. They travelled to his forehead, his hair line, along the length of his horns and back down to his jaw. She allowed her fingers to linger and run through the fine hairs of the Sigel’s chin. With a moment’s pause in thought, she finally brought herself closer so that their foreheads could touch and she could see the blue of his eyes. Even while the color was greatly muted they were stunning – piercing. One could easily be intimidated by the fierceness of his eyes, but somehow Ethiriel was comforted in the fact that she could become familiar with a little piece of him.

”Your… boldness is appreciated. Thank you…”

The demon was still, eyes lidded to a near close as her fingers explored his skin, head slightly bowed to allow her to reach. Zul only slightly lifted his head and offered a faint sound of warning when her fingers wandered too high up his central horn, not wanting her to burn her fingers; otherwise, there was no protest, rather enjoying the unusual but thrilling sensation of being 'met' in such an intimate fashion.

When her brow rested over his inverted pentagram, his eyes opened again, meeting her pale gaze evenly. This close, he could see a very faint green tinge, much like the silver she spoke of. Zul smiled, a faint rumbling sound escaping him in lieu of shaking his head. "Thank you for indulging. It's a selfish gesture on my part -- I want you to 'see' me and know me. The idea of leaving today and you not having an image to carry gives me disquiet. I like being impressive."

He was teasing, but just. Tilting his head, briefly touching noses, he gently held her elbows and withdrew, sliding his hands along her forearms until he had her hands in his again. "I should not dally longer, but I hope to see you again." Squeezing her hands, he glanced to the Guardian who was still working. "Your person should have a list of numbers. If he calls Alex, she can get you in touch with me, should you desire to do so." Zul knew he couldn't linger, but he was still loathe to part ways. For once, time was not on his side.
