Lassell stretched as he made his way through the streets of Destiny City, having been awakened as a knight it was part of his duty to make sure the citizens were safe from any signs of danger. He blew out a breath and walked down the sidewalk, in hopes not to draw any attention to himself. He thought for a moment looked around, Maia was suppose to be helping him patrol for the first time since he awakened. It seemed as his civilian identity him and Maia were getting closer but at a slow pace.
He ran a hand through his hair, he had been friends with Maia for 4 years already but it didn't seem like 4 years it seemed like less. He wondered if that was a normal reaction but he shrugged it off and continued to wait patiently for Maia to show up.

Maia was late. Maia was late and roof jumping full speed ahead to where she was suppose to meet Trevor. She hoped he hadn't waited to long, but her day had been a bit hectic and work ran late and so getting her homework done ran late too. She smiled when she could feel his signature and charge onward until she spotted him and jumped off the roof to land effortlessly off to his side.
"Hey Lassell, sorry I'm late. I would have been here sooner, but homework and stuff."
She smiled at him straightening her skirt a bit, as it had gotten a bit rumpled with all her jumping, and looked down the street, "you ready?"

Lassell blinked as Maia landed beside her "you really did not have rush over here, I am a patient boy" he put in. "Ah...understandable" he told her, "I would imagine your life being so hectic with this whole double life thing going, I'm still getting use to it" he told her politely. Before he looked down the street and nodded his head slowly, "a little nervous, but I'm ready" he told her.

Maia laughed and shook her head, "Don't worry about it. I'm use to running about at knight, so it didn't feel like rushing. Plus, roof jumping makes travel faster and easier. If you like we can try it. You can jump up there two you know, smaller buildings anyway. I use the smaller ones to get up on bigger ones too, or just find a fire escape to jump up."
She gave him a soft smile hearing he was nervous. "Don't be too nervous. We will be just fine. I tend not to run into may member of the negaverse or the dark mirror court. I feel stronger that many other's so they don't tend to coming running to me. We might run into youma, but I doubt much else will happen."
She looked up up to the building she just jumped off, "So would you like to head up, or keep it the streets."

Lassell, tapped his chin lightly with a finger before looking up at the building she just jumped off. "I guess we could give it a shot, if I fall its not my fault" he told her. It was a simple matter of getting a good start and then jumping, just like on the track at DCU. He just needed to pull some of his skills from his sports in order to do this successfully. "okay, lets do this" he said.
He glanced at her and smiled "I'll take your word for it" he said "aren't there always a chance we will run into these youmas. yeah..I still don't get all this terminology that accompanies having a double life. Wasn't I suppose to go your place to learn more?" he asked her. Truthfully, he was looking forward to going to Lily's house, he had never actually been to her house before, or least not in the 4 years they have been friends.

Maia nodded and smiled, "yeah it gets easier with time, knowing what everything is and how things work. You'll get it and before you know it you'll be helping to teach others." Maia really hoped this was the case with Shang and Lassell and even Pompeii, if the woman allowed her to train her. "And yes, there is always a chance you will run into youma, but there are quiet night too."
Maia looked away from the one building and over to a smaller one near by, which seemed to be not even a full two stories up and decided that was probably a good start. She headed toward it, motioning for Lassell to follow her, stopping only when she was near enough to give a demonstration.
"Okay, so it's pretty easy. So easy, you'll probably laugh about, but its sort of like hurdle jumping. You just run and jump and the better you get you won't even need to run anymore. I'll show you."
Maia smiled, then ran and gave a leap, landing on the building and turning to wave to Lassell, "come on up then."

Lassell nodded his head "don't all things get better over a period of time?" he asked her. Before following Maia over to the building she chose. He shrugged "I can handle youma, what I can't handle is jumping onto the roofs of buildings" he said hesitantly but picked up a running start and then bent his knees then jumping onto the roof.
"Well, that wasn't too bad. I need more practice though" he told her, the most likely way he would get better at jumping roofs is if he got more practice with patrolling at night. He glanced over at Maia "alrighty! then we should probably get started" he put in.

Maia frowned, most things got better over time, but with being a senshi, things were a bit different. Yes, she got stronger, faster, more confident with time, but that did mean things were better, because with time her enemies did the same. Maia smiled, "things aren't always that simple, but with this it is."
She gave a small laugh and shook her head, she was sure he could handle it, even if he said he couldn't. It amused her to hear anyone say youma were basically easier than roof top jumping.
"You'll get plently of practice, let go" she said walking to the other side of the roof and bounding up to the next roof. She was trying to get up higher, preferring even jumping across the building as many were the same height.
"Pay attention to energy signatures, we don't want to be snuck up on. The negaverse feel more like youma, Dark mirror senshi too, but obviously not exactly the same. Knights and senshi feel like us, and good parallels as well, only they obviously have a different feel to them as well, but there are only to so no worries. The stronger they are the stronger they feel, so it a good way to tell what's coming at you."

Lassell frowned at what she said " so then my knight life gets more and more complicated" he said, with the limited knowledge he has it would definitely get more and more complicated. He so wished everything would make sense he followed Maia over the rooftops with ease, they were definitely like hurdles in track and field and he was grateful he was a member of it.
"Its like school all over again" he put in. He tilted his head to the side as he listened "how are we suppose to sense which energies are good and which is bad" he said starting to get exasperated with learning all of this in one night. " everything still isn't making any sense to me" he put in.

Maia frowned realizing sometimes teaching was far harder than it appeared to be. One needed equal parts patience, know how, encouragement, and determination and she wasn't too sure she had those measured out right as she managed to discourage Lassell a lot. "Yeah, try not to think about it two much and to you're earlier question that I realized I didn't answer you can come over after we patrol, so long as we are quite and don't wake my roommates. I can show you my laptop with all the information I have collected."
She thought breifly that she really needed to relocate the laptop to the big house and made a mental note to move it later. It wouldn't do to have Alex or Johnny coming across it. She didn't want either 'brothers' involved in this war she and Xander had gotten dragged into.
Maia gave a small laugh and shook her head. "It's really not complicated at all." She walked over to him, "close your eyes and I'll show you."

Lassell stood still on the rooftop and tilted his head as Maia came up beside him "I'm pretty sure being quiet is manageable" he told her. At least with going over to Maia's house and looking at her lap top would answer most if not all his questions that kept building in his head, over the 4 years and now He and Maia were getting closer and he wasn't sure if she noticed that.
"I'll take your word for it" he managed to say before doing as he was told, he closed his eyes and listened carefully. He was out of practice for this as well. But, he remained quiet and open his ears to the sounds of the night air.

Maia laughed and shook her head. Yes, she realized that she was getting closer to her friend, but no more that she would with any other friend. Maia loved to make friends and wanted to close to them all, often it was easy for her. She smiled when Lassell closed his eyes, happy at the unconscious show of trust. Maia certainly wouldn't take that command for to many people, even some of her friends.
"Okay," she said softly, "I standing in front of you and you should be able to feel me as well as yourself. We both have a more softer energy, lighter and warmer. It's a good feeling and not at all scary."
"Can you feel that," she asked, "you should feel my energy more strongly, as I'm at a higher level and you're energy won't feel exactly the same because you a knight."
She hoped she was making sense. She knew this was easier when less of your sense were bombarding your brain with sensory information. The energy sensing was very much like a sixth sense, and she decided to mention that. "It sort of like a sixth sense. Rather natural like sight, hearing, touch, but it still needs to be refined or learned."

Lassell, took a moment to understand the workings of the whole sensing energy levels. He wasn't even aware he could do this. He took a few more seconds before speaking up "I can feel that" he told her before opening his brown eyes again. That took a lot more effort then he had anticipated "though..I'm glad you're teaching me the basic need to knows. I don't think I could if I did it on my own" he put in thoughtfully.
Maia was making sense more or less, but he himself needed quite a bit of practice with jumping on rooftops and sensing energy levels,though knowing the basics would probably help him. The next thing on his list was learn how to play his harp.

Maia shook her head, "be more confident in yourself. Trust me, even without my help you would figure it all out in time. I did and so did so many before you. I take as my own personal job to make it a little easier for other's than it was for me."
She turned walking toward the other side of the roof, before hoping over to the next and motioning for Lassell to follow. "I would much rather not be running back and forth to the hospital because a negaverser has put one of my friends there. I'd rather you all stay out of the hospital. I've been there enough times myself." She had a couple scars to prove it, thought they faded with time.
She continued onto the next roof and with barely a pause onto the next before she felt the chaotic energy that signaled a youma was nearby. She looked to Lassell, "do you feel that?" She said, less asking and more prompting him to to try to feel it out.

Lassell, took a moment to think on it thoughtfully before speaking up and following Maia to the other end of the roof "I'm pretty, a lot of beginners are grateful that experienced senshi are assisting them" he put it politely. "I know, I am" he told her before standing beside her and leaning forward some but not too much that he would fall.
"I don't think I've ever been in a hospital, can't say I've had any sports injuries" he told her before propping up a foot and leaning on it slightly. "I'll tell you what, I'll try to avoid the hospital at all costs just for your sake and mine" he told her. He smiled as he took a moment to watch Maia, in the 4 years they have known each other, he had never actually seen Maia in a state where she enjoyed her job "i take it you enjoy your senshi life" he put in softly.
He took a moment and then a spike of energy hit him "yes, I presume its a youma" he guessed. He was slowly understanding the different energy signatures. He thought for a moment before jumping onto the next roof with ease and paused to wait for Maia "come on, we can't let it hurt anyone" he told her.
