She knew it wasn't a deep cut. She could see the thing for herself. There was quite a bit of blood oozing from her arm, more than she had ever seen come out of any part of her before, but she could still move the limb and she wasn't cut to the bone. There was pain, but it was manageable. The more pressing problem she had at the moment was probably the very angry dragon that was bellowing at her from six feet away.

"Here!" she shouted, tossing a rock wrapped in a strip of her ripped dress at Leyn. The Kiandri followed the movement, and although she had known it would do so, she still panicked a bit as a result. Leyn was injured as well, and he needed time to bandage his own wound before they tried to subdue the beast again.

She raised her scepter and flung a bolt of power at the back of the dragon's head, ignoring Leyn's protests as she did so. It screamed and spun again, bright electricity bouncing from tooth to tooth in its glistening maw.

Eanah ran.

There was a cavern well away from their tent where they had both agreed to meet if anything ever went wrong, and that was where she led the dragon now. Its opening was far too small for the Kiandri to get inside, and with any luck, it would tire of their little game and wander off before Leyn could come and rescue her.

She was starting to realize she didn't much like being rescued.

Almost there. Eanah gathered herself and dove straight into the cavern's entrance, squeezing her lips and eyelids shut so they wouldn't be inundated with sand. She stood quickly and backed against the wall, quietly catching her breath in the dark. The dragon tried to fit its clawed hand in after her, but it got nowhere. It felt like forever before the creature huffed with irritation and left.

As if her pain had been held off by imminent danger, Eanah's arm began to throb as soon as she was in the clear. She glanced down at her cut, sighing at the sight of the sand that caked it. It was going to be a nightmare to clean.
