In light of recent events, Trine needed to, well...lighten up. That was what a particular pair of blues had decided, anyway, and in plotting had eventually determined that a prank was in order. A very big one. They were going to paint one of the Weyr's metallics, who almost to a one had a tendency to take themselves too seriously. A simple bronze wouldn't do, though, oh no - one of the golds would be much better. Some discussion had led to the decision that their target would be Cepheith, mostly because Benden's gold and her rider had a certain....reputation.

Figuring out how to paint an unsuspecting dragon had been a little more difficult, since they could hardly drop barrels of paint - that would hurt! It needed to be harmless, liken the dyed 'Thread' they used in wing drills. Exactly like. So when a shipment of the cheap dye they used for that came in, the duo and their riders had appropriated some, then gone about the business of finding a few more conspirators to help them execute their plan.

Each dragon carried a different color - Mazamath had insisted on blue for his and Adi's 'Thread' - which they would drop on the junior gold while she sunned. With his own feet a slightly different shade of blue than usual, and his rider blue up to her elbows, they took to the air with their...gift for the Queen.

Ready, Troiseth? Our Queen awaits us!

((Other mischief-minded dragons are welcome to participate, since it would take more than just the two of them.))

A'in was not all surprised to find another playful couple as him and Troiseth. And with all the new starts at Trine, it was a relief that Adi and Mazamath could bring some paint to have fun. Giving the blue a pat, the young rider shuffled the barrels into their hidden area.

"Seeing that they took some blue, how about green for us?" A'in smiled and helped get the ropes in the right spot.

Ready over here, Mazamath! The amusement traveled through his rely.

This will be fantastic, Mazamath mused to his fellow blue, including their riders. Of course, this could also qualify as abuse of rank somehow, a Courier stealing from a shipment, but it wasn't like it was an important shipment. Besides, they weren't turning around and selling it or something like that! They were just using it to make Pern's first rainbow dragon. Surely they wouldn't get in too much trouble.

Either way, they were about to find out. As their target came into view - a big, shiny dragon was not hard to find - Mazamath swooped down with a loud bugle.

Thread away! he declared, releasing the dye-soaked fibers right over their chosen victim.

Better her than Sunnath! He stayed in Mazamath's shadow on the flight, attempting to stay hidden before they dropped their Thread. The large gold was such an easy target and Hers being distracted with everything else going on...His eyes shifted for the area of her wings.

We go for her wings and forelegs, Troiseth informed the others. No need to get their partners in crime, yet. His claws ripped open the green barrel, letting its contents rain down from the sky.

A'in leaned over in his buckles, making sure to stay on the blue and let his own bits release. His hands, even with gloves on, were a green blue color as the dye soaked cloth dropped from his hands.

She was, for the time being, enjoying the sun beating against her hide and the warm drowsy feeling it brought with it. The Gold had her eyes mostly closed, clearly not expecting any sort of trouble. Really, her rider was filled with too much of that lately. And stressing out too much. These changes that had been talked about - which she couldn't remember hearing but Narisa remembered them for her - had just been the icing on top of it all. So, Cepheith lounged out where it was open and not many huts nearby, enjoying a relaxing afternoon.

Or at least, that had been her initial plan.

The bugle from a dragon had Cepheith tilting her head slightly up to see who it was... and something just went 'splat' against her hide. What- And then something else hit her wings, which had helpfully flared wide in surprise. She let out a bugle of her own, rising to her fit and eyes fixated on the sky.

Mazamath! Troiseth! What... why am I turning blue? If there had been any anger in the Gold, it was momentarily extinguished by the strange phenomenon of watching her hide turn... a greenish-blue? Cepheith lifted a foot and examined it as it also began to change colors. This was, well, not how she had expected to spend the afternoon.

She was also distracted for the moment, watching the dye drip down her wings.

The large blue trumpeted victoriously, projecting wordless impressions of mirth in initial response to Cepheith. He wasted little time in wheeling back around to admire their handiwork, even as one of their compatriots, a green, dropped their own red 'Thread' on the gold...and promptly disappeared between, apparently more concerned than the blues about what the junior Queen's reaction might be. Her aim had also been somewhat less accurate, and not all the dye hit its intended target.

We are making a rainbow dragon! Mazamath answered gleefully. The first, most glorious rainbow dragon! Trine will be famous!

The brown was bigger now. True not his full growth but he was getting there. Belith had managed to talk His out of the kitchen and convinced his rider to come take a walk with him after a tray of tidbits were set out for people to enjoy. The brown crooned as he saw his rider. This will be good. You won't be cooped up in the kitchen all day. After we walk you could oil my hide.

Belith bumped his head gently against M'rine's chest, affectionately seeking cresses. His blue eyes whirled bluely as he watched to see his rider's reaction to the suggestion.

The boy laughed as he obediently scratched the headknobs, after grabbing the large head that nearly knocked him off his feet. "Easy boy, you'll have to be careful or I'll end up on my rump. I could oil you after a bath perhaps. No sense ruining it afterward with a bath." He grinned as the brown gave an eager croon.

With a friendly slap he turned the young dragon down the path. He was thinking of that shallow and sunwarmed stretch on the lake that would be perfect for a swim too. Then Belith could stretch out and sun after he got oiled. M'rine wasn't loath to join him after a swim for himself. Wrapped up in his thoughts he didn't notice the commotion going on not far away.

Neither Courath or Dizzian were carrying any dye despite the young woman trying her hardest to convince the green that it was a fantastically funny idea and that Narisa was sure to get a laugh out of it. Courath hadn't disagreed with her on that at all. It was a funny idea, and the boys were sure to have fun. She wouldn't explain why she didn't want to participate actively in the task, but she readily agreed to join the pranksters to watch.

She hovered a distance away as the first 'bombs' were dropped. Dizzian was giggling like a mad woman over Courath's neck. Oh come ON Courath! She's not angry I told you it'd be fine!

And I never doubted you. Courath soothed. Again, as had become a habit recently, the green was being secretive. Dizzian didn't feel anything negative or even sinister in Courath, only that she was acting more reserved than the boldness of her weyrling days had displayed. Was it just because they were responsible wingriders now? Or was something more happening in the dragon's mind?

Well they need more than just a couple colors if they want to make a rainbow.
