Amarus had never had a particular problem with frosty creatures, nor frosty natures; after all, she had possessed one of her own not too long ago. Ghosts had no memories, and Lotus Eaters were cursed or blessed with a sense of overwhelming calmness. As a result, she'd merely felt detached from the world around her. She had coveted power.

Now, she was trying to let go of the things she'd obsessed over before. She was capable of feeling things. That was new, too. She wasn't good at it, though, and part of her... really wished she had a past. So today was a special sort of bonding exercise with someone she had met briefly at Scarentines: Siku. Well, met was a loose word; really, she'd yelled something at him and run away.

And then they'd met again. At some point. Hooray for reunions.

And now they were meeting at The Collect; it was a junkyard, yes, but it was as full of treasure as it was trash. It was a market, never-ending, and at this time of night the lanterns and candles hung inside glass jars around the market were glowing brightly. Amarus herself glowed, faintly purple-pink because of her aura. Her silver eyes scanned the gate, looking for Siku.

She was here to construct a past for herself, with his help. It wouldn't be for nothing, of course; she had a tin of narcotic cookies with her. Any time Siku helped, she'd offer him one. It would be a good night, wouldn't it?

Amarus, the Lotus Eaters wasn't hard to spot among the glow of lights, considering her purpleish-pink aura overpowered the softer orange and yellow glows of the candles and lanterns. For the moment he didn't really have a clue why the ghostly ghoul wanted to meet here, likely because he wasn't paying attention when she explained to him before, but he really didn't mind considering that The Collect sometimes held treasures among its trash.

Or so he had heard, which was honestly a main reason for coming. Otherwise the thing that drove him closer to the glowing ghoul was his own curiosity.

"Amarus.." From near the gate he called out to her, waving with his barbed tail as he approached with a small smirk. Pocketing his hands on a pleasant hiss for the nights cool wind. Pausing near her he likely added to the nights chill to the air thanks to his own aura.

Eyeing the tin curiously his tail swung up and tapped the top. "Found something already? .." He mused teeth flashing in the wide grin that spread his lips, glancing around at the trinkets stashed here and there he leaned back on his heels and asked bluntly, "so..what are we here for again, do forgive my forgetfulness if you've already said.." He had, had a long week what with the field trip to thanksgiving and all.

Amarus tucked the tin of cookies away into a bag at her side, and adjusted the black scarf around her neck gently. She'd purchased it at a Horseman booth, a while back, but it still served her well occasionally. Honestly, The Collection was really a home to Ghosts; this was where they congregated, perhaps in the hopes of reclaiming some piece of their past.

Just like Amarus hoped, in a way. She was, perhaps, less naive about the whole process: she didn't expect to suddenly regain her memory, or even to find an object she liked. She just figured that they could completely invent a past for her. A past, maybe even a family, or friends, or... something. Anything other than the way she'd woken: to a woman in white, to the question of a soul, from a painting in the Haunted House.

Hearing his voice, Amarus at first did not reply, merely lifted one hand to wave casually to acknowledge she'd heard him. She made her way over to him briskly, walking a couple inches above the ground. Thankfully, his aura didn't bother her; she didn't have nerves in the traditional sense, so if she didn't want to feel the cold, she wouldn't. "Siku," Amarus greeted, with slight bow. "Ah, no, these will be for you," she said. Her face, blank and expressionless, softened into a smirk of her own.

"They're a specialty of mine," she said, "and they'll make the night pass a little easier. More pleasant. You won't even notice time at all, really," she mused, pulling the tin from her bag and stroking a thumb along its metal. "But now the question is: do you think you can handle that?"

She paused, then, and her face grew faintly more serious. "To create a past for me," she said. "To make one up. I'm tired of not having anything beyond memories of this place," Amarus explained. The steeled look in her normally-empty eyes made it apparent she would more readily kick someone in the teeth than admit that again.

Amarus was more than a little odd, often times that expressionless look bothered him but once it softened his body shifted into a more relaxed position. A little creepy or not she was easy on the eyes and if she was willing to feed him for this little search and create party then he was all in. Spinar looked back to the tucked away tin with a raised brow when Amarus mentioned the treats inside being a specialty of hers.

Hopefully not so special that they were inedible, he thought grimly to himself.

"They sound like a real scream, I'm delighted to inform you that I'm pretty sure I can manage their unique.. quality" he replied with an amused twinkle to his pale eyes. At the more serious shift in the mood he nearly bolted, but considering the job he understood the need for some seriousness, which made him question why he had even shown up for this particular task.

Oh right, food and information, eyeing the metal tin as her thumb stroked over it he chuckled and nodded.

"Can't say I blame you, I would imagine doing much the same if those were the only memories I possessed.." Though having someone help him in the process wasn't likely to happen. Rubbing his chilly blue palms together he eyed the heaps of junk around them and then turned back to Amarus, catching the all to serious look and ignoring it on purpose. "Let's get started on the best jacking past any ghostly ghoul could hope for hm?" Spinar took a step away from her then rubbed over his chin, questions already coming to mind as his eyes gazed over the closer trinkets.

"Siblings are fun," he lied with the intent to keep his own life private, "so I would suggest we invent you some, I can see you as an older sister." Grinning to Maru he leaned and picked up a discarded silver bell, "a gift from your younger, for the time you gave such good advice about that one very cute creature in their class? Obviously this is a treasured item, considering it strengthened your family bond, the two of you couldn't quite click till then you know." He batted his lashes teasingly and chuckled. It was a start maybe not the best but the night was young.

Handsome friends! On a fun outing. Okay, well, no, it was still Amarus and Siku and Amarus was still more than a little off when it came to interaction wtih fellow students. But she was trying, really.

And even if she couldn't possibly know Siku was worried they were inedible, had she been able to know such a thing she would have been equally unthreatened: she knew her baking was delicious. She wasn't sure how, but it just happened that way. "I cannot wait to see how these work on you," she admitted, with a half-smile.

The serious tone was gone again; looks like it had really only been because she was admitting something that made her feel vulnerable. "I do not understand the first place to start, when building a life, because I never had one," she explained, "so even if I was to create a lie for myself, it would lack... sincerity, I guess."

An older sister? That didn't sound so bad. Mort was an older brother of sorts to her, after all, and she cherished that. "An older sister, I could be that. I suspect it's more likely my sister would have given me such a trinket for punching someone's teeth in, though," she admitted. Still, that could be her small ammendment to the story.

"Did you just... batt your lashes at me?" Amarus asked, startled out of her lie. She actually laughed, then. Amarus purchased the bell, tucked it into her bag, and cracked the tin of baked goods open, offering it to Siku. "A deal's a deal," she said, grinning.

The ghouls statement was a little odd and Spinar rose a curious brow while rummaging, "hm? You know it's not fair to leave me hanging like that don't you?" Standing up he gave a roll of his shoulders and dusted his hands off. These cookies were making him a little nervous now, perhaps he would pretend to eat them until he could test one on a mini.

Spinar winced internally, he didn't need rainbow skin again if these were infused with magic.

At yet another shift in tone Spinar eye'd the ghoul, gathering now how uncomfortable this must make her feel. But that didn't matter to him, what did however was now he had a sort of leverage on Maru, or so he thought. Forcing a sincere and somewhat reassuring smile he nodded, "understandably so.."

Ghosts were strange and it didn't help Maru that she was a ghoul, poor creature was doubly odd wasn't she.

Punching someone in the mouth huh? Spinar chuckled softly and nodded amused by the story and now realizing the ghoul was likely a fighter. "I did, but lets not get distracted by my adorableness alright, we have a job to do." He laughed a little harder and stuck his tongue out. Waiting for her to purchase the trinket he rocked back onto his heels and praised her just a little to keep the night more pleasant, "you know I thought you said you were bad at this? You just invented a sister.." After all he had simply said younger, no gender having been stated.

Glancing over the contents of the offered tin he hesitated before taking a cookie out, "ah thanks." Grinning back to her he turned the cookie once then twice. The smell wasn't offending and he couldn't really pick up any hints of commonly used magical spices, so with a sigh he bit the bullet. Or more of the cookie, taking a small corner into his mouth he slowly chewed and after mere seconds was giving a soft delighted hum. "Not bad, what do you call these?.." Taking another bite of the cookie he tried to think of his own family.

Trying to come up with a fake family was making Amarus realize how much she probably didn't need one. How it diminished, in her eyes, the significance of the family she had been building at Amityville all this time. She even had a big brother, after all, and Olivia was already like a little sister to her.

Somewhere buried within her, a fragment memory flickered to life: There is someone else, someone you're forgetting. A bitter taste rose unbidden and Amarus shook her head to clear her thoughts, biting on her lip. She was resisting the urge to break the skin and taste the sweet lotus wine of her own essence.

"Call them? Oh, I had not thought of it; I'm not sure. What would you call them?" she asked, distracted. "Hey, Siku, why don't we look for a trinket you like? Show me things you like," she said, entirely off topic now. Her face didn't betray any emotion, nor stress.

"Mhm, a name you know. " He hummed around another bite, a curious brow given in the ghouls direction. Weird she was such a weird one. Chewing slowly he could feel a sudden rush of calm come over him, it was strange but not unpleasant. Though he could tell within moments after eating the spookie that something had been baked inside of it.

"...Huh? " Slow, so slow. Spinar wrinkled a brow at his own delayed reaction time, shaking it off or attempting to he placed a hand to his chin in thought. What would he name them, that was hard considering he didn't even know what was in them. "Well, to answer that properly you'd have to give me your secret recipe." Chuckling he shrugged slightly and looked off over the junk as she changed the subject.

Typically he wouldn't be moved so easily, but considering his current mood and the fact that he hadn't been to into even doing this he took that change willingly. A trinket for him, how useless. Spinar had no need for such junk, not when his room was full of far fancier things but Siku however should probably play along. Forcing himself not to make a face he tried trailing ahead of the ghoul a little, "maybe we can find something that I can put my cards in?" It was all he had. Turning he gave the ghoul a wink over his shoulder and inquired curiously, "you know I never have asked what year you are?" Come to think of it there were many things he didn't know about her..this he intended to change.

"Ah, my recipe? It is hardly a secret," she said, but her wicked smile made it apparent that there was something unique about it. "You'd have to make me bleed before I'd tell you how to make these, though," she added, with a quick wink.

She was feeling a lot better, now that he was also feeling the effects of the cookies. Having someone else share her essence made it easier to be calm around them. Besides, it was harmless-- it was only in prolonged exposure that there was a risk of withdrawal. She should probably warn more students about that.

Oh well.

"Cards? Alright. What size and shape, roughly?" she asked, scanning the booths with a nearly militant look to her eyes.

Upon being asked what year she was, Amarus waved a hand casually, as if dismissing the significance of the question. "About to be third year," she said. "... if I ever go to my classes."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 01, 2013 5:48 pm

"Isn't it ?" chuckling sweetly he gives a shrug to her reply of making her bleed. Taking it for a joke he responded with one of his own, "well they have a pretty nice gym.." Smirking to the ghoul he yawns and stretches his hands back behind his head. He felt so relaxed it was making him sleepy, it was again strange but not unpleasant considering his lack of sleep lately.

Everything just seemed alright, and as they walked a little more his thoughts of leverage started to slip away. To relaxed to think about much more than the present. Had he not been, he may have caught the hint but as it was he hadn't.

"Huh...oh.." Grinning he moves his hands back to rest behind his neck as they walk, thinking over things. "Well, I have different cards, I use them like guides.. anyways something roughly rectangle shaped.." He said on a laugh before giving a shrug to the ghoul. This felt to boring and at the moment he wasn't really opposed to just telling her this if they continue on, "classes here are a drag...you're better off avoiding them..though..you probably know that..." Pausing on his heels he turns to give her a serious look before asking, "wanna get out of here?" She had changed the subject to him after all which meant she likely wasn't interested in more 'family' building activities.

They could do anything else at this point and he would be thrilled.

*sobs* I GOT ONLINE but I was too late to catch you ; A; I was here starting a few hours ago orz WHEN YOU SAID LATER I THOUGHT YOU MEANT LATER aggggh I will never catch you ; A;

A smile blossomed across Amarus' features again, a genuine one, but one with a sort of feral edge to it; "Yes, I spent a lot of my first year in the gym. Do you think you could fight me? I would like to see that," she said. Not fearlead, but fight. Forget standing idly by.

The more Spinar relaxed, the more Amarus did, too. She lost some of the edginess to her movement; it became far more fluid, and she seemed like she was actually enjoying herself, looking for cards. Anything, so long as they weren't looking for a fake family any more. "Some of them are useful," she did say, "like Thunder Road. They test your strength, agility... and give you a power you did not know you had, before. I am quite fond of those classes but, ah, they have no classmates involved." A lot easier. No homework, too.

"Yeah, let's get out of here, it's..." she leaned up, in an attempt to whisper the rest to him, as though it was a secret, "...full of junk here." She smirked and leaned back, jokingly offering her arm to him as though she intended to escort him out of The Collection.

It was only in passing; she grinned and dropped her arm, clasping her hands in front of her. "Got anywhere in mind?" she asked.

*touches your face* Lets spar......in bed. I mean fin to the gym ? ID

Being as oh so observant as he was it was easy for him to notice the change in the ghoul, even in his current state. Spinar lifted a brow and ran her over again, she didn't seem like the type to like fighting by looks but her words and gestures clearly proved her appearance wrong. Smirking a little darkly he turned to teasingly click his claws in her face, " I know I would fight, I think the better question would be..do I think I can win?" Snickering he left it at that, walking ahead with his hands behind his back.

As Maru caught up he paused letting her lean up to him and whisper, what came out had him chuckling and shaking his head. Turning back he whispered as well, "you're just now noticing?" Amused and in a much better mood now than what he started with he shifted a hand as if about to take the offered then promptly moved it to run through his hair teasingly. Where to go indeed.

Of course the only thought he had currently aside from what a smile was who could really win in a fight between them. Sure Mar was a year ahead of him but to him that really meant nothing, fighting was about skill but more than that it was about luck. Priding himself on being lucky as most demons he turned with a curled smile to the ghoul and lifted his chin, "the gym, ghouls first.." Flashing a wolfish grin the frost demon awaited the ghoul to accept the challenge, soon as she did he headed towards the gym smirk still in place.
