Mot stood outside Gene's door. Around his shoulder hung a large satchel, big enough to hold a picnic for two. A wide smile later and he was knocking three times.
"Gene? It's Mot! I thought we could spend some time together today. I made a lunch!"

It'd been a productive morning, one with menu planning and sandwitch brainstorming. She was on the tails of their signature sub, but was still missing that one special thing...
A knock and a voice that made her squeal with glee, and Gene flung the door open to embrace Mot. "Hi honey!" A quick smooch to his cheek, and she pulled away. "Ooooh, lunch sounds wonderful."

Mot's grin somehow got wider as Gene answered, making the reaper glow with glee. "Howdy, babe! Care to join me for a date at the Devil's Punchbowl cliffs? There's a nice spot with a weeping willow that's perfect for a picnic~."
Mot chuckled, bouncing one step back and waving his large satchel beckoningly. "Come with me~"

"Sounds perfect! The Ghost beamed, closing the door behind her and twisting the lock. She was never one to not get dressed in the morning, so her outfit was already picked for the day.
"So, what inspired the date?" She asked, looping her arm into his.

Mot held the arm looped within his own, leading the pretty ghoul out of the dorms. "Well, I don't particularly need a reason to want to see you. But I guess the date idea came to me because I heard someone else mention that location." He chuckled, shrugging his shoulders. "Not a completely original idea. But I've seen the place before, and it is truly amazing!"
The reaper's heart pitter pattered, delighted to be spending his day with Gene. It felt so good to have a ghoulfriend again. "Our lunch today is freshly brewed coffee in a thermos, some lightly salted jerky, and a basket of fruits. One of the apples might be a poison apple. I'm not sure if that is to your liking or not, buuuut I know CPR. So there is that."
He smiled cheekily and winked.

"Aww, you're such a sweetie." Gene cooed, knocking her head against his shoulder. It felt good to have a boilfriend, even if for the longest time she said she didn't need one. The fact was that she didn't -but she enjoyed having him all the same.
A light blush spread across her cheeks at Mot's little wink. Oh, he was going there, hm? Two could play at that game.
"Oh, but you don't know mouth to mouth? How sad..." She smirked at the double layered joke. "But hey, you had me at coffee."

They pair met the fresh Halloween air after exiting the dorms, the orange glow of the Pumpkin sun lighting the path ahead. "Who says I don't? I suppose you'll have to wait and see~" Mot teased with a chuckle.
"Well, good. I was hoping it would hook you in. My clever ploy has succeeded. So then! How has Gene been the past while? Well, I hope?"

Yup, that was definitely a deep cerulean blush that painted her features. Gene did want to see...but she would wait. Now wasn't exactly the time or place to learn about Mot's mouth to mouth skills. She had self control, unlike some other students.
Pursing her lips as they strolled along, Gene answered the boil with "I've been good for the most part. Xiu and I have been doing some more menu planning and tasting, I've been trying to develop a new blend for the grand opening, and...well..." The ghoul trailed off, not too exuberant about telling Mot what else had happened.

"That's wonderful! I'm so happy your two are really going through with it all." Mot exclaimed happily, even more excited to get that sign done for them. "I'd offer to help taste test, but I fear I would be useless at it. Unless you want a whining reaper with a tummy ache on your hands." With his limited pallet of food knowledge, and his tiny appetite, he was not the best taste tester at all. He'd do well enough as moral support, he hoped.
Gene seemed to trail off, leaving Mot waiting for an elaboration that never came. "And well, what? Don't leave me hanging." Mot kidded with a chuckle. "Unless, did things not go well?" He asked hesitantly with a waning smile.

"O....oh.. Really?" How odd. Why was Hel a reason the day went sour for her? Mot became worried. Hel was abrasive, yes. But did she perhaps offend Gene? Surely she didn't seek her out..
"Um.. did something... happen?" Mot asked nervously. Gene was his ghoulfriend. Hel was a good friend yet also his Ex.
This might get ugly..

Gene shook her head lightly, disappointed that she even had to bring this up. She wanted to put this memory behind, but, Mot deserved to know about it.
"She cornered me after I got off my shift at work, and basically threatened to kill me off permanently if I ever hurt you." The ghost recounted, sneering a little. "I don't even know why she would think that I would do anything."
A light sigh and Gene leaned into Mot a little deeper. "In hindsight, I guess it shows she still cares about you."

HEL IS THE REASON WHY MOT CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS
Mot's draw dropped, his blood boiled. Hel. She really needed some sort of mind to action filter. His free hand came to meet his forehead very quickly, resounding in a loud smacking sound. "Uggggh..." He dragged his hand down his face, looking at the girl cuddled on his arm and smiling wryly.
"I suppose so. But she shows her care in the worst ways possible." Which may have been one of the reasons he and she were no longer an item. Their ideals were as far away as the Sun was from Pluto. Or further. Definitely further. More like into another Galaxy.
Hel was in

much
trouble.
"I'm sorry." He murmured, kissing the top of her head lightly. "It won't happen again."
He would see to it that it didn't.

Gene's face took on a small frown at the way Mot was acting, brow furrowing with concern. "Sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your mood hon." Though she did smile at being kissed on the head.
They had better things to talk about instead of Hel being...Helish. Like what Mot was up to in his free time and things pertaining to Mot because Mot was the best thing since coffee (okay maybe they were on the same plane actually) and she wanted to hear how her boilfriend was doing.
"What have you been up to? How've you been? I mean, we text every day and all, but y'know..."

Mot grinned happily, his mood lightening up at the subject change. "Well, same old, really. I haven't done much outside my usual routine as of late. I should probably get out more." The reaper chuckled, linking his fingers into Gene's hand that held his arm.
"I did a lot of practicing with my harmonica though. A little more work on that sign for you and Xiu. I want it to be perfect. I also made a set of wooden wind chimes. Would you like them?"
