It all started the year of 2015. Global Warming went up only 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit, but who knew that would effect so much? Glaciers thawed, sea levels rose and then the hurricane came. It decimated Florida, leaving nothing but miles and miles of ruins. Many people ran to other states, and people began to realize they had to do something or else it would only get worse, but America was selfish. They did not want to give up their money, technology, and supplies to other countries to keep them going, so they did not stop their ways, and neither did America, only making everything worse.
By 2027, much of the west had become a desert in America, and people from Latin America were trying to get into America. It was on the news later that night. Someone had blown a hole in the gate and people had surged in. When someone called the police, no one could have predicted the violence that would take place. Without a care to who they were hurting, the police fired into the crowd, killing Americans and Latin Americans, women and children.
By 2040, there is no more water in the West end everyone is moving, trying to get somewhere with supplies. The East is almost in the same state, but is barely hanging on. The only hopes left are communities that are totally green, running on electricity, wind, and solar power. Many however are trying to head to Canada, but there is one group of young people, orphans now, that have decided to head to a city in Kansas that is rumored to be totally green and self efficient.
To get there, most of them have started out in the South West where all the problems started. Can they face gangs, raids, and other refugees out to steal their supplies? And will they get enough money to get everything they need to travel? These are their stories.

[»] At a young age, she was alive when things were semi-normal, but as she aged and started to watch tv more, she realized things were very wrong. As storms became worse and new diseases popped up, she knew something was happening. A few months ago, her parents had loaded her up in their van and just started to drive, only stopping when her father taught her to use tonfa. Soon, they were traveling along the road and someone shot through her mother's window. Immediately, she had dropped to the floor and hid like she had been taught while someone killed her father. When they opened her door, she ran out, but was caught. They kept her, planning on using her as a slave, until she cut out of the ropes that held her with the weapons her father had given her hidden in her skirt. Now, she wonders around Mexico, gathering supplies and getting ready to travel north.

[»] Tatsuya was born and raised in the mountain ranges of the Philippines. His father had Japanese blood and his mother had Spanish blood, but no matter the origin, they called themselves Filipinos. However, when things began turning bad in the East, his family decided to move West, to America. Boy, were they met with surprise to see that the situation there was no different than in the East. Tatsuya was taught English from a young age, so he was fluent with both Tagalog and English, with a couple of phrases in Japanese.
The transition from the Philippines to America didn't give Tatsuya a big strain. He got accustomed, because it was just the same. Only that America was much larger, and in the Philippines, his family had the mountain tribes to rely on. Tatsuya's father managed to salvage a car and had planned a journey to travel to Guatemala, or perhaps Mexico to gain access to the Gulf of Mexico and hopefully hitch a boat to go to Portugal or maybe even as far inland as Greece.
The plan was far-fetched, and when a group of looters attacked his family on the road, Tatsuya fought alongside his father. However, they were defeated. Tatsuya and his mother were forced to watch as the looters beat Tatsuya's father to death. As the looters were about to grab whatever they could out of the salvaged car, Tatsuya's mother threw a rock at one of the men and killed him. The rest of the men forced Tatsuya's mother on the ground and raped her in front of Tatsuya, then summarily killed her. Thinking Tatsuya was no threat (mostly because the shock of seeing his father brutally murdered and the screams of his mother as she was being raped echoed in his mind rendered him broken), they left him.
Tatsuya stayed by his parents' body for three days, until an ex-special ops Russian soldier found him. She buried his parents' bodies and took him in as her own, teaching him how to shoot a gun and to be proficient with all weapons available. When Tatsuya and the soldier were journeying to Mexico, she got poisoned from a water source she thought was clean, and she begged Tatsuya to end her suffering. She was Tatsuya's first kill, and the repeated deaths in his life steeled him. If he saw anyone harming other people, he wouldn't hesitate to kill them.
The ability to pull the trigger no matter what he felt in his heart. The scariest asset he has.

[»] Claire went on a trip to Mexico before everything went down. was an exchange student before everything happened. She planed to study music in college when she first came to the 'States but everything is going to ruin and she has no idea what to do. All the friends she made left and she left all her family in Ireland. She's now stuck in Mexico surrounded by disease and extreme weather. Hopefully she can find other people to venture back up north to some place said to be completely green and have water.
