Basic Information

Other than the outwards appearance, the weapon is functionally similiar to the AA-12. It has a retractable stock with a massive hydraulic buffer and utilizes similiar drum magazines and box magazines. The weapon utilizes an adjustable retractable stock, that gives the weapon a length of 35-38 inches with an 18 inch barrel, or 30-33 inches with a 13 inch barrel.

The weapon uses a polygonal cobalt chrome "flow formed" barrel; the barrel is made of an alloy that contains more than 50 percent cobalt. The barrel is roughly 13% heavier than standard steel barrels, but is more erosion and corrosion-resistant and is designed to retain high strength during long-term exposure to high temperatures. Cobalt alloys are frequently used in the aerospace industry, such as the hot-gas section of turbine engines. A proof of concept M240 7.62mm x 51mm NATO barrel, in practice, had 24,000 rounds test-fired through it, causing it to reach temperatures of 1,100 degrees, without failure. A steel barrel would have failed under such treatment. Due to to the barrel being polygonal, the weapon achieves the same velocity as ordinary smoothbore weapons, but still retains rifling for use in stabilizing rounds.

The weapon can fire standard 2.75 inch 12 gauge rounds or Frag-12 rounds. The Frag-12 rounds can, in their general format, pierce 1/4 inch of rolled homogenous steel, and produce substantial shrapnel, with about 1/4 the power of a standard 40mm grenade. The armor piercing grenade produces little shrapnel, but lots of concussive force, capable of piercing 1/2 inch of rolled homogenous steel. With the drum, the weapon is capable of firing a variety of multiple purpose rounds, from slugs, to door breaching rounds, to flechettes.

The weapons is, in it's lightened form, approximately 4.76 kilograms, or 10.5 lb, and the weapon is approximately 6.8 kilograms loaded with 20 rounds, or 15 pounds.
