Photography: He got the chance to take a photography class in camp one summer as a kid and afterward had to have a camera. He begged his parents for one and after a month of constant badgering he was given one. He has been taking pictures ever since and has take loads of classes in school and at the community center for his passion. He has gotten more and more creative with it over the years and at 16 finally succeeded in convince his parents to build a dark room in the basement, so he could develop his picture himself. Now at 23 the whole basement is his haven, with the dark room, that has a revolving door to keep the light out, but opens to a space with a desk, computer for photo manipulation and enhancement, as easel, paints and all sort of art supplies, most of which as used for his photography.
Writing: Piled up on his desk are in both his photography have and in his room are notebooks, composition and spiral, all containing his writing. More than half simply contain fanfiction that he has written over the years. Anything from Pokemon stories to Lord of the Rings and Kindred. However there is a portion that have poems as well as short stories all unique and original to Ryan, to a point anyway, as most things that are written about have been done somewhere in history. Ryan writes almost strictly for leisure and writing very relaxing. It is an activity Ryan most does in his down time, though he has tried NaNoWriMo and really enjoys the get togethers.
Non-contact sports and activities: He is a jock for sports, but only the ones that don't involved his person coming into contact with another person, not to say he hasn't played them. He was however banned from both football and wrestling in school for "temper tantrums" and that's putting it mildly. He prefers sports and activites like track and field, swimming, volleyball, golf, biking, hiking, tennis, surfing and gymnastics. If he's not going to be touched, you name, he's there. Track and field activities tend to be is favorite, he excels at hurdling and long jump, followed by biking and swimming. He has competed in three triathlons, and while he hasn't won one yet, he intends to continue participating.
Virtues:
On the task at hand! - When Ryan is doing something or talking to someone he likes to give them his full attention. If you are talking to him or working with him you can be damn sure he's paying attention. He's a good person to unload on if simply for the fact you know he's listening even if you know you might not like what he says after you've finished. He excels in an academic environment because he has never been the type talk and goof off in class. He tends to keep his focus on the lesson and the teacher because that is what he is suppose to be doing. This is not to say he hasn't goofed off in class, as there are times when people have gotten his attention before class, but he tries to avoid this with promises of later and in a few minutes.
Keeping everything together! - Ryan is not one to procrastinate. He doesn't like to see things sit and doesn't like to be behind. If he can; any homework, projects, studying he has to do will be done post haste. He likes to see things through start to finish, usually as quickly and as accurately as possible and when he sets out do something, time and energy willing, he gets it done. He doesn't like to revisit things, so he try to make sure everything is done right. His room is neat and organized, he keeps his chores done, and very much likes to follow a schedule if possible, not to say he needs one because he doesn't. If he sees, the floor needs sweeping, he sweeps it. If his needs clean clothes he washes them. Because of this he has also always been a very self sufficient person, not needing to be told very often to do things. He very much likes his free time and doesn't really care for nagging so getting every thing out of the way early works best for him.
Give it a chance! - He's an opportunist, he'll give most things a try especially if it benefits him in some way. If you are the new kid in town he is perfectly willing to get to know you. If he can say he knew you first and befriend you this might benefit him later in life. While he won't go out of his way to try something new or meet someone different, he rarely turns down a seemingly worthwhile experience. Of course he has his quirks, mostly not liking to be touched, so obviously some things are just out of the question, but else wise he's good to go. He very much believes in the statement what's life without new experiences. He wouldn't have found his love for photography if he'd not tried it first, it will be his future money maker, so he is very please about the decision.
Flaws:
A little room, please! - In general Ryan is a very private person. It not very easy to get close to him without a reason, he doesn't make a habit of talking about his life, or letting people really get to know him. It takes him a while to get use to people even when he is the one to initiate a friendship. He only allows his closest of friends into his personal spaces and even then he's wary about having them invading even with an invitation. Attempts to touch him, especially by a stranger, are usually met with a withering glare and a wide berth. He will jerk out of the way of the offending appendage and reprimand its owner for even thinking to lay a finger on him. When he was younger his reaction was to punch. It takes time to befriend Ryan and sometimes if just isnt worth that effort, to have a friend who is so distanced.
There are children present! - Ryan may not necessarily have the worst potty mouth, but he doesn't have a filter and he doesn't censor himself. He generally speaks his mind and doesn't give much thought to how other's will view what he is saying. If asked about something he will give his honest opinion and often in the most blunt of manners. Ask him if you look fat in an outfit and if you do, prepare to have your feelings hurt, though he will likely offer an alternative suggestion. He isn't above pointing out dumb mistakes and tends to lecture people on those mistakes. Though often if you choose to listen to his words you may find good advice in them because he's assumes this is why you told him anyway. It makes him appear to not only be an a*****e, but to appear haughty, arrogant, grandiose... all of the above.
I'm not laughing ...: Ryan doesn't really have a sense of humor. He doesn't really find many things very funny, especially in reference to himself. He is often very serious and while he may listen to a joke because of course he wouldn't mind hearing it, don't expect him to actually laugh. He has always been that way, he's a drag at movies, it pointless to take him to comedy hour and forget trying pranks on him or anyone else for that matter. That is not to say he doesn't find anything funny at all. He is human, he does laugh, but often at the most inappropriate of times and when the situation isn't very funny. His humor is mostly all his own and he is happy to keep it that way.

Clothes: He tends to wear more stylish, clean cut, or high end clothes, things that clearly say don't touch. He is very fashion forward, loves vest and jackets, and loves to accessorize.
