Never played Harvest Moon, but characters can get married in Fire Emblem Awakening. Provides a massive team up boost, and they have children that come from the future to join you if you complete the side quests that open up.

Well a lot has changed over the years. Shadow Dragon and a few others had a support system, and Shadow Dragon let you change classes. In Awakening, characters standing side by side can tag in to attack, or defend the unit, nullifying a hit. As their support grows, bonuses improve, and the chance of tag ins increases. Married couples have the highest boosts, but can still get A rank support. They also added a pair up system, similar to a character being carried by another. No limitations, and no constitution stat. The paired units count as one, and the main unit is out, gaining buffed stats from the other unit.
