I love all the attention we are getting. How could the entire world not want to meet me? Haemath crooned as he and Canoake made their way to the bathing areas. The lake was small but enough that he could swim and Canoake could watch. He was itching a lot and getting scrubbed got rid of the smaller hide. I wonder who else will dare to approach us?

Canoake had actually put on light work clothing. She learned quickly that it didn't matter how well you tied up your skirts, a dragon in a bath always got them soaked. So today, because she was still enjoying the grimace every time M'onk saw her, she was wearing a very light pink, sleeveless shirt with darker tanned, tight fitting pants and laced up sandals. Her dark locks were pulled up and piled on her head, showing off her shoulders and neck. "What do you think? Do I look tempting enough? Most of these males guards seem to be acting the same way. And of course, everyone should dare approach us. The sooner we make allies, the sooner you can fly, the sooner we can leave this place. All of Pern deserves to see your beauty."

Haemath splashed his way into the waters and sunk down a little. It's true. But first, we must protect the others so they can leave as well.

Canoake frowned, still not quite understanding the urge of Haemath's to help the others. But she shrugged. "If you say so."

You really should talk to one of the little ones, his dragon badgered, dropping down to land at the bathing area. I have even found one for you. The little pink.

Pain. He playfully hit his dragons shoulder, before sliding down. What's his name?

Haemath.

Alright then. He took off his shirt and boots, rolling up his pants. He hadn't come prepared for dragon washing, but he knew from experience that they would dry fairly quickly. He made his way over to the girl and the pink, looking him over. He was a good looking little hatchling, built much like a bronze, though only time would tell if he would be as large as one. "Would you like some help?"

Canoake looked up to see a blue coming in for a swim and his rider, apparently getting ready to give him a bath. He didn't look too bad and his blue didn't seem like he was going to jump all over Haemath. Yet. She gave the rider a glance and went back to paying attention to her lovely. Canoake was pretty sure he was one of the watch... and yep, there was the conversation starter. Really, couldn't they be a little more inventive? This one was going to have to work for it.

"No thanks. For now, he is small enough that I can handle him myself. However, if you are washing your fellow as well, don't mind us. We don't take up much space." She tossed her hair and undid her sandals. Grabbing her brush, one that had been for her use, and met Haemath in the waters. "What do you say, love? Ready to be clean?"

Haemath moved closer to his rider and glared at the blue. Hello there, come to speak to us or get clean?

"Suit yourself." He shook his head. "Nah, pain over there just thinks that I should start talking to you weyrlings rather than the wherhandlers and non-impressed guards. Haven't quite figured out why myself, I'm sure my wingmates have you lot taken care of." He wasn't quite sure what they were going to do with all the info, but hey, anything to help out the queen.

He flopped down onto the ground, the perfect picture of nonchalance. "The name's E'koyo."

I have come to enjoy the sunshine, he responded to the pink, opening up one sleepy eye to look at him. So I would appreciate you not splashing me. My rider is supposed to be talking to you, but he will probably figure out a way to weasel out of it.

She gave him a cool look, feelings still mixed from the last interview. Carefully, Canoake began to scrub her dragon's back, enjoying the sounds he was making. His explanation seemed solid enough but she wondered what his real motive was... If he had one. "Suit yourself. You must be from Watch... So far, I have only spoken with one of your wing members. He seemed.. interesting enough. My name is Canoake. This is Haemath."

Haemath looked up at the blue. He was sure that one day he would be bigger than the other dragon. He didn't know how he knew... It was a feeling he had. Still, the other dragon was being polite. I will not splash you. And Canoake doesn't mind speaking to others. But she will not chase him either. My rider does not chase anyone. Except for me.

"Should I be apologizing for him?" he asked, half serious. Some of his wingmates could be...a bit much if you weren't expecting them. "It's nice to meet you both." He had forgotten just how small hatchlings were, especially right after being born. It had been a long time since Agith had been that small. My blue is Agith, by the way."

I appreciate that, young one. Mine will get around to talking to her eventually. His eyes whirled in amusement as he thought about the girl chasing around the hatchling. Does she chase you often?

He watched her scrub for a moment. "He looks like a handful." All hatchlings were in a way, but typically the bigger the dragon, the bigger the personality, though he supposed that some of the greens would probably be a good arguement against that. The bond didn't appear to be any different between the two of them, though he wasn't quite sure how you'd be able to tell. It was hard enough to explain in the first place, and he couldn't imagine trying to ask if there were any differences. Maybe if there were mutated firelizards.

Were there mutated firelizards? He hadn't heard of any, but that didn't necessarily mean that there weren't. He'd have to ask the rest of his wingmates if they had heard any rumors about them. Between the lot of them, if there were rumors, they probably would have heard them.

"How big is he compared to the rest of the hatchlings?"

"I am not sure, yet. It seems that some people don't appreciate pink as a male color. Hello Agith, don't mind Haemath. He hasn't quite grown into his ego yet." Canoake replied smoothly. So far, this rider seemed a little looser than the last one she spoke too. But, then again, the conversation wasn't very far along. Continuing down the pink's spine, she made sure to get under and around his wings and the creases.

When I let her. I mostly chase the beasts though I can't catch them yet. And sometimes I hide in her clothes, then she dresses me. I don't like that.

"Oh, bigger than the grays, greens, and blues. Bigger than the brown , I think. Someone said he was the size of a bronze or close to it." Not that she cared too much. At least until he outgrew M'onk's beast.

"You'll probably have that problem for a while," he remarked. "Especially from the bronze riders. This little guy insults them just by existing, and it probably won't help that you're a female." They were tempermental like that, and some of the brown riders weren't much better.

Of course, blue and green riders weren't completely free of such issues either, but if the pink ended up being bronze sized, he would end up dealing with the larger colors more. Especially if Haemath ended up being a queen chaser. He couldn't help but grin at the idea of some of the bronze riders that he knew, not his wingleader but some of the others, having their dragons be beaten by this grand pink dragon. "Oh, I do hope he ends up that big. Maybe it'd bring their arrogance down a few notches."

The dragon chuckled. You will be able to catch them before too long. You are strong, and if you keep practicing I am sure that you will even be the first one of your siblings to suceed. He was not sure exactly what to say about Haemath being dressed up, his had never tried to do anything like that to him. She will not be able to do that for long. Young dragons grow fast, and before you know it, you will be bigger than any clothing that she can get.

"Oh, yeah, he said, suddenly, a thought popping into his head. I don't suppose you could tell me what was up with the pile of discarded meat on the sands could you? Was the meat bad or something?" He wouldn't think so, but you never knew. Maybe one of the kitchen workers wasn't as happy about the prisoners impressing and had deliberately put in bad meat for them. It wouldn't surprise him, and wouldn't even be the worst thing that he had ever heard of.
