Sanuye smiled to herself while looking at her beautiful family. They were still sleeping, she had woken up before them for once. She knew that soon they would wake up and the day's events would begin. Sometimes things got a little busy around here, but she loved it. She looked at her sisters now, still smiling and resisting the urge to poke them to wake them up. She carefully and quietly slipped past them and away a little bit to munch on some grass and to watch the last bits of the sunrise fade into blue skies. They would be awake soon. She looked back towards them with another smile, her long tail swaying in the slight breeze.

She couldn't imagine what would happen if she lost them. She couldn't fathom how painful that would be. Of course the herd would help her find them, they were all family as well. But if her mother, father, and sisters were ever missing from her life...she shuddered, telling herself not to think about such things. They would always be here, they would be together forever. She would never let them go.

Elisheva stretched as she woke, shaking out her mane, and unfurling her wings. She looked around to see what kind of morning it was. It seemed like it might be a nice spring day, but time would tell. Not that she had planned much - maybe a flying lesson with her mother, or a long walk with one or both of her sisters.

Standing, she started to tidy her wings, curling each one around so that she could check the feathers were in good shape. Nivriti had told her the importance of good wing health, and so she had become diligent in looking after them, making it the first part of her day.

That done, she folded them against her flanks once more, and looked around to see who was awake. She didn't see Sanuye right away, and so she cast around to see where her sister had gotten to.

The sound of movement and rustling feathers drew her attention and she turned to see Elisheva up and awake. She smiled excitedly and greeted her sister with a whinny. "Good morning! How'd you sleep?" she asked curiously and gave a little hop towards her sister. She felt her belly grumbling at her and wondered if Elisheva was hungry as well. She would give it a few moments before asking so as to give her some time to wake up.

She tried to flip a stray chunk of hair out of her face but was unsuccessful in doing so. Looking at Elisheva, she wondered how her sisters kept their hair so perfect all the time, even after sleeping. Perhaps it was just that she didn't mind so much, or maybe they were so used to caring for their wings that it was just second nature for them to care for their hair.

"Are you hungry just yet?" she finally asked, her eagerness to begin the day taking over.

''morning..' Elisheva replied, stifling a yawn and wondering how her sister could be so chipper already. She wasn't a grumpy morning person by any means, but she needed more time to be herself and maybe a drink to rid her mouth of the cottony feeling it had.

'That'll never stay you know.' she commented, catching Sanuye trying to shake her mane from out of her face, watching as it fell back to where it was before the mare tried.

'Thirsty..' she replied, trying to work out what she'd done during her sleep that made her feel like she could drain a lake dry.

She knew her sister liked her space in the mornings, so she wasn't offended by her short answers and sleepy yawns. She tried to keep quiet so as not to wake the others as well. "You're probably right," she smiled and shrugged hopelessly at her bangs, glancing up at them and blowing on them a little so they danced in the airwaves, "Let's go get a drink then." She moved first, sure that her sister was too groggy to lead the way.

"How did you sleep?" she asked as she walked, looking back over her shoulder at her sister. She couldn't help her excitement that Elisheva was awake. They were often too busy playing as a whole or learning new things to really have one-on-one time. Their lives were busy, but it was times like this that made Sanuye truly happy. Time to connect, time to enjoy the world without rushing past it.

'I know I am,' Elisheva said, yawning again, hearing a slightly clicking noise in her jaw as she did so and wincing at it. She wiggled her jaw, getting all the clicks out and followed her sister, her tail swishing across the ground as she moved in a sedate, half-awake fashion.

'Okay I guess, I don't remember waking or moving around too much, so I must have slept okay.'

She wondered how long her sister had been awake waiting for one of her family to rise.
'What do you have planned today?' she asked, as they neared the closest water source, her ears catching the sound of running water.

She smiled at her sister's morning behavior, still loving her for everything. "Oh, I was thinking of exploring today. What do you think?" she asked. She wasn't usually one for exploring. It was often difficult and tiresome and even scary to her. But today she was feeling adventurous, especially if it meant Elisheva would come with her. She hadn't been outside of the herd territory in...ever really. She wasn't even sure if it was allowed. But she didn't want to lay around and be lazy today, today was a do-something day.

"Did you have any plans?" she asked her sister, wondering if she might have a better idea. Elisheva was smart, she knew lots of things. Perhaps she could find something for them to do around the herd's territories.

Elisheva hadn't really thought about it yet; not beyond having a drink to get rid of that 'morning mouth' feeling and breaking her fast. She flicked an ear as she went over to the small stream, getting an all-body shiver as she dipped her mouth into the water. She felt better for it though and she turned to her sister after taking a drink.

'Exploring? Did you have a place in mind or did you want to see where your hooves took you?'

Elisheva had no qualms about going outside their herd territory, she knew their brothers did it all the time, and whilst their elder sister Nalani was content to let Kodah keep her on short reins until she made a good match (or at least so it seemed), she wanted to see a broader world before she turned thoughts to mate and family.

'And no not yet. Though there were some rocky hills I'd seen in the distance that I fancied climbing. I hadn't really fixed a day for doing so.'

She blushed at her sister's question. "I didn't have anywhere in mind. Just...wherever my hooves take me," she nodded , blowing her hair out of her face again and watching as it fell back in place. She shrugged innocently and wondered what her sister would think of the idea. She and her sister had one thing in common at least: neither of them left the herd's territory very often.

Rocks in the distance seemed like a nice place to start exploring. If she could see it from the herd it was somewhere that she could tolerate going to. Anywhere beyond that was usually something frightening for her to think about. But today she was feeling brave, perhaps she would go past the rocks. As long as her sister came with her. She would never go alone.

"Those sound like fun! Let's go!" she whinnied and then remembered that her sister was still waking up and blew at her bangs again awkwardly.

'And how far were your hooves wanting to take you?' Elisheva asked with a small grin. Although their home was dear to them both, she was eager to see more of the world, and hoped that Sanuye felt the same.

'You really should just make peace with your mane.' she said, going up to her sister and tucking a strand behind her ear before stepping back and smiling at her.

'When it's windy, it'll be even worse.' she chuckled at her sister's excitement and nodded.
'Okay, let's take a stroll over there. No rush after all, we have the whole day, and it should be a nice one.'

Her eyes widened at the thought of going further past the rocky hills. She was nervous about leaving, but she was sure it would be alright with Elisheva there with her. She considered asking Althalus or Nivriti to come along, but she frowned at herself. She would never be able to be on her own if she asked mommy and daddy to come along with her everywhere. She was sure Elisheva would disapprove if she suggested it. She smiled at her sister, giggling about her hair.

"Alright, let's go that way and see what happens," she nodded, following after her sister. "Should we tell mother or father where we're going?" she asked, still hesitating a little and looking over her shoulder. She told herself to calm down and enjoy the day's adventures. She was sure her parents would understand.

Elisheva caught her sister's expression but didn't say anything. She would see once they started on their little trip that there wasn't anything to worry about.

The mare turned on her hooves, an errant breeze clipping and ruffling her feathers, and took a moment to tidy them before she headed off, Sanuye in tow. She shook her head at her sister's question.

'They'll know we haven't gone far, you cannot fly after all, so we can only go as far as our..your hooves want to go.' she said, slowing her pace slightly, turning so that their path would take them in a roundabout way to the hills she'd seen. They would have to go down and across a valley, and through a break of trees if she remembered rightly before the land started to be rocky and climb skywards.

'So no need.'

Sanuye's crimson pelt turned a deeper shade of maroon on her cheeks at the mention of her lack of wings. It was something she sometimes wished she had. The ability to fly was one thing that she always envied of her sisters. Elisheva had pointed out quite readily that she could not fly, and it almost embarrassed her. She didn't like to be jealous of them. But their wings were so beautiful. She shook the thoughts from her mind and smiled at her sister.

"You're right, Eli. But I bet I could beat you in a race on foot!" they were fully grown now, so a race seemed like a silly suggestion, but it would at least get her a running start in her venture away from home. She giggled and took off running without another word, heading towards the rocky slope. She had learned early on to catch up with her sisters in at least one way, but it had been a long time since they had raced. Perhaps Eli would beat her on land as well, but all that mattered now was that she was going on an adventure.

Elisheva tilted her head, regarding her sister thoughtfully. She would be surprised to hear about her sister's envy of her wings; she didn't see the point of wanting or wishing for what you did not have and couldn't possibly get.

After all, their brothers and sisters were a mix of winged and non, but they were all healthy, and born into a loving family. That was far more important to Eli.

'A fair race!' Elisheva called after her sister and then shook her head, laughing as she took off after Sanuye. She tucked her wings tighter against her sides, but they still slowed her down, the feathers that helped her in the sky were a hindrance as they dragged her speed down.

She was glad to hear her sister laughing, but she did not slow down. The wind swept her mane out of her face and for once she could see everything. But she wasn't really paying attention to where she was going. No, for once she didn't care if she left home. The wind in her mane made her feel suddenly adventurous, and the fact that she was winning the race made her feel daring. She grinned back over her shoulder at her sister and the jealousy for wings was lifted away from her.

As she looked back, she realized she was all too close to the rocky hills that had previously seemed so far away. She had to dig her hooves into the earth to stop herself from running headlong into a large boulder. She found herself looking cross eyed at a mossy spot on the great rock. "Oops!" she giggled faintly, taking a step back and looking around again for Elisheva.

Edit: Haha. xD Totally posted this on my mule. Oh welll.
