Hey there fellow FEFer's. It's been a pretty long time since I made a thread around here actually.. But anyways, so I was rummaging through some of my older games on the Gamecube for nostalgia and all that. Some Sonic games.. and some other junk.

And so I was wondering if anyone had ever played a game with really awful controls, or just plain bad. But in spite of all of that you could still find some enjoyment out of it?

Oh yeah I was also curious what everyone's first game was? Just for the heck of it~ sweatdrop

I thought it would be kinda fun to share our thoughts and all that. So I suppose I'll start things off. As for me, it's actually quite shocking but the game I played that I didn't think was that horrendous was Sonic R. It's a pretty old racing game that was originally on the Sega Saturn.(Though I never owned one so I got it in a Sonic PC game collection later when I was like around 10 or so)

And it seems to be hated a lot mainly because of how bad the controls were. Though, as I got older I realized the game was badly flawed in so many ways. I was pretty into the sonic games as a kid and I thought he was awesome. But as a kid I really loved anything that was sonic related, so I probably didn't notice it.

For some reason there's something about the game that fills me with joy every time I play it. It's probably the music that makes it so enjoyable, or lighthearted. Sure it's cheesy and most people feel it doesn't fit the stages all too well, but I didn't mind and they are rather catchy. Or it could be those amusing AI challengers that do really really funny stuff during races. I feel the game had so much potential and there was some cool ideas, but it just wasn't executed too well.. -shrugs-

As for my first game it was a game called Vectorman on the Sega Genesis. I remember playing that game a lot back when my Sega was still functioning... Very fun game as I recall not many people remember that one though.

*cues the Angry Video Game Nerd's theme song*

If game I ever have IS the one with the awful control. What was it? GBA: Pirates of the Caribbean. I'm a PotC fan, okay? >>;

Anyway, the graphic looks like it was 8-bit game and the control..... Argh! How I loathe it. Slow reaction with hitting the buttons, terrible accuracy when moving the character, and not to mention, I can't even change the game setting to what I like. LOL XD Not to mention, every mission needs a password when you want to replay and Gods, it took forever trying to memorize so many different password. But let's just say that after I beat the game, I have NEVER touch it since. >>; Although I loathe how the game setting and graphic of the game was, I kinda enjoyed the storyplot since it's like a prequel of what happened to Jack before the first movie.

However, I had played some other games that had terrible control settings, whether they be new or old. For example, the newest game of Castlevania (even though I'm not a huge fan of it) for the 3DS. I tried the demo of it just to see how fair the game is. The setting is somewhat decent, but its reaction is fairly off. Can't react quicker to the control I move or attack. The graphic is somewhere okay; there are some that I'm okay while others I'm not. For example, when exploring the castle, the graphic made my character looks small when entering the castle, making me wish there was a camera for me to zoom in. Yes, I'm aware the company wants to show how awesome the background is, but sheesh, I feel like they are making my character as an ant. LOL XD Although there are some dislikes in the game, I enjoy how the gameplot is setting and think about playing it again on the demo (I have no intention of buying the actual game since... You know, not being a fan of Castlevania. >>; )

He's gonna take ya back to past~ lol

Pirates of the Carribeans huh... I have heard those movies are pretty awesome. xD

But yeah Castlevania games are just very difficult games. I'm not really a fan of the series either. I only managed to beat the 1st game on the nes one time before. It was a pretty cool game for what it was(But those dang floating medusa heads >.<) I do know that James Rolfe of Avgn favorite castlevania game is Super Castlevania because of how free the controls were, but the music and graphics seem very impressive from what I saw of that Castlevania marathon video a couple years back..

Though, I have played this one castlevania demo on the Ps3 and I can see what you mean. The character I controlled as seemed really tiny compared to the background and I had to adjust to the camera angle somehow but it just didn't feel right...
