Rokana looked down at the small letter in his hands with a smile. The new weyrling handed the little blue flit a tidbit of meat, and wished his little visitor well. All of a sudden, it seemed to him, everything was blue. It certainly was his favorite color, now more than ever. The man flopped down in a chair wih a sigh, such an exhausting day. He'd spent the evening bathing and oiling Cyanath, and once that was finished he had begun moving his own things into his new quarters--the blue hatchling nosing through everything he could. He was insatiably curious, inspecting each and every item Rok'na brought in. Rok'na. That was his name now. It would take some getting used to, but he could hardly say he disliked his new title. He had just finished moving in the last of his stores of tea and wine when the little blue flit had come with its letter from the Weyrlingmaster.
Rok'na, I'm boooooored the blue hatchling sat on the floor, a box of wine bottles knocked over and scattered before him. Rok'na frowned. He certainly liked getting into things. Rok'na on the other hand certainly did not like picking it all up. Again.
"You should be tired. You've bathed, you've eaten-"
But I'm hungry again. And bored. The blue hatchling's head popped up, Definetly bored. Too bored to sleep.
Rok'na sighed, he just wanted to relax and sleep, but he could easily understand the hatchling's sentiment. He wanted to get to know the other new riders, but now? He'd known them for years, sort of. The man had always kept his distance from others, approachable but never friendly. He'd likely be branded strange for wanting to know everyone all of a sudden.
Oh, Stuff it. The hatchling dismissed his rider's thoughts as quickly as the man had thought them. He was thinking on his own track, his little mind whirling. Cyanath had been poking around his rider's mind--he was sure Rok'na had been doing the same. He'd seen flashes of feasts and celebrations after hatchings. Why weren't they having one? The day had been crappy but just about all standards, everyone could use a party. Let loose and relax a bit. The hatchling watched as his rider began picking up the wine bottles. Cyanath gave a small snort of a laugh, did his rider think that there would be a shortage of fruits in the future? He had enough wine and tea to last for years.
Just like that a bulb went off in the hatchling's head. He half pounced on his rider, expression pulled into a bright toothy grin. Let's have one! Let's have a party!
Rok'na rested his face in his palm. "Cyanath, everyone is tired, and the DragonWatch is here. With how strained everything got today, I don't think now is the right time for a party."
Are you kidding? Now is the perfect time for a party! His rider groaned and the hatchling let out a long wine as he pawed at his rider's waist. Come ooooonnn! All the other hatchings get a feast. Why can't we? The rider let out a long breath. Cyanath had a point, and it didn't help any that Rok'na was already having trouble saying no to his bonded. "...Alright. Fine. Whatever you want."

A quick call down to the kitchen and some persuasion using some of his better vintages soon brought heaps of fresh meat, along with a fine assortment of food for any new riders that showed. Wine was set out for anyone who hadn't impressed, along with glasses, not to mention water boiling and a wide assortment of teas for the new Weyrlings. The letter had said no drinking, after all. Cyanath looked over his rider's handiwork, and thrummed in delight.
He reached his mind out to all of his new brothers and sisters,
Hey, who's up for a Party?! Come one, Come all, it's time to have some Fun!

Irath was not entirely sure what to think as more dark red strands of hair rained freely down-damp from his bond partner's recent bath- to litter the rug, the ottoman, the vanity. The small grey lazed on the loveseat, comfortable on the leather seats, eyes whirling mostly content blue green with a tinge of yellow. Joscelin had rather shut down after the scissors had come up and the first strand of hair had been clipped. Something important was going on and Irath wanted to know. he chattered on. Irath could do this forever.

The scissor's blade took off a other length of hair, the damp strand sliding down his wrist in a cool tingle. Joscelin paused, set the scissors down, and finger combed his mass of hair, checking lengths to make sure it was all a little above his shoulders. Irath constant chatter was soothing noise and he sighed, ignoring the wide tooth comb in favor of his fingers as he teased his hair back into shape. He sent back, still uneasy about the silent method of conversation.

Irath balked to a stop in his babble, taking in the shorter hair with a new eye and growing interested. Don't think he didn't catch that change of words! Irath chattered, cheerfully turning to lounge in the comfortable piece of furniture. Irath found it to be tasty and flavorful and < you look good, mine.>

Joscelin brushed a strand from his shoulder, taking in the mess on the rug. Great. He stepped over the mess of hair to the dresser, looking through his clothes for something short sleeved. Skin cleaned easier then clothing and he was going to be elbow deep in blood and other things for some time now. Short sleeves would be practical. He settled on a warm fawn with a pale green cloth belt.

Irath hummed, eyes loosing the yellow to the usually happy swirl of green blue as his rider started talking again. he paused and wiggled gleeful.

"What?"

Irath sang, following the thread of thought to reply back solely to Cyanath. A party would be fun and relaxing and his really needed to meet people. It would be awesome.

"Fine." Joscelin sighed, raking a hand through his shorter hair. "When is it? Where, etc."

Marue twirled in place, stopping to face her hatchling. "What do you think?" Her face was pulled in a bright smile, though her eyes twinged. The stitches in her legs made them achey and stiff, and no painkillers had made the entire ordeal positively wonderful but despite herself, once she had cared for Sturnuth she simply could not sleep. And such, as she always would have done before, she began to sew. They'd given her a horridly simple and poorly made selection of sunny yellow clothes, and after a few hours she made them fabulous. The blouse, though simple and yellow, now fit her figure perfectly, and the simple ankle length skirt was now knee length, and with a few strategic darts she had a wonderful little A-line skirt. The pants had pulled at her stitches, but the skirt was far from constricting and hid the bandages wonderfully. If she had needed to actually move in, she never would have had the time, but with all she had--just her possessions from admittance as her parents refused to send anything else.
You look beautiful, Mine.
Sturnuth lounged atop Marue's bed, near purring with happiness as her eyes sparkled blue and purple. Marue held the simple chord around her neck, tracing it to its simple silver pendant.
The pendant.. It is important?
Marue smiled, a sadness sparkling in her eyes. "It was old Glayglay's."
Sturnuth nodded. She'd spotted the old woman in her rider's mind. The wonderful and kind old woman. She had quite the backbone, too. Maybe that was where Marue got it. The yellow dropped her thoughts and lifted her head, alert, before rolling off the bed entirely to prance toward the door. Oh yeah! Cyanath's calling for a party!
Marue's eyes lit up. Clean, nice enough clothes. No more stinky cell. No more stinky cell mates. The DragonWatch was here to keep M'onk in line, and an amazing dragon at her side, and now a party? Life was looking up, and that was the understatement of the year. "Well let's get going then! Where is it?"
Sturnuth could feel her rider's excitement, and as it was she could barely contain her own. We're on our way little brother.

...Where are we headed again?

----
The blue brother chuckled as the first of his siblings responded, and crooned back. He'd gotten the same question twice, so he might as well answer it for all of them. Awesome! Come join us in Rok'na's weyr! Third one on the right.
Cyanath wiggled with excitement. They're coming, Mine! Rok'na smiled. At least Cyanath was happy. If nothing else that'd make the night worth it, and as much as he didn't want ot admit it, the prospect of getting to know the others wasn't a bad one. The young man poured himself a cup of hot water, and gently dropped in a teabag. Tonight should be fun. Right?

Lin, Mine, there is a party going on, and we must be in attendance.

Lin rolled over in her bunk and rubbed her eyes. She'd been out like a light since they made it to their beds, and thought Brantath was too. In fact she was certain of it. When they got to the barrack, he was barely able to keep his eyes open. Now his pretty, swirling blues eyes were wide open, and barely an inch from her face. Lin laughed, putting her hand on his nose to push him away so she could sit up. "What?" she asked, still rubbing a fist into her eyes and trying to blink away the sleep.

A party! A party, Mine! We MUST go! What will my siblings think if we're not there? I want to get to meet them, properly this time. The hatching was a terrible, horrible thing that brought out the worst in all of them. He wanted to get to know them all properly, when there was nothing to threaten or frighten or anger them.

Lin sat up in bed (no, that's fine, she wasn't tired anyway...) It was hard to argue with that. "Um, you think it's okay for us to go?" she asked.
Brantath's head recoiled in an exaggerated motion of surprise. Why should it not be?! he demanded to know. Again, Lin chuckled quietly. Although she found it cute, Brantath seemed to have absolutely no conception of where they were or what she was doing here. At some point, she would need to explain things to him properly..

For now, Lin ran a hand through her fuzzy short hair, considering it. They hadn't been expressly forbidden from wandering around at night, but she assumed it was implied. Still, its not like they were even leaving the barracks, and it would be nice to get to know her fellow weyrlings. "Alright, let's go!" she decided, throwing off the bed covers. "But give me a second to get changed..."

...Actually, nevermind. This is a terrible idea. the young prisoner thought, not more than five minutes later, when she was timidly following Brantath into Rok'ana's weyr. She pulled at the yellow sleeve of her prison uniform, nervously. She clung close to the side of her big brown as she peeked around the corner, hiding behind him as much as possible. Right, because that's going to make them not see the bright yellow jumpsuit you're wearing. she thought to herself bitterly. Fortunately, they seemed to be the first ones here.

Stepping through the doorway nervously, Lin smiled and tried to seem like she was completely at ease here, not aware of her own differences at all. Fortunately, Brantath made it easy, as he did enough mingling for the both of them. Splendid idea, Cyanath! he said, praising their host vigorously. "Uh.. hi. Hope we're not.. intruding." Lin said. "Brantath insisted we come."

Brantath! The blue immediately leapt to his brother, hopping before him as he looked him over better. He was definitely bigger, delightfully brown. He craned his s-curved neck to lift hislarge head to see his brother's bonded. Oh a girl! Oh, yours is pretty, brother! Tell me, what is she like? The blue watched his brother with a sort of glee, happy to finally get to meet his clutchmates. He preened, eyes swirling with bright happy blues, and deeper, purple contentment.

Rok'na made his way over a slower pace than his hatchling. As Cyanath enthusiastically greeted the brown, he walked over to the girl. Yellow, so a prisoner. He honestly wasn't sure if he'd ever met her before, but he supposed it hardly mattered. Most people had new names, whole new pieces added to their identities. He smiled plesantly. "No intrusion at all." He made his way over to pour another cup of hot water. "Cyanath caught wind of hatching feasts and wouldn't take no for an answer." He looked over the teas before plucking one and adding it to the hot water. "Good Idea, I'd like to think. Lets just hope certain ears don't catch wind of it, hm?" He righted himself after adding just a touch of sugar. He stirred the tea before handing it out to Lin. "I'm going to guess you could use a cup of rosebud and chamomile." He offered the cup, half intending to drink it should she refuse.

Saain relaxed in her room with Serinuth in her lap and just basked in the luxury of privacy. It was funny that she never considered how much she really missed it the simple freedom of being alone till it was gone. No more sharing and being watched all times of the day. She wallowed in the simplicity of being alone... not she would ever be alone with Serinuth curled in her mind.

She stroked over Serinuth subtly glowing hide, lingering over the spread out wings, playing over the webbing and covered frail looking bone ribs. She had been concern for the green, her odd hopping gait and crumpled wings had pulled on her knowledge and heart strings. Saain stroked over her dozing dragon's head, rubbing over the knobs. Saain couldn't be one hundred percent positive but she could be ninety five point nine that Serinuth just needed exercise and stretching to work her wings to mend. Her beautiful, darling Serinuth was eye catching colorful and Saain would be with her every step of the way.

Serinuth crooned, wings twitching under her riders gentle touch as she dozed on Saain lap, exhausted after the events of the day. She flexed her front legs, slipping back under in the blissful call of sleep before Cyanath message reached her. A party? She felt so tired but she didn't want to disappoint her brother. He likely worked very hard with his rider to set it all up. Serinuth squirmed, wings and fore paw shifting in indecision. She broached quietly unsure.

A party? Saain rubbed behind one of the green's head knobs in thought. "Do you wish to go Serinuth?" She asked the green softly. It would give them a change to mingle and focus on learning about each other without the weight of grief and anger causing them to do stupid things. Saain believed that they had been right, that a protest should have happen. Just not in the complete utter chaotic cluster mess that had happen on the sands.

She fluttered, shifting and finally clambered down from Saain lap to the floor, giving a small dance of uncertainly. Serinuth chirped, eyes swirling yellow, wings giving little twitches.

"How about we go, just to show and maybe stay for a candle mark and then beg of," Saain soothed, leaning down to hug the little green, sending warm loving pulses. "We don't have to stay long, Serinuth."

Serinuth started, fluttering and nervous. She shifted from foot to foot, unsure.

Meera and Pavoth

Meera should have known better than to assume that Warden's would be able to be in charge of itself forever. Apparently the DragonWatch felt the same, as it had swooped in. “I hope they're finally investigating the 'mysterious disappearance of T'di, which M'onk certainly has no involvement in',” she griped, pulling her tunic on. FINALLY. Those robes were just terrible. What, were they specifically designed to itch in all the wrong places or what?

Pavoth gurgled at Lucky, having once again challenged the lamb. Her flared his wings. He was bigger than Lucky, even if the lamb was no longer the tiny handful he'd once been. And Pavoth had sharp teeth. He bared them now, trying to get some sort of a reaction from the lamb.

Well, he got one.

Namely, he got a headbutt. “MEH!” said Lucky, shaking his head. He didn't understand why Pavoth wouldn't just accept his awesome. But it was rather fun to actually have someone to play with.

The hatchling darted out of the way and chattered, wings fluttering. This was actually kind of fun! He knew he made the right choice on the Sands! He stood stock-still as his brother's voice entered his mind. Pavoth and Meera will be there! And also Lucky, please no one eat him because he would be bad for the digestive system, he said, not bothering to check with Meera.

“Wait, where are we going?”

To a party! There will be dancing! Lookit my dance! The blue fluttered his wings up and shuffled from side to side.

And that was how Meera ended up at the party, accompanied by a dragon (by some miracle, Lucky had been convinced to stay behind, mostly because, while she trusted Pavoth, Meera did not trust the rest not to eat him). How could she deny the awesomeness of his dance? Look, I brought mine! he bugled to the other dragons. He trotted over to his brothers and circled them, still clicking and clacking all the while.

~.~

Leevi and Lasoth

Leevi had an even easier time of being convinced to go to the party. All Lasoth had to do was look at him with big eyes and go, Um? Leevi? There's a party. Can we go?

They had a lot to celebrate, after all. Lasoth's child-like belief in the power of friendship and teamwork had been confirmed, Leevi Impressed, and... and... well, there was a lot to celebrate. Besides, it was definitely worth trying to get to know the other weyrlings, now that they'd all be in class together.

Now if only either Leevi or Lasoth had social skills.

But you talk to people all the time, Lasoth said, anxiously watching all the people in the room with whirling eyes.

“Well... yeah, but that's different...” Leevi said, keeping his voice low. That was just being a mindhealer. It wasn't actually being social with people.

Malta had gotten the message, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to go to a... a party or gathering... So many people.
She wasn't as terrified now as she had been at the touching, but she wasn't used to having such a pillar of strength and confidence in her mind.
She was sad to move to her new quarters, especially since Ralvyn wasn't there yet. She wanted to stay near him, make sure he was all right. Well, of course he would be, but she wanted to keep him company...
She supposed he had his dragon for that...
She was a scardey cat, okay?

Poecileth replied to Cyanath

"Yes, I mean... I mean, Leevi is nice and..." she stammered out loud.

Said Poecileth, kindly,

Poecileth pushed Hers out the door,
Malta didn't resist, and Poecileth smiled with pride.

---

Malta entered shyly, Poecileth by her side, holding her up and nudging her along.
Poecileth sent warmly to her siblings,

"H...hello..." Malta squeaked, blushing. S... so many... people...

Poecileth sent her a pulse of confidence and pride and love. She was doing great! She looked around.
Oh!
Where was Lasoth?

<Lasoth, Love, are you here?> she called to her sister.

Hiemal could not remember the last time he had been to a party. Perhaps it had been the celebration for the group of them who had walked the tables to Journeyman. If so that was eleven turns ago. Hiemal was actually rather sorry to break the streak, he was far from the most sociable of men but Haliath wanted to see her siblings and so he went.

He was not in his cell as he ought to be at this time, and he was dressed yellow rather than his red jumpsuit. These were good things and yet... strange. His routine was shaken and he felt out of place, everything felt out of place... everything save the connection in his mind. He smiled down at Halith with the tiniest upturn of the corners of his mouth and she smiled back with sparkling blue eyes.

Hiemal stopped outside the door, tugged his cuffs straight, knocked, and entered. "Good evening," he said politely to the strangers, "congratulations to all of you."

Haliath exclaimed with genuine pleasure as she entered. she added with a bob of her head, There had been other things on her mind, unfortunately.

Hiemal turned to the rider of the dragon his own bondmate was addressing. Ice blue eyes fixed on Malta, just as chilly in expression as their colour would suggest. "My dragon appears fond of yours," he observed with impeccable politeness and continued eye-contact that was just a bit too intense. "I find it fascinating that they hatch with fully formed personalities and already knowing their siblings. Do you? My name is Hiemal, former prisoner as I am sure you can tell by the yellow. You are?"

Luka

Why had she even considered not being a dragonrider? This was by far, the best thing to have happened to her in her short life. After four turns of wearing red jumpsuits and living in a cell, having private bed, and wearing actual clothes was the highest form of luxury she could think of. Add to that Lophorinth and in all honesty, her life could not get much better than it was that day.

She certainly got over tragedy quickly when it didn't affect her. She was more upset at the restrictions on all the fun things life had to offer. It was the only thing that kept her current situation from being perfect.

Luka squirmed in her bed, absolutely ecstatic to feel the softness of the sheets, and the way her new clothes fit and moved on her body. It was sinful how happy she was in that moment. She didn't care that she was still stuck wearing just one color, and this one more garish than the last. Loph loved the color and he looked good next to her, his dark blues contrasting beautifully with her new wardrobe. She giggled and dove under the blankets where said blue had snuggled in as well.

Heeeeeeey Loph crooned excitedly, rubbing noses with Luka. You up for a party? Cyanath's is having everyone over in their weyr.

A party? But they weren't allowed to drink? Not that that was going to stop Luka. She hadn't been to a party since the last time she was with... well best not to think about him. She had Loph now and there was no way He'd ever leave her for anyone else. "Tell him we're coming!" That and Loph wouldn't let her avoid a party even if she'd for some unknown reason wanted to. There'd be ladies there (there had better be ladies there) and Loph had to strut his stuff!

The blanket was thrown off the both of them and as Loph pranced about the middle of the room, already grooving in his excitement, Luka bent to the small mirror she'd been granted as part of the room. "Ugh my face is a mess." Not to mention her short cropped hair. "Next time you hatch don't do it first thing in the morning.

Loph stopped, tilted his head, and replied quite seriously. I don't think I can hatch again... can I?

Luka snorted. "Well how should I know? I don't know jack about dragons except that you're by far the best one out there!"

......................

It only took them a couple minutes to walk to Rok'na's weyr yet already there were people there. Luka smiled confidently, she knew a few of the prisoners and guards by sight, Saain she was acquainted with in particular and the older woman got a happy wave. First duties of course were to the host and with a little help from Loph she found the right person. "Rok'na! Thank you for putting this together in such short time!" No yellow, so he must have been one of the guards or crafters allowed to Stand as well. No matter, they were all on the same level now, and she had to admit he wasn't bad to look at. Not bad at all really. She was almost jealous at how well groomed he was actually.

Loph bounded in and landed on all four legs, wings spread and bugled to announce his arrival. The PARTY is here! Ladies, one at a time please~ He side stepped and pranced his way further into the room, spreading greetings all around as if he was the one they were all here to see. Cyanath! Thanks for the invite! Serinuth What's a pretty little thing like you doing here? Irath! Pavoth! Great to see you! Lasoth! Hey buuuddy! Haliath, Sturnuth AND Poecileth?! Wow All the gorgeous ladies are here tonight~ Brantath My man!

Zareen was relieved once the hatchling was over. It had been fairly hectic and crazy, and then, to top it off, there were now strangers in the weyr. Ones that she wasn't sure the purpose of, since they didn't appear to be here to be guards for the prison.

They'd likely find out though, later, once things had settled down.

She was thankful that she had graduated to having her own weyr not that long ago, as she knew that otherwise she would have ended up being woken up several times as the new little ones woke and fussed. Still, she was curious about them, about their riders really, and about who had ended up in her old area.

Why not go find out? the brown suggested, his tail twitching.

Why not indeed.

She made her way over to the weyrling barracks, expecting to find the majority of the new weyrlings asleep or just bonding with their partners. No. Instead, she discovered a whole group of them wide awake, and having what looked like a party. Well, look at that.

The senior weyrling slipped into the room, observing the small hatchlings as they mingled. They were awfully cute, and far closer to each other than Zyxth's clutch had been. Hopefully they'd stay like that.

She felt, for a just a moment that she was intruding, and made her way over toward Rokana. She knew him, and maybe he'd know just whos gathering this was. She didn't want to stay somewhere where she wasn't invited, but she did want to get to know these people better.

"Congratulations on impressing." She said to him, smiling brightly.

Ooh, ooh. Serinuth flushed in her mind and chirped slightly in surprise at Loph greeting. She said swiftly, just arriving a bit before Luka and Loph. There was so many siblings to speak to and greet and ooh, dear. She said softly, rustling her wings uneasily.

Saain smiled at Luka, giving her a wave as she slowly made her way towards Rok'na was it, to thank him. She was going slow to make sure Serinuth kept up and made sure the green had plenty of space around her.
-----
Joscelin drifted towards the tea set up when he entered, looking over the selection. He did have a weakness for tea and the selection was surprisingly vast and good. Joscelin asked as he flicked through the bags.

Irath question, leaving his rider's side to greet his siblings. The grey bounced about cheerfully weaving and brushing against all he could as he explored. So many of his siblings and so many new people! Irath chittered in glee.

Poecileth sent warm feelings and touched noses to Haliath.
she leaned against Malta lovingly, She looked around the room and visibly relaxed. This. This was good.

Malta blanched a little at Hiemal's gaze, flushing and shrinking back nervously.
Poecileth whispered, mentally leaning on her,
Comfort. Support. Confidence.
With some effort, Malta straightened up, her hand on her dragon's back.
"Malta. My... My name is Malta..."
encouraged her dragon gently,
"I am... was... an apprentice healer..." She swallowed.
Poe sent over a feeling of burgeoning pride and love. Oh Malta.
"And... uh..." those eyes did bother her, but Malta struggled, maintaining eye contact like it was polite to do, "y-yes. It's... Its facinating but... But they did sit next to each other. As eggs. So maybe thats why?" Aaaaaah she was babbling!

Malta felt a twinned pride and even smiled.

Poecileth spared a laugh for Loph
she said to him with a happy-yet-protective tone. He was energetic, but in a good way. Very important. And she loved him.

Malta fidgeted and blushed deeper. the thought had been shared with her as well.

Inside, definitely.

Haliath? I have... an important question to ask. The Warden... Mikhaith's... said to our loud yellow sister that speaking to the mind of a bonded was very rude... Enough to threaten her death! I was wondering what you thought of that...> It did bother Poecileth, greatly.

"Uh.. sure. Thanks." Lin said, forcing a smile. Honestly, she didn't know what 'rosebud and chamomile' was, but she didn't want him knowing that, so she took the cup and lifted it to her nose when he wasn't looking. Smelled alright, so she took a sip. Mmm! Not bad!

Brantath purred at Cynath's compliment. Brantath said, beaming delightedly. As to his question, he said, pleased His was being noticed, as she should be. Lin, on the other hand, had different feelings about being noticed, namely that she didn't want to be. She wanted enough of a crowd to build so that she could slip into the backround. Unfortunately, with Brantath beside her that was difficult. He was as sociable as he was

And now, he was distracted by a new sibling, one he hadn't met before. He on over to Serinuth and looked her up and down, evaluating her. How could be impress her? She seemed shy, so he would be gentle. he said, warmly, lowering his nose to her. he greeted her gently, before a friendly voice distracted him. He lifted his head, going from 0 to 60 on the energy meter in all of 3 seconds. he bugled in greeting. And here was another, his favourite smallest brother. he said, excited to see the little grey brother he’d met at the hatching. he asked him.

With Brantath well distracted, Lin looked around for a group of people she could talk to. She found she was more comfortable around the prisoners. Well, some of the prisoners, she thought, glancing at Hiemal. He just creeped her out. She looked at Luka and smiled, trying to start with a benign statement, as she did, that was difficult to disagree with. "How about these new rooms they're giving us? I don't think I've slept that well in months."
