With the disappearance of T’di and Mordanth, the death of Kaelyandra and Brakiheth, and as the arrival of Ai and Zamanateth, the Dragon Watch has become...understandably concerned about conditions at Warden’s Weyr. The new colors and the deliberate death of both a hatchling and a dragonless man on the Sands have really not helped things along, either. The Watch is not questioning M’onk, of course, but...every now and then you send someone from headquarters to check out the conditions at the prison.

The higher-ranking riders can think of it as an audit, if they’d like.

Officially, Watchriders are an honor guard for Ai. Unofficially (and likely officially, after J’car hears word back from T’aku), they are here to find out what the shards has been going on in this institution. Missing weyrleader, dead queen, and weird-colored babies. It’s the job of the Watchriders to track down the evidence, synthesize it, and put it all together. By the end of the day of their arrival, they will have been instructed to make themselves comfortable (M’onk is expected to provide them with acceptable quarters) and begin speaking to the denizens of the Weyr. Of particular interest are the odd colors, the prisoner weyrlings, and the adults present during the Hatching.

Inquiring minds want to know what goes on at the prison while the rest of the world moves onward.

Now what that means for you OOCly:

• Yes! This is the start of another event! This one will last a while - at least a month, if not more - and will be open to every player, new and old, adult, hatchling, weyrling, wher, and nonrider alike.
  
• You have two ways to get involved, and can chose either or both, depending on what you want to do. First, you can interview with a member of the Watch, and get your character’s voice heard by the higher-ups. The Watch will be making a point, in particular, to interview the new weyrlings and anyone present at the Hatching.
  
• Second, you can play a member of the Watch. Ai was accompanied by an entire wing of dragons as an honor guard, in colors ranging from green to bronze. These Watchmen (and women) do not have to be strict traditionalists. Their opinions on the new dragons and the condition at Warden’s can range from approving to completely horrified - it’s up to you. People playing Watchriders will have a unique opportunity to win their character as a custom (see below).
  
• Please bear in mind that should you choose to play a Watchrider, you will be expected to make your character available for interviews, should anyone ask.
  

Winning a Custom Watchrider: Though it is currently known only to M’onk, six of the Watchriders sent with Ai will be remaining with her as permanent watchmen at Warden’s. Yes, that means that you have a chance to get your watchrider turned into a permanent custom. In order to be considered for the custom contest, you will need to:

• Fill out a complete character form. You don’t need to fill out the whole profile to start RPing - just fill out the form below - but if your character doesn’t have a full, approved profile up by the end of the event, you won’t be elligible for customs.
  
• Roleplay. Obviously. We aren’t going to give a custom to people who weren’t active with their characters - we want to see your dragon played, and we want to see you getting involved and doing your part to move the shop forward. This event has the potential to have major IC consequences enacted by players, so the more active you are, the more likely you are to get the ball rolling!
  
• Contribute: The more you contribute - not just roleplay, but actually contribute - to the plot, the more likely you are to catch the staff’s attention and earn a permanent position. This isn’t to say that only people actively “joining the revolution” are going to be considered. A rider who takes steps to assist M’onk in regaining control of the Weyr is going to be just as interesting to the staff as a rider who takes steps to change the Weyr - and both are going to be significantly more interesting than a rider who sits back and watches the drama unfold around them. So don’t be afraid to take risks and create conflict.
