Appearance: Standing at 5'4, Zareen leans towards the slender side of things. She is fairly delicate looking, with small and dainty features, and even with the muscles she has gained from her guard training, she isn't very intimidating.

Her hair is black, and reaches the middle of his back. She never wears it loose, preferring to keep it tied back in a braid. She has blue grey eyes.

She has no scars of note, and she keeps her nails cut down short. She tends to dress in clothes that are plain, comfortable, and practical, and most of her wardrobe tends to be in shades of blue and greys.

Personality: A quiet introvert, Zareen prefers to watch and listen to people talk rather than engage in much conversation, although she will put in her two marks' worth when asked. She tries to stay relatively unnoticed, something that is made much easier by staying out of the limelight.

However, she can't stay unnoticed all of the time, and it's just as likely for her to be caught or dragged into something as it is for her to remain on the outside. She doesn't really mind though, and will either grin sheepishly at being caught, or join in whatever is going on until she can continue on with her observing.

She is curious about anything and everything, which is one reason why she watches so much. She wants to know what's going on, who was involved, and how people reacted to it. However, she isn't a gossip, and if she knows something, well, good luck getting it out of her. That's not to say that she won't share what she knows, just that she won't give the knowledge out for free. She is more than willing to accept a bribe, especially if someone is willing to trade information or teach her something she doesn't know.

She enjoys learning things, and has a wide skill base, though she's not really good at anything outside of observing. She makes up for her lack of talent by being a hard worker, doing her best at whatever it is she's doing.

She has the potential to be a good leader, if someone were to put her in a position where she needed to be one, but on her own, she's just a follower. She is good at taking orders, and does not argue when they are given, even if she doesn't agree with them. Especially since coming to the Weyr. She knows that it is better in a situation to act first, and question later.

History: Zareen had been a surprise to her parents, coming nine turns after her older sister. They had been trying, but after so many turns of not having another child, had given up, and had fostered a couple instead.

She was a welcome addition to the family, their surprise gift, and she was raised happily, if a bit overly protected, even more so when her foster brother got into dust and overdosed, and it was almost her way of rebelling when she approached the guard captain of the hold and asked to apprentice as a guard.

He liked her initiative, and allowed her to join, sponsoring her himself. She was about average skilled, but she was good at intelligence gathering. She wasn't able to move up to a high rank though, being a woman, and while she was alright with that, the captain wasn't. He had her transferred to the Weyr, in the hopes that her skills would be able to shine in a not so traditional setting.

When the eggs were donated, she stood, being in the right age group, and to her surprise, impressed to a little brown. She hadn't ever thought about standing for a dragon, or even a wher, but she knew that being impressed to Zyxth just felt right.
