A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

PostPosted: Mon Mar 11, 2013 7:25 pm

It had started raining during the night, but it was not that big of a problem. The tree shielded his son from it, for the most part, and his wings blocked the rest of it nicely. The sun was rising, slowly but surely, and Isidore would probably awaken soon, though as far as Ankou was concerned, his son would sleep as long as he needed, or wished.

Odd that staying put came easily in this case... Well, his body stayed put, but his mind was wandering. Tasks, solutions... There was always something to think about.

Isi had slept rather comfortably next to his father all night. It wasn't often he got to do that. He knew his dad did not sleep and he knew he wasn't home a lot in the evenings. He had an important job to do. Too important for sleep it seemed.

Isi was just a little god though and he got worn out quickly. As he woke he became aware of the sound of the rain in the tree and looked up to see his father's large wings stretched over him.
"Morning." He smiled, stretching like a cat for a moment before sitting up. "It's raining."

"Just a little bit." Not enough to truly bother him, honestly - and a little rain was a good thing, after all. He would shake the water out of his feathers later, when he bothered to get up. For now, he was still acting as his son's over-sized, glowly umbrella. "Do you still have some cookies hidden for breakfast ? I will not tell your mother, if you do." He winked.

If his son's foresight had not carried this far ahead, then there were solutions to that particular problem.

Isi looked up at his dad and shook his head.
"I ate it. I only had one." He said, wishing he had managed to get another from the jar. Cookies for breakfast sounded like the most fun ever.
"I'm hungry though." he added as his stomach growled.

Not quite that well prepared, then. The thought made him chuckle as he finally stood, lowing his wings to that the water could drip. Right now it was light little droplets, but it had not been the case the whole night. Not a storm, but quite the downpour indeed.

He lowered one branch of the tree carefully - it was loaded with little orange fruits. He knew they were edible because he'd seen people picking from it. "Well, there you go ?"

Isidore pushed himself to his feet and brushed the grass off the seat of his trousers. He watched his father reach for the branch and bring it down to him. It must be amazing to be so tall, he thought to himself and reached out to pick the orange fruit, he picked another and put it in his bag for later ... just incase.
"Thank you." He said and took a bite of the sweet fruit. "Mmm."

"Tastes good ?" He had not tried them himself, but had seen the elves and human use them much like they would have strawberries, so he figured the taste was probably similar - or that they'd be sweet, at the very least.

"The elves make some sort of cake out of this..." Perhaps they could sneak away with some, perhaps not.

Cake, Isidore quite liked the sound of these Elf people. They had yummy fruit and cake, that was all quite exciting.
"Yeah, good." He didn't offer his father one, he knew he didn't really eat, only to humour them when they offered him food. "Are we going to see the Elves?"

"Well, that could be an idea..." Ankou looked up to the sky - it was bright and clear, without so much of a cloud hanging in it. There was something in the distance, but...

They still had a little way to go. "But we have to find them first, do we not ?"

"Oh, yeah." Isi thought about that. "You don't know where they are?" He asked, looking up at the clear blue skies. He thought that his dad knew everything. "Are they far away?"

Isidore's question amused the Spirit Guide. Oh, if only he knew everything ! That would be quite handy... But no, he was no Knowledge, to have the wisdom of the worlds as his beck and all.

"Their city is an island in the sky, remember ?" He ran an hands though his son's hair, carefully straightening it. "The winds carry it across this whole area... Or perhaps it would be better for me to say that Elfeieim was rude enough not to stay where I left it ?" As long as it amused Isidore, he did not mind.

"Oh yeah." Isi smiled, looking up at his father as his hair was played with. He blew, sticking out his lower lip to get it out of his eyes. "So, can they control where they go?" It seemed a bit annoying to be moving everywhere if you didn't want to.

"They likely have some control over it." The floating city never left elven lands, after all. He knew that there was some sort of teleporter that would take them up to Elfeineim no matter how far it happened to be, and that it was nearby at that... But flying would likely be more interesting. That, and he hoped to give Isidore a good view of it.

Before that, though... It would likely be a good idea to send off what souls they had already gathered, less their presence be felt. The spirits were still nearby - some had wandered further away than others, but they were all easily called back to him.

He would raise one wing to cover Isidore again as they took off together. There was a soul path nearby, but now Ankou was wondering how he could involve his son in the process... Ah, yes, that would do nicely. "Before that, though, there is something we need to do."

A flying city that could be controlled? Now that was something that had to be seen. Why couldn't they live somewhere interesting like that? Clearly a home of doors that led to worlds and a library of infinate possibilities was interesting, but when it was your home it was hardly exotic.
"Oh?" he asked as they travelled off together again. "What do we need to do now?" He enquired.

"We need to send these souls down to rest." Having them tag along would be, well.. potentially hazardous, for one, in the numbers they had along with them now. There were enough that mortals might be able to perceive them. "Before they can be reborn, they need some rest." Not always true, but a good general rule of tumb. Children generally could be sent to Rebirth immediately. It mostly depended on how they died, how much trauma remained. Violent deaths took longer to settle.

If they did settle at all.

"Just kind of like taking a nap ?" He stopped, having found what he was looking for - the soul path. "I just need you to make sure they all make it though alright for me." There was certainly no real need, but he figured that giving his son a 'job' would keep the boy more interested.
