Malo had never float-flew so fast in his life. User Image

He had not come out of that dream calmly. He had burst from the water, head throbbing, almost sobbing, as he dragged himself to the shore and grabbed his things. He had no time to say goodbye to Tobias or even Zale, he HAD to know. He had to know if it was just a sickening vision or if he had really sucked her life out. It had been so real.

The dream kept playing back to him. He was not in his own skin, and yet he could feel everything. His mind told him that was the Queen's taste and he could still feel it on his living mouth as he panted, shoving the tops of trees out of his way and letting his hat flap around in his hand, the flame on his chest burning so brightly he may have passed for a slow comet.

Finally, he came to the grand castle. If it was urgency, will power, or both, he had no need to stop and open the door. He phased through it, an attempt he would master better as an adult. He had no time to congratulate himself and doubted he could will it again as he finally landed on solid ground. One may think the whole floating thing is an effortless gimmick, but it takes as much energy as walking or running. Its really the height that causes faster travel and the lack of need for roadways. But Malo may as well have run home from how hard he was panting, almost collapsing to his knees, heart thundering in his chest.

He hobbled to his feet, righting his hat in a flourish and staggering down the hallway, still panting, fearing he may have overdone that flying. He kept one eye on his hand to make sure it wasn't going to fade, signifying his need for food.

He finally managed to get to the entrance hall, his sharp yellow eyes searching for a guard. He'd have barged through ranks of guards to make sure she was safe at this point, but logic demanded something more clever.

"I need to speak to her highness, right away." He panted, pus forming in the corner of his eyes. He could have told the truth but that'd sound utterly stupid and he needed to be sure for himself to settle the lump in his stomach. What would he have said, anyway? 'Yeah, I think I killed her?' He took one large gulp and sighed a puff of purple fire. "I come with...news from Diamonds." It wasn't a lie, not really. "I have just been to the pool of tears and must relay to her what I discovered."
