"I'm a little tea-pot short and stout, brains brains nachos number forty five!"
Seth was in an odd, sing-song mood this morning. He had woken with a smile, made breakfast without much of a mishap and watched his son wrestle with his granddaughter over a bag of potato chips without wanting to jump in to cause more chaos. Was he tired? Was he sick? Did he decide that being crazy was no long appropriate? No. Of course not. None of those things would ever happen to the "unstoppable Sethers!" But, what was making him so darn calm and agreeable?
"Shay-Shaaaay! Do you still want me to bring you that mint gel for your headache?" He called out. Red eyes flickered with concern as a mild groan of a response came floating down the hall. Shayden hadn't been feeling well all week! Nothing was ever fun when Shayden was sick! He took the tray of crackers, seltzer and mint gel he had been preparing and padded quickly down the hall. "Poor baby..." He muttered, nuzzling his sick partner. "Don't you worry about a thing, I can handle things around here. You just rest."

Shayden moaned as he lay in bed, a damp washcloth covering his eyes. His stomach was killing him! What could be causing his body to delve into such pain? He fidgeted slightly as Seth nuzzled him and heaved a sigh of relief as the mint gel was rubbed onto his forehead and chest. "Aaaah, that feels nice..." He murmured, wiggling under the covers again. The gel had a sweet smell to it that eased his nausea and it cooled his body, making it easier to sleep. As he simmered back into a lull, he nosed Seth's paw and whined.
"Stay with me..." He pleaded. "I want you to cuddle me..."

Seth couldn't help but bite his lip as he tended to his lover's needs. It was so difficult to see Shayden like this with no real explanation for why, all he could do is make him comfortable and hope that the illness passes quickly. He screwed the cap back on the jar of mint gel and smiled as he was nosed. "Of course, of course." He replied, crawling into the bed. He wriggled up next to Shayden and began to gently massage his back, leaning his head on his shoulder as he did so. "I will cuddle the sickness out of you, my poor little Shay-Shay..."

Shayden nuzzled himself into Seth's arms and rolled over to place his head on the other's chest. The washcloth fell off of his eyes and wedged itself between the two noodles, but neither seemed to mind it. Cyan eyes were half closed and hazy with tears. He sniffled and whined, kissing Seth on the forehead before simply melting into his lover's embrace. "You are the best damn living thing that has ever come into my life!" He exclaimed, a bought of feverish chills breaking through the calm. "I hope you know that Seth... Lord, I hope you know that!"

"Shay! Shay, calm down!" Seth squealed, tears streaming down his face. Why was he shaking? Was this a seizure? Was he dying?! AAAAAH! He tore the covers off of Shayden's body and scooped him on to his back before dashing out towards the front door. "Don't worry Shay! You just need a doctor! They can fix you!" He cried.

Almost two hours later, Seth sat in the hospital room with Shayden. His fur was ragged, his eyes were red, but all the while he hummed a tune to keep the other as calm as possible. He had forgotten that Shayden had a phobia of hospitals, but what else was he supposed to do? For all he knew, those shakes could have meant death! He nuzzled his lover's paw and tried to avoid hitting the I.V. wires hooked up to his arm as he adjusted the bed. The silence in the room was as thick as a vat of pudding. Shayden wasn't moving anymore, but the heart monitor told him that he was still alive, so his hopes were up.
"Come on, Shaaay..." He whispered, placing a few soft kisses on Shayden's cheek. "Wake up for meeee...."

A dark gray nose twitched, and a pair of cyan eyes opened, both flying open wide with fear soon after. "Neeeeeeee!" Shayden whined, clinging to Seth. "Wha-Why-Eh-NEEEEE!?" He wiggled around for a few minutes before it all began to click. He had nearly died back at home, and Seth had just saved his life. His heart skipped beats and tears welled up in his eyes. "Sethers... You... You saved me!" He flung himself into Seth's arms, knocking over several machines in the process. "Oops... Those were important, weren't they?"

"WELL. I have no idea what they were doing. So. They probably were." Seth cackled, nuzzling Shayden. He "assailed" him with kisses again until the nurses came in and gave them Shayden's discharge papers. He was to rest as much as humanly possible, drink lots of water and be given all the cuddles. That sounded more than manageable! The pair left the hospital and headed for home with their tails intertwined.

"Shay-Shaaaay? Would you like me to make you some waaaffflllleeessss?" Seth called the next morning. Again, there was a low, mild groan in response and his ears flopped. Panicked, Seth ran into the bedroom to find Shayden laying in bed as he had left him, but with a smug look on his face. "Oooo... I know that face!" He exclaimed, waltzing over to Shayden. "That's your plotting face! What do you have to share, Shaaaaay?"

Shayden snickered from beneath the covers. His eyebrows wiggled upwards and he leaned over towards Seth. "Shhh, I don't want anyone else to hear..." He whispered, tugging Seth down onto the bed and pinning him. "I hope you're comfortable, because I'm not going to let my hero go without a fight..." Without another sound he kissed his lover and covered them both with the sheet.

It was mid-afternoon when Shayden woke. He blushed and smiled at the beautiful sleeping face nuzzled up against him before kissing the other on the forehead. Minutes later, however, Seth had sprung up from the bed and hustled into the bathroom, throwing up promptly after. Shayden sat with him all the while and placed him back in the bed with a nuzzle. "I knew you'd catch the bug, too." He chuckled. "But don't worry. I'm prepared. You just lay here and I'll take care of everything. Just like you did for me."
