 Having a new home in Laisidhiel had been wearing on Rainbow Dash, it wasn't that the tree was a horrible place, it was just hard to live under the dense roof, not being able to see the sky. She didn't really feel comfortable flying inside the tree either, she felt like some of the fauns gave her weird looks when she tried. Normally, Rainbow wasn't the type to care about things like that, she had enough self-confidence that she didn't need affirmation from others. Still, she was getting cabin fever. Rainbow Dash began to cross the bridge from the tree to the main land, she wasn't sure where exactly she was going since she hadn't been on the mainland except for the trek from one side of the island to the tree. Rainbow figured any place outside the tree would be a good place for her to stretch her wings.

 Lightning Dust sighed. She floated lazily around the tree, only slightly off the ground as the strange looks and comments she was getting was starting to irritate her. How she wanted to just zoom up to the very top and just not give a hay. But somehow she didn't. Seeing the other pegasus doing their best to hang around on the ground, she -most unwillingly- decided to do the same
However a certain rainbow maned pegasus caught her attention as she drifted outside the tree. Lightning smirked, spreading her wings and zipping over to catch Rainbow Dash before she disappeared completely, zooming over the top of a random faun's head, leaving a faint glimmering lightning trail and causing them some minor panic.
"Heeeey, Rainbow Dash! Where you off too? Man, its so cramped in this tree my wings are killing me" she groaned, flexing her wings more freely and working her shoulders once she was outside the tree. "Hey Dash, wanna go for a quick fly around the tree? Ya know, stretch the ol' wings a bit. Maybe we can make a race out of it." she grinned, hoping the other need for speed demon was up to it.

Rainbow Dash' hair flew forward as something whizzed past her head, her mane promptly turned into an afro. The mare frowned as she quickly flattened it... hey, she knew that speed trail. It had been awhile since she had seen one, but there was really only faunie other then her who was fast enough to have one, Lightning Dust. Rainbow quickly cheered up. "Oh hey, Lightning Dust! I don't know, I just had to get out of there." she answered the other. "I think I'm homesick..." her head dropped.
Rainbow stretched out her wings to their full span, "Man, that feels so good. Yeah we can do a fly around, but we really shouldn't call it a race because we already know who will win that one." The female puffed out her chest in a cocky manner and winked at Lightning Dust. Rainbow Dash jumped up and started to hover a little, at least, she hoped she would win, she felt a little out of practice if she was being honest with herself.

The eager pegasus drooped her head a bit after making sure no one else was in close proximity but Rainbow Dash. "Yeah, man I miss Cloudsdale too....and Wonderbolts Academy." she sighed, her ears falling flat. Rainbow Dash was the only pony she would willingly admit this too, as she had it set in her mind she had to remain strong and confident around the other Pegasai, and especially the faun.
Stretching her wings out wide, she gave them a few good flaps before hovering into the air, doing a back flip in mid air before stretching her arms high over her head. Man did it feel good to have clear open sky above her. "You think Spitfire will open another Academy of sorts here?" she tilted her head, not really looking at Rainbow Dash just then, but instead at her wings as she tested them much like a pilot would for an airplane. It was only when Dash had already proclaimed herself the winner of a race they had yet to start that she glanced back at the rainbow maned Pegasus and smirked. "Oh puhlease, you've been cooped up in this tree, whose to say you haven't, you know, fallen out of shape a bit?" LD teased. Though truth be told she couldn't really speak herself. It was like the kettle calling the pot black. Another slight frown crossed her lips and she crossed her arms about her chest. "Man you have me really missing the academy now...."

Rainbow glanced over at Lightning Dust, noticing that the other seemed just as bummed as she did. Taking cue from the other female, she began to stretch her legs and wings, talking as she did, "Maybe a race would make us feel better... I don't know about Spitfire, maybe she is just as bummed as us." Rainbow Dash thought about it for a moment. "We should find her and get her to start another academy! Or maybe you could start one, if you've learned your lesson that is." At one point Rainbow Dash had thought maybe she could open up an academy if Spitfire wasn't going to, it was still a possibility, but she was also pretty lazy and that sounded like a lot of work. Rainbow already knew she was fully capable of running an academy, so why did she need to prove it?
Rainbow Dash gave Lightning a preposterous look and then threw back her head, laughing. "As if I would ever fall out of shape, this stuff is all natural." the faun flexed her wings as if they were arm muscles. "Alright, lets do this race, maybe I'll take it easy on you, you know for warm up." Rainbow winked at the other.

Lightning Dust grinned and puffed out her chest proudly as Rainbow Dash mentioned her starting up and academy. That was a brilliant idea! Why hadn't she thought of that! ... of course those dreams were smashed instantly wen the next set of words came out. "Oh.....yeah.......about that..." she swallowed hard and glanced down at the ground. Coming here she had a lot of time to herself to think about it.
At first, she still thought they all had been wrong and she hadn't done anything wrong but slowly she started to think that just maybe what she had done.....was hurting others. The realization was there but it was still trying to push itself to the surface. LD didn't feel fully comfortable admitting her wrongs just yet. But she was trying...and thats what counted, right? "I promise play fair if another academy starts up..." she said softly, drawing one hoof in circles in the dirt. "So anyways! This race!" she smiled again, catching the wink. "First one to reach that tree over there and then back is the winner....yeah?" she grinned, pointing at a lone tree quite aways in the distance. A short race wouldn't be any fun...

Rainbow tilted her head to the side sympathetically, she had realized she had said something hurtful from the way that Lightning Dust was reacting. Sometimes her mouth was a little out of hand. "Oh hey, I'm sorry. I mean, you have already been through enough heck about it." It was certainly difficult to apologize, but maybe Lightning Dust really could run an academy. It wasn't as if Rainbow Dash couldn't show up every once in a while to make sure it was going alright. "You would do great, I promise," the blue faun responded genuinely with a quick now of her head. "Alright! Sounds good to me!" Rainbow flew up and quickly dragged her hoof in a line across the dirt so that there would be no dispute over where the finish line was. They were almost equals in flying, so it wouldn't have surprised Rainbow if the other faun caught up shortly after the finish line. "Alright, racers at your mark!" Rainbow shouted out in her best announcer voice as she got into her racing stance. "And in 3... 2... 1..."

Lightning Dust blinked at Rainbow Dash a moment, a bit stunned at what she had said. "You really think so?" she asked before some pride returned to her voice. "I mean, yeah. I could! It would be way cool and turn even chickens into a Wonderbolt! Of course you can be my right hand mare any time you want..." she said and flashed a toothy grin. Maybe if Spitfire wanted to get in on it, she could be third in command...maybe...
But then the race brought her attention back to the present and she flapped her wings and stretched herself one last time before dropping down to the finish line that Rainbow had just drawn in the dirt. She bared herself and set her wings ready, listening as Rainbow counted down. When she uttered out the number one, Lightning Dust grinned and shouted. "Go!"
With that she zipped from the finish line as fast as possible, her wings fluttering and the wind blowing through her mane. A glittering trail flowed behind her in the shape of a lightning bolt and stars. The wind had never felt so good against her face and she wanted to just... "WAAAAAHHOOOOOOOO!"

Rainbow Dash would have to think about Lightning Dust's offer to make her a second in command to a flight academy, and if it was really possible for them to make a flight academy at their new home later, but everyone deserved a second chance. Now things were about to get serious and go down though. At Lightning Dust's word Rainbow Dash was off soaring at the speed of light, or at least that's what Rainbow told herself. "YEAH-AH-AH-AH!" She shouted as she weaved from side to side towards the tree a distance off. She glanced over at her competition and grinned, this wasn't going to be easy. Dash sprinted ahead to try and get an edge on Lightning, but as she did she felt her wing cramp up and froze. "Wing cramp?! Mayday, mayday, we're going down!" Rainbow shouted as she spun down to the ground, then she hit it and tumbled around in the dirt. Ugh, this was so embarrassing.
