This orange light above the face buttons keeps flashing every so often. I thought it was a notice telling me that I've received something like a note in swapnote or something but that's not always the case. What is this?

That light means that one or many more of your friends are online, I get that light often too.

I think it specifically means that a Friend can be joined in an online game, such as Mario Kart. I occasionally get that light, but not always.
