xxxAs always, teenagers always start out their big journey when they turn ten years old. Most of them aim to become the strongest trainer, to be the new Champion. However, as times go on, the age has changed and so have the goals of the new trainers. Some still want to beat the Champion and claim the title for themselves, some want to rid the world of Team Rocket, Team Magma, and Team Aqua. And then there's the others who want to win every competition there is. And some? They don't even want to fight other trainers, they just want to run Daycares, or even work to become Professors. What kind of trainer will you be?

Today is your big day, the lab is open for the trainers who are fifteen or older, and the starter Pokemon are being handed out! You don't want to be late!

Here is a map of the region where the journey is. We all will be starting in Pallet town. No, you do not have to live there. You can borrow a relatives pokemon to get there, or you can run and jump ledges, just stay out of the tall grass!

Rules

1. As always, follow the Guild rules and Gaia TOS.
2. This is a jump in role-play, so no profiles are needed. But posts must have the character name, and a picture of them.
3. Yes, there's going to be battling, your pokemon isn't always going to win. But I don't want to see auto-hitting. If you've played the games, you know that moves don't always hit.
4. There's bound to be romance, and as always, no cybering. Don't take any romantic scenes past pg-15.
5. Make sure your posts are at least one paragraph, no three liners allowed.
6. Watch this area for future rules. I'll add more if I see a reason to.

xxxRestless was an understatement for the mood that Elena was in, the green haired girl could barely sit still. Constantly glancing to the alarm clock that sat on her desk, she pouted as she realized that she was up much too early. But she was so excited! Today was the day that she was supposed to start her big journey! She would be picking out her pokemon today! Her new friend. Already, she was determined to pick out the perfect one, one that could be cuddly but dangerous at the same time. She wanted one that no one else knew was dangerous, not until it was too late. She wanted to have a trump card, something that no one would expect of such a sweet girl.

She was bubbling with excitement, her eyes boring into her alarm clock before she finally crawled out of her bed. "Well, I suppose I could get ready now and get there early. I don't mind waiting for the professor to let me in! It gives me the chance to pick first, anyways!" Elena piped up, hurriedly getting dressed. Running downstairs, she was greeted by a grin and her mother shaking her head. "Why am I not surprised, Elena? Well, while you're down here, how about you help with breakfast? I'm sure it'll be a way for you to pass the time and to avoid you ruining your eyes by staring at that clock." She teased lightly, nodding over towards the counter where the girl would be put to work mixing the eggs.

Though soon enough, she was done helping with breakfast and it was time to eat, which meant that she needed to hurry and get to the lab. By now, she was pretty much inhaling the food on her plate, not even going for seconds as she kissed her mother and ran upstairs to grab her bag. Sliding the strap over her shoulder and letting it rest against her hip, she was out the door, running over to the lab to meet the professors and the other trainers. She lived in Pallet town, thankfully so that meant she didn't have to go far. The Professors from the other regions were here to offer up some of their starters, as well and she couldn't wait to find out which one she would be travelling with.

Checking her watch, Elena pouted again as she realized that she was still early. Sitting on a bench outside of the lab, she rested her elbows in her knees, staring down at her watch. Time was just moving so slow! She was ready to go in and get her starter and then leave!

xxxThis was one of the first times that he was bothering to try and be on time, this was extremely important, or so he hoped. Grimacing as he looked over at his clock, the male glared as he realized he was up four hours before he would normally wake up. All of this so that he could choose his pokemon and be mature for once. The idea was appealing, he enjoyed that but it meant dealing with bothersome trainers, it meant dealing with others who just wanted to brag about who had the best pokemon. Alleren didn't want to deal with any of that, it just wasn't what he did. If anything, he'd rather spend his day sleeping and playing video games, not running around putting little kids in their place. Huffing as he pulled on a white shirt and some blue jeans, he didn't bother to brush his hair, figuring he didn't need to impress anyone.

Grabbing his messenger bag and a few granola bars, he was out the door, heading towards the lab. Living in Viridian city meant he had quite a walk but it wasn't like he minded, as he had plenty of ledges to jump over, plus there were some older trainers around who didn't seem to mind helping others, though Alleren wouldn't be seen asking for help. "Dunno why the professors can't hold this later on, it's way too freakin' early for this crap!" He groaned, angrily biting into his granola bar. It didn't take him long to get to the lab but it seemed he wasn't the first one there. Suppose the early bird gets the worm.. Must mean that she wants first pick. Would he let that happen? Probably not. He was a top of the class jerk, or he tried to be. It got him all the attention he needed. Squinting at Elena, he took in her appearance before giving a huff and looking to the door. Locked, which meant that he had to wait out here with the girl. Great, gotta sit and wait. Hopefully she's not too talkative. Taking a seat on the edge of the bench, he leaned back, boredly staring off into the distance, hoping that they would let them in soon. He was ready to get his Pokemon and get going.

"Wake up Kyte!" Came the shrill voice of a rather impatient single father. Blue eyes opened up, annoyance laced in every fiber of the iris. Light blonde hair shifted about as a young girl sat up in bed, rubbing sleep from eyes. A second later the familiar poke ball alarm clock went off, sounding off different pokemon that she had picked as the sound to wake up. "Dad...you didn't have to wake me up..." She grumbled as she practically rolled out of bed, shivering at how cold the wooden floor was beneath her feet. "I obviously have a my alarm set as per usual. I don't like being late you know." One of her pet peeves was someone waking her up before the alarm even had a chance to go off.

Yawning, Kyte stretched her arms up above her head as she walked into the bathroom. On the mirror there was a note clearly written by feminine hands. 'Don't be late! Fly to Pallet by no later than 9:50 am!' It was written in her hand writing to make sure she wasn't late, no matter how much she may have wanted to be late. Smiling at herself, she dressed for the day and headed downstairs. On the table was an already made breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage and toast with a side of fresh squeezed orange juice. Her father always made the most natural and organic breakfast. The meat was pretty much tofu, however, it was still great tasting.

The food was scarfed down out of excitement, some of the time making her choke. Today was the day she was getting her first pokemon, the first time she would be going on her pokemon journey! Kyte had been raised in a coordinator house hold, her father having countless amounts of ribbons for the one pokemon he had always placed in contests across seas. "Dad! I'm ready to go!" She shouted, jumping slightly as he threw her a cherish ball, a familiar cherish ball that is. "Walking from Saffron to Pallet will be to far. Take Breeze and fly there. Send him back with his poke ball tied around his claw." He said with a wave, kissing his child on the fore head.

Kyte grinned and nodded, almost jumping with glee as she ran outside. "I'll make you proud dad! Just watch me!" She tossed the cherish ball into the air and out came the familiar Pidgeot that her father had caught when it had been a pidgey. "Fly me to Pallet, okay Flight?" She cooed into the pokemon's ear as she climbed onto its back. The Pidgeot called out, glad to help his masters out in anyway. Off into the air he took flight, his speed unmatched by any of the other flying pokemon around it.

The small town soon came into view, looking smaller than she had heard about before. Flight lowered slowly to the ground until it rested before the pokemon lab's gate. Obviously by the looks of things other trainers were waiting for the lab to be opened up. Kyte slowly got down, kneeling down to tie the cherish ball in place. "Be careful going home Flight. Watch over dad for me." The bird pokemon called out before rubbing its face against her own. And then just like that it took off, leaving Kyte to walk over and take a seat near two other trainers. A boy and a girl she assumed were both waiting for the lab to open up.

xxxThump. Thump. Thump. Someone was walking towards her, but she didn't look up, only tearing her eyes away from her watch to watch a boy sit down near her. Elena was about to open her mouth, give him a greeting, be kind but the way he was slumping and looking away, it seemed he wouldn't want to talk. He had a bad vibe coming from him, and already she felt he'd be a problematic trainer. Of course, another opportunity arrived as a Pidgeot landed not too far in front of her. Watching in awe, the green haired girl inspected the light haired female who came from the bird's back. There was no way it belonged to her, after all, it wouldn't be fair to start your journey when you already had a strong pokemon. And her suspicions were confirmed as the bird was sent away and the girl strolled over to them, taking a seat on the bench as well.

As this girl walked over, she seemed shy but not so angry at the world and Elena couldn't resist. The best way to pass the time was to keep herself busy, and maybe it would help her out if she were to make a new friend in this girl. "Not from around here, are you? That Pidgeot was beautiful. I'm assuming he's a family member's pokemon? I'm Elena!" Hopefully she wouldn't be talking too much, the green haired girl desperate to pass the time. She couldn't just sit and stare at her watch all day, well, she could but that was boring. Hearing Alleren snort, she frowned but decided it was in her best interest to ignore him. He seemed like he thought he was higher than the two girls, so she wouldn't be wasting her time with him.

Kyte looked up from her fallen bangs to see that of a green haired girl talking to her. It seemed pretty fast for someone to want to talk to her. She smiled and relaxed back, crossing her arms behind her head. "I'm here all the way from Saffron. The gym leader and my father thought it would be the best idea that I start my pokemon journey already." She smirked and nodded, looking up at the sky at the tiny dot that was now Flight. "That was my father's Pidgeot. His name is Flight. I've known him since he was just a Pidgey." She smiled at the thoughts of the two of them growing up together.

"My father constantly travels to Sinnoh for the pokemon contests. Even though he use to battle, he is now a pokemon coordinator." She rustled through her bag until she pulled out a wooden case. She opened the latch and lifted the lid, showing off a shiny, blue ribbon. "This is his first ribbon that he won for winning his first ever contest. It's my good luck charm." She then realized that she had been speaking much more than she had wanted to. Quickly, she stashed the box back away in her bag and sat forward. "The name's Kyte, feel free to call me Firefly though."

A snort caught her attention. It was the third trainer, a boy she figured acted as if he were better than everyone else. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out a gum ball wrapped in a yellow wrapper. With a flick of her wrist she flicked it into his cheek, chuckling under her breath with victory. She didn't put up with anyone else acting like an a**, especially in front of girls.

xxxLooking to Kyte thoughtfully, the girl smiling as she listened to her story. "Is he just for battling or is he for the competition as well? By the looks of it, he could easily do both jobs now." She replied to the other girl, not at all minding that the girl was showing off everything she had. Looking in awe at the ribbon, Elena leaned forward to look at it curiously before giving a big smile. "It's so pretty! What rank is that for? I've heard they have a lot of ranks for show." The green haired girl rambled on, only glancing to Alleren as he decided to be rude. Of course, she paid no mind to him other than to giggle at Kyte's method of handling things. "My name is Elena, though I don't particularly have a nickname. This small little town is my home!" She cooed, giving a fond smile.

Though as he suddenly stood, getting ready to yell at Kyte for her actions, Elena stood between the two. "Back. Off! Don't you start being a jerk just because someone paid you back for having a terrible attitude! It's your fault for being rude!" She huffed, refusing to let this boy be so rude to a possible new friend of hers. Of course, she hadn't minded him being mean to her, but to Kyte? And especially for no reason? She wouldn't stand for it! The lock on the laboratory door opened and Professor Oak as well as a few others stood in the doorway, all of them smiling though the curious look in their eyes couldn't be missed. "Welcome, trainers! Would the three of you like to pick out your starting pokemon for your journey?" Professor Oak asked, smiling and waltzing back into the lab so that the others could pick out their pokemon.

In the middle of the lab happened to be a platform lined with pokeballs, and as rude as it was, Elena gently grasped Kyte's wrist excitedly. "C'mon! We can't let this jerk have first pick! C'mon, Kyte! Let's go!" She urged, practically dragging the other girl in.

xxxAnother trainer, another girl at that. When would another boy come along? He snorted at the mere thought of being stuck alone with girls, the male immediately figuring he would be the first to leave if this was all he had to deal with. Girls weren't any fun, they never wanted to battle! All they did was complain, but as a wrapper hit his cheek, he stood, looming over Kyte with a murderous glare. What he didn't expect to face was the quiet green haired one, the male glaring at the two girls. "You stupid brats! Do you have any idea just who you're messing with? My father is a gym lea-" He started, immediately shutting up as Professor Oak strolled out, greeting the three teenagers. Plastering on a fake smile, he listened attentively, though he glared at the two females' backs.

Oh, he'd crush them for this, he'd make sure that they paid for throwing stuff at him. Watching them run straight for the platform, he frowned and ran up between the two, casually throwing his arms over their shoulders and giving a large grin. "Find anything you like, girls?" He cooed, deciding that he would try and beat them both by picking something way better than what they picked. He wouldn't settle for a losing pokemon, he wanted the absolute best, something that he could use to teach these brats a lesson. The male could be charming when he wanted to be, and well, the professors didn't know that he had been about to drop both of them in a puddle of mud, all they knew was that the trio were soon to be trainers, they could even be good friends.

Kyte smiled, glad to see someone else was as interested in contests as her father was. She stood and ran a hand through her bangs. "He's for both in all honesty. Dad constantly trains him to keep him fit and then he takes him into different contests." She then titled her head to the side. "This ribbon was for a normal rank cool contest. Somehow as a Pidgey, the two were in sync." She then blinked as the 'jerk' stood and looked as if he were ready to kill her. She smirked and stuck her tongue out at him, holding her eyelid down to taunt him even more. He thoroughly deserved whatever she chose to do to him.

The sudden jerking motion from Elena startled her as she stumbled forward, smiling at how happy her new friend was. Her mood darkened as the boy put his arms around their shoulders. With a ticked jaw, she shrugged him off and pulled Elena a few steps ahead. "I do think the wind was trying to throw us off. Come on, Ele!" She giggled, giving Elena her chosen nickname. "Let's make sure we get the better pokemon before the wind gets first choice!" She giggled, running the remainder of the way up the hill, never once letting go of Elena's wrist. It was more out of excitement than anything else.

The inside of the lab astounded her. It was so huge and full of so many machines and high tech things that she knew she could never name all of them. Pokemon were helping out here and there, some seeming to be goofing around more than others. Her eyes lit up and she clasped her hands together. "I can't wait to get my own pokemon!" She giggled and turned towards the table that held nine different poke balls. There were labels sitting in front of each of the poke balls, naming off which pokemon was in which poke ball. Apparently the pokemon were the starters of the Kanto, Johto and Hoenn regions.

She looked over each name, ruling out all of the grass types. Grass types and her just never seemed to get along. The other two Kanto starters weren't to her liking so she was already down to four choices. Her debating became much more serious as her foot began to tap and her fingers began to strum on the table top. A cry from somewhere on the floor caught her attention, bringing her to sit on her knees. An Eevee peeped its head from around the corner, giving her a curious stare. She smiled and reached her hand out, allowing the pokemon to try and trust her first. At first Eevee sniffed her hand and backed up, beginning to growl at her.

"It's okay." Kyte cooed softly, making sure to stay still, hand still stretched out. "I'm not going to hurt you. Come here." She whispered, smiling gently. The Eevee ever so softly stepped forward until it licked her palm, bringing her to smile. "There's a good Eevee." Slowly she picked the pokemon up, Eevee rubbing its cheek against hers. Kyte turned towards Professor Oak with a curious stare. "Would I be allowed to take this Eevee as my starter?" She hopefully asked.

He debated for a moment, wondering as to why she hadn't chosen one of the nine starters lined up. However after seeing how the Eevee looked in her arms, he eventually nodded. "I don't see why not. This Eevee was recently hatched from an egg as a female. Make sure to take good care of her." Kyte smiled and nodded turning her attention back to the Eevee in her arms. "I'm going to name you....Eifie, how does that sound?" Eevee cried out in happiness, licking her cheek again. She smiled and looked back at Elena.

"Which one did you choose, Ele?" She knew her new friend would choose one that would be close to her as well. Elena was really kind and Kyte already knew that any pokemon would very easily love her. Eifie moved up to her shoulder, perching itself as if it were a bird. She smiled and scratched behind her ear. "Here's a poke ball!" An assistant spoke up, hading over the standard red and white ball to Kyte. However, Kyte had no plan on using it since she already had a set of five Love Balls from her father.

xxxStaring in awe, Elena frowned as the male came up to try and pretend he was on good terms with the two girls. Turning her head in just the slightest, just enough to look back at him, she scrunched her nose. "You smell nasty. Ever hear of deodorant or cologne?" She snorted, glaring at him before continuing on with her rant about what he smelled like. Thankfully for Alleren, Kyte was busy dragging Elena away though she still managed to slip out just one last insult. "You smell like you played in Tauros poo!" She called back to him, giving a wave. Of course, this was odd behavior for Elena, she was never so rude, but this boy was too much of a jerk for her to keep her mouth shut.

When they finally got to where the pokemon were, Elena was left alone, the girl looking through them all until her eyes fell on a grass type. A young Chikorita wandered towards her, the pokemon pawing at her leg. Of course, it was definitely a runt but the girl couldn't resist leaning down and picking up her new found friend. Looking up as she heard Kyte's voice, she looked at the Eevee and then at the other girl. "Yuppie! I found myself a Chikorita, I don't know what to name him though.." She murmured thoughtfully. What could she name him? He was smaller than all the rest but he was so sweet, he deserved a wonderful name.

The green haired girl was silent, trying her hardest to think of a name for her Chikorita. After having a few choices, she finally decided to try out a name for him. "How does Bentley sound? It means clearing, or meadow. I think it suits you." Elena cooed, being nudged and rubbed affectionately. "Looks like the deal is sealed, we'll call you Bentley!" Elena mused, holding him to her chest lovingly. One of the assistants wandered forward, offering the pokeball that was meant for the Chikorita and Elena placed it on her belt, thanking the man before turning to Kyte. "So, what's your plans? I think Bentley and I are going to travel. I don't know if I want to make him battle." She spoke up, always having dreams to run a daycare.

xxxSilently debating on how to get both of the girls back, he wasn't too surprised when they shoved his arms off. Not like it really bothered him, at least he knew one way to upset them. Stunned as he was told that he smelled bad, Alleren narrowed his eyes at Elena, just about to pull her into a hug though she ran off. "There goes making her embrace my manly smell.." Though after he sniffed himself, he rose a brow in confusion. He didn't stink! The girl was just being a brat! Fuming, Alleren watched them walk away from him, both heading to the safety of the lab. They were already choosing their pokemon, earning a laugh from him. The green haired one had chosen a runt, and the other one? Eevee had no advantage over anything!

Walking over to a group of fire pokemon, he grabbed the Charmander, not even caring that the pokemon was aggressive. He would do just fine. "You're going to help me teach these stupid girls a lesson, Boy. I don't care what you have to say, but if you lose, I swear to god.. You'll regret ever having me as your trainer." He snarled, ignoring the looks of fear from the apprentices in the lab. He wasn't here to make friends, he would soon be the champion and no champion had a team of weak pokemon. Walking up to the girls, he smirked as he held his Charmander, the reptile looking vicious.

"I wanna put you two brats in your place. But, you see, you don't stand a chance with that wimpy Chikorita and that stupid Eevee!" He snickered, grinning down at the two. His Charmander gave a menacing growl, the flame on his tail lighting up as he looked up to Alleren. Already, he was a bad influence on his pokemon, teaching it nothing but hate. Maybe they would fall for it, both of them try to take him on just so he could tear them to shreds with his Charmander. The little fire pokemon was eager to attack, Alleren barely trying to keep him from attacking.

Kyte smiled at Bentley, glad to see that Elena had chosen one that need more love and attention. Suddenly remembering something, she dug through her bag and pulled out two poffins. "My dad taught me how to make these," She held one up to Eifie whom enjoyed digging into it. Outstretching her other hand, she put the other in Elena's pocket. "Let Bentley have that later. It'll make him much stronger and give his coat quite a shine." She then blinked, wondering what she really was going to do. "Well, I figured you and I could travel together. After all, you probably know this area more than I do." She smiled, looking up at the happily full Eifie.

"To raise a pokemon properly you have to battle. Battling allows you and your pokemon to become very close over time." She then looked over as the boy randomly picked a Charmander, automatically seeing that the two had the same bad attitude. She stormed up to him, purposely getting in his face. "Don't you dare ever threaten a pokemon like that! Pokemon are not dogs! They are there to be your friends and battle along side you!" This was one side of Kyte only the Saffron gym leader had seen before.

Stepping back, she tried to clear her head. This boy just pissed her off far to much. "Grow up little boy and quit acting like some high and mighty person that is better than everyone else!" By now the assistants had back off, one running off to go and find the professor. "I challenge you to a battle, Eifie against your Charmander! If I win, you have to treat Charmander as a good friend!" She was far to fired up to back down from him now. She would put him in his place. "And if you win I'll admit you have the right to do whatever you want." Even if she didn't want to. Not after she had seen what Team Rocket had done in her home town years ago.

xxxWhen the poffin was placed in her pocket, Elena blinked, struggling to keep Bentley off of it. She nodded at the instructions before looking to her Chikorita, giggling at his attempts to get it. He had originally tried loving up on her, nuzzling her arm and giving a coo though when that failed, he resorted to using the leaf on the top of his head to try and swipe it from her. "Okay! Okay! You can have your poffin now, Bentley. Give me a few." Elena laughed, looking over at Kyte as she explained the needs to battle. "I know that Bentley can be strong but you know how some trainers can be, just think of that jer-" She started, her eyes on Alleren as he chose his partner. It was no question as to why he had chosen it but she was at Kyte's side as the girl approached him.

Looking at the two in pure shock, Elena knew that Kyte had summed everything up, and she wasn't sure what to do about the battle. After all, with Bentley being a grass type, she had quite the risk if she put him into battle with the Charmander that the enemy had chosen. "Good luck, Kyte, and Eifie. Teach that jerk a lesson!" She huffed, lightly patting the Eevee. Bentley even tried to give the other two luck, wanting to battle as well but Elena wasn't ready to risk him getting hurt.

While she waited for the battle to start, she thought of Kyte's offer, mulling over all of the possibilities. It seemed as if Bentley and Eifie got along well, so the two of them wouldn't be a problem and she hadn't found any reason not to like the other girl. It would be nice to have someone to back her up if she ever needed it. Though she would wait until a better time to tell Kyte since the girl was busy with the battle. Bentley was busily chewing on pieces of the poffin, resting on Elena's arm and eating from her hand, enjoying the little treat that his new friends had offered to him.

xxxThis wasn't something he expected, Boy had fallen silent, the Charmander looking hurt. "Oh, grow up you little runt! I will not have a little emotional wimp!" He hissed out, glaring to the Charmander before he was faced by Kyte. Of course, the little reptile ran around to Alleren's front, growling up at the teenage girl, puffing his chest out at her and her Eevee. Even if it's trainer was mean, it still adored him and would do anything for him. At her demand for him to treat the runt with some respect, Alleren scoffed, soon laughing at her. "Him? My friend!? He's just my minion. Nothing more, nothing less. He has to earn my respect, you little brat." He laughed, poking her forehead to push her back. "But sure, I would love to battle! I've been itching to put you and your freaky friend in your places, too bad she's too much of a wimp, babying that stupid Chikorita." He sneered, earning a vicious glare from Elena.

Though he nodded down to Boy, the Charmander walking towards the door. "Let's take this outside, shall we? I can't wait to burn you down to the ground." He told her with a wide smirk. Walking outside, he waited by the door, his Charmander's flame burning brightly. Alleren was psyched, even battling just one of those girls would most definitely teach the lesson though he hoped that the green haired one would step in to kick his butt afterwards. He'd been waiting for the chance to get them back and smashing them into the ground seemed like his best bet. He would whip them right into shape, especially now that they were trying to tell him how to raise his Charmander.
