Project Arctic FoxStage 1 – Rediscovery OOC Note: This mission is to build on the existing base, if something isn’t defined, feel free to embellish it, find rooms that aren’t established, see things that might be of interest, have fun! The main thing to bear in mind is that the base is wrecked and has been for months, anything still functional would have to have been able to withstand this.
This mission will be open for a week at this easy going stage at the very least before I bring in any larger boss or progress it! Feel free to explore/flesh it out. Hunters are free to come and go back to base as they see fit, just post EXIT when you leave. I'll be around (and therefore Rep) all the time. If you want to interact with him, feel free.
Any projects of your own you might want to run here are a-okay, show off dem specialisations.
Everything can be done alone or in groups!IntroAll around Deus posters were popping up, typed out surprisingly neatly on a laptop, laid out with care and sporting a large picture of a polar bear. Someone apparently got other people to proofread their poster.Date and time details followed; apparently they would have to arrive on the day at 6AM, by the portals.On the morning in question.Bright and early, anyone arriving at the portal would find Rep there already, with it fired up and waiting, the low hum of runic energy audible in the background.
“I already ran a perimeter check, there’s nothing lurking through the immediate doorway. If you are like, a hunter rank, go on if you want, have a look around. Intermediates and trainees should probably stick around here, get some group mates, don’t be a hero.” He grinned toothily. “Our objective is to find the nest of Yetis. They have like.. groups. Mostly bitches with their kids. We want the patriarch, the big daddy.”
He waved a stack of mission folders. “Anyone who wants more info on yetis and s**t, what I could like, find and print out is in here. I’m no as savvy as life and death guys so you are free to look it over. I don’t even know if these yetis are the same as the ones in the books I found, we might be in for a surprise. But that’s good right? Surprises are interesting. Though what I DID manage to get hold of were headsets. If you find s**t, share it with everyone else!” For some reason the Japanese schoolgirl outfits had been very easy to trade off for headsets.
“There’ll be some kind of prize for whoever murders the most yetis, I’ve just no decided what it’ll actually be yet. So report in with your headset when you kill one and I’ll keep track. Right? Right.”On the other side of the portal.Beyond the portal lay a room inside what remained of the base, scattered broken furniture appeared to have been shoved against the walls to create a clear space for the portal. The first thing you notice is how damn cold it is. It is freezing inside, even without the cutting wind outside to chill. Exploration.Rolling here will be 1d100 with ranges IF YOU WANT. If you do not you can work through these at your own pace. There is no need to do the same part twice.
1-20 - You come across a mostly intact outbuilding, there are preserved signs of a struggle outside, just beneath the snow, a makeshift barricade rent into so many splinters by what had to be inhuman strength, the door is completely missing and the entrance remains sealed off only by snow. A bit of digging regains entry into the building and what lies within are evidences of a struggle.
21-40- You find the generator room, the generators are still and motionless and a single screen flashes with the message RUNIC CELL REQUIRED. Most of the equipment here appears intact however and the building itself is sturdy.
41-60- The remains of the lab building are not in great condition, most of the walls are riddled with holes and most of the equipment has been rendered unusable, worse still the lower floors are not accessible without digging.
61-80- The residential floors are still barricaded off with heavy wooden barriers though it seems doubtful anyone could have survived back there.
81-100- There are yeti tracks, fresh ones in the snow around what seemed to have been a food storage area, it is flattened and around the perimeter all that remains are various barrier daggers, not charged, seemingly part of the base's defence system. Did you hear something? (roll a yeti if you like)Battles.At any point you can spawn one of these creatures for you or your team or when you roll 81-100

There will be other GM controlled boss mobs around though too should you want to join in on those.
Damage carries over from battle to battle, if you want to heal up or you hit 0 HP, you need to go to the Infirmary to refresh your HPItems.At any point you might find yourself quoted to find something important to the base (a runic power battery for the shields for example) this is just flavour mostly to make things a bit more interesting, feel free to bring them back. There might also be clues as to where the yetis are coming from given out this way.

InfirmaryThe Infirmary is set up in one of the few mostly-intact buildings. Any gaping holes have been covered with tarp. In spite of the warnings about bringing your own lunch, there is a small camping stove, and sitting on top of it, an aluminum coffee pot. Packets of cafeteria-grade coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were in a nearby box.
There is a certain blonde...well, not doctor, but nurse-in-training at least, waiting with almost over-eager hopefulness.
"Take a seat and I'll get you bandaged up," Harrison says, gesturing to the army-green cots they'd managed to scrounge up. Most of the supplies have been scavenged from the surrounding area.Quote: Anyone who has been injured or who has low HP can enter the infirmary to regain full health. If you are KO'ed, this is where you end up. If you want to RP helping with nursing/triage instead of fighting, grab a bandage and an RP partner. You can assume you asked first, no need to ICly do so. It was hard to miss the posters that had appeared everywhere on Deus ex, and while Jason didn't want to punch polar bears or Yetis, he was more then interested in helping out in the infirmary. It was a chance to learn how to apply his medical knowledge, and he was more then keen. Approaching Rep on the day, he was intrigued to find the sun hunter not only had a set of mission folders, but some headsets as well (Jason however didn't have any interest in killing Yetis, and was more then happy to let someone else take the prize for that competition). Taking both, he thanked the hunter before walking through the portal and into a face of snow. Good thing he had dressed warmly for the occasion. Upon approaching the infirmary, it was clear there wasn't anyone about yet save for Harrison, and some hater water and coffee to boot. "Hey Harrison!" He called out to the other moon hunter. "Need any help?"

Rep arrived at the base well and truly geared up for the cold, he was snugly nestled into a high collar and scarf, topped off with a thick polar bear furred hood, with red snow goggles pulled down over his eyes. Even prepared for it the cold was ruthless and it took a few minutes of just adjusting to the sharp shift from tropical clamminess to icy chill before he could even think of heading out into the snow.
Crossing his arms, he buried his chin in his scarf and waited patiently to keep track of arrivals.

Jerry made his way through the portal and despite the thick jacket the quartermaster had given him, the skinny man still looked cold. "Those poor Yetis," He shook his head, wondering just why he had decided to come. "They aren't that bad, you know," he added as he approached their so-called leader. Not that Jerry knew anything about Yetis. Just... what it was like to get fairly drunk and pilot a massive yeti gollem. But they didn't SEEM so bad at the time.

Rep was immediately torn between gratitude that Jerry had come all the way out there and angry at him daring to say yetis weren't all that bad after demonstrating very well exactly why they were terrible. "They are rampaging monsters." Rep snapped huffily. "And they are wrecking the s**t here. The s**t you didn't wreck already." As far as Rep was concerned, if anyone owed helping to get this place back in a functional state, it was Jerry. "Its just a matter of point and shoot man. If you can't do sun things and start getting all concience-y, you are just sending them home." After all, everything in Halloween had that really ******** annoying tendency to just come back to life.

The almost comically layered Stormy arrived after a few, furry hood and goggles already up and on. The cold weather was what made her feel most alive, and she couldn't help the bright smile on her normally placid expression as she flounced in from the portal, as eager as a child on Christmas. Maybe she'd be good at driving Yetis out, maybe she wouldn't be. But hey, snow~
"Reporting for duty, sir!" she said with a salute. And then began bouncing on the heels of her feet. Excitement. Sure, she wasn't sure what to make of the red-haired Hunter after her last encounter, but she also believed that first impressions weren't everything; certainly Sasha had warmed up to her since their initial contact.
Speaking of people she'd met a while back - "Oh! Mr. Jerry, hi!" the trainee chirped, waddling over. "Ready for an arctic adventure~?"

Though not particularly thrilled by the concept of heading anywhere with Rep in the lead, the idea of going back to the Arctic for more research had the potential to be quite interesting, not to mention enlightening. And besides, holding grudges against people for long periods of time was exhausting - and, Gale decided, ultimately useless as they did nothing but cause irritation.
So setting aside any and all negativity he might have felt and deciding to metaphorically turn over a new leaf, he headed towards the arranged meeting place, dressed in the same fur coat he had been wearing on their first trip to the Arctic and its blistering cold, a pair of gold tinted goggles resting atop his head of blonde and white hair.
"Sounds good, chief," he said to Rep, and picked up a headset, dangling it from his fingers before his eyes caught sight of something - or maybe it was someone - walking around as though she were wearing an entire clothing store.
Gale squinted at her for a moment, then walked over.
"Stormy?" he asked. "Is that you?"
He gave Jerry a small nod, a vague, almost-smile touching his lips. "Hey, Jerry. How are you doing?"

Stormy got a grin for her eagerness, Rep absolutely delighted to see people join in on what he'd worried would be a mission of selective interest. He was even willing to set aside his irritation with women in favour of actually fairly leading this thing and letting people share in his enthusiasm.
"Thanks for coming along." he said, letting her go address Jerry while he said "Yo!" to Gale as he arrived. It was a pleasant surprise to see Death hunters joining in aswell, their skillset was ideal to have about, as well as Life, if anyone could scope out an area - it was them.

Stormy perked at the sound of her name and swiveled in place. "Mm~" she hummed happily in response with a wiggle of her fingers in hello, then gave Gale a small salute as well - full Hunter and all. And then, because somehow British and snow clicked together in the span of two seconds in her mind, she started humming something and flounced about, grabbing the headset she had forgotten to nab upon arrival.
"Noo-oo-oo pro-oo-blemmmm~" she sang in response to Rep as she fiddled with her hood to slip the thing on. Once finished, she clasped her gloved hands together. "I actually wanted to go like nownownow, but trainee and all, not so great an idea going on your own, but hey some of us are here so we should totally like go and investigate and be like one small step for man in there."
Snow made her really happy okay. Not even the prospect of having to mass slaughter animals dimmed her - well at least at the moment.

Rep gave the very eager trainee a smirk. "Feel free to have a look about, there are wee ones around here and there, if you run into trouble you can just shout over the headsets and backup will come running. More people will be about soon too hopefully aswell." He didn't comment on the fact he recognised the tune she was humming - that would be a dent to his manliness.
"Just keep an eye out, it's like. Presumed it's yetis out there. Death intel, which with like, Mark running a lot of the data over there" His gaze drifted to Gale, uncertain if the blonde man might be insulted by a perceived slight to his division. But it was Mark, right? Surely they knew what he was like?
It was a fair point. "... well.. Just be careful."

Dakota hissed as the portal dropped him in the arctic base. cold was never a thing for him, NEVER a thing and thus when he rolled his way out of snow and to the cold chill of the base, he shrugged the huge coat and goggles to make sure nothing got through. Thank god for Chama.

Rep beamed at Dakota as he arrived, glad to see more Moon representation around the place, you could never have too many moons. "Hah, thanks for coming along man."
"Right now? Clear out the place of all the hairy monsters, basically get a perimeter. Also see if you can find the barrier daggers, last time I was here this place definitely had like some ******** heating going on. My theory like, is we kill enough of the small fry, we pull out the big bad boss yeti. Least if the info's right."
He held up a hand. "So aye. Murder. Barriers. Explore. Pretty much. "

Dakota grinned, the smile the only thing seen under the bright orange lens of the googles. He adjusted them again, straightened his jacket and nodded. Headset in place.
"Alright brotha. Kill some Yetis, find the daggers. Find Daggers??" Dakota perked at that and grinned. "I might be able to find that." Dakota shifted one more time before sighing.
"One day, I'd like to go to a warm place instead of a cold one..."
With the headset, he headed out and gave a salute to Rep. "I'll give you a report later boss." The first thing he noticed was the cold slap of wind, enhancing his awareness to just HOW cold it was.
Yeah yeah Chama.
The exploration was greatly hindered by the blinding white but...with careful navigation from being taught by Sam and Wilson, as well as the training he prepared himself for, his eyes were hooded and looked carefully. A building...that was a good sign right?
It would've been if he hadn't noticed the sheer damage around the building, the splintered door hung vicariously from what was left of its hinges. further inspection lead him to reveal that most of the room was hidden by snow.
"Chama? Care to heat this room for me?" He pulled the fire dagger from its sheath and buried it deep in the snow. It took a few minutes but soon....soon the snow started to puddle and spread farther out. It wasn't more then ten minutes and a freezing Dakota later that he had access to the outbuildings interior.
"It looks like someone had a fight in here..."
Chama sounded a bit worried. The moon hunter scoffed and shrugged his shoulders. With no evidence of a creature or runic barriers, the moon hunter didn't bother to stick around.
"We got better things to find then some destroyed room. Plus Rep said we could have some heat going if we find things..."
