Kalypso: *grumble grumble* Just because I'm pretty doesn't mean I'm nice... I'm too tired for this. -_-

*Caryiln prances up to Kalypso* But think of what awaits after this. Cute little baskets then snuggly foals. ^_^

Kalypso: *gives a small nod* I know, and I can't wait... They'll be the first family I've had in a while. *smiles grimly at Caryiln's big tummy* How has your time been, waiting?

*Caryiln coos at her new friend in sympathy.* Same here, so I can't wait. *gives the other mare a bright smile* I'm so excited I can hardly wait. Each day is like sunshine and roses. What about you?

Kalypso: "Sunshine and roses, hmm?" She can't help but giggle appreciatively. "It's been a little bit less sparkly for me, but I haven't fallen or anything, so it's been alright. Been thinking of any names?"

*Caryiln tosses her head, happy to have made the other mare laugh* I am sorry to hear that, but maybe I can share some of my sunshine and roses with you? Oh dear me, I wouldn't know where to start. *She laughed* Have any good ideas? I'd be happy to brainstorm if you'd like.

Grinning at the other mare, Kalypso laughs again. "I'd be happy to have some of your sunshine and roses, thank you. As for names... I'm not really sure. I think I'll name one of mine Querida or Querido - it means "beloved" in my father's native language. Speaking of which, what does your foals' father look like? That might help with the brainstoming," Kalypso said, curious. She herself wasn't quite sure where Alonzo had wandered off to, but he was probably around somewhere.

*Caryiln bounces around as much as her current state allows* My pleasure! I'm Caryiln by the way. Aawwwww that sounds adorable. It'll be a good name for whoever gets it. OH he's a black with subtle rainbow colored markings. Very handsome if you know what a mean. *Leans close with a mischievious smile and wiggles her ears*

Nodding as Caryiln introduced herself, Kalypso felt a corner of her mouth twitch up as she talked about her fellow. "I'm Kalypso. And yes, I think it'll be fitting... They'll be dearly loved, after all." Her smirk widened a little as Caryiln leaned closer, and she bit back an outright laugh. "Well, now, that's good to hear. Have you considered color- or marking-based names? I mean, obviously you won't know what they look like until they arrive... But it'd be good to have some thoughts percolating around~"

Happy to meet you Kalypso. That's a pretty name too. A family of pretty names. *Caryiln considered the option with a tilt of her head* Ooooooo that leaves open so many possibilities. They could be black with rainbow hearts, or red and rainbow, or rainbow and.... oh yes hmm. Good point. Does anything strike you?

Kalypso couldn't help but grin at the compliments - she felt like she was smiling more than she had in months. Of course, there was that day when the flutters in the stomach had first started, when only she could feel the foals moving around. That had been one of the best days of her life. "Um... I don't know. I feel like a name should just sorta... stick out when you happen upon it. Where does your name come from? Maybe we could think of something stemming from it."

*Sadly she shook her head. It would have been nice.* I don't know if my name has any meaning. But that shouldn't stop us. The name has to be right for the foal. In the end I know it'll work out. *Caryiln swished her tail, maybe it was silly of her to ask naming advice from a mare she'd just met. Being silly never stopped her before.* Have you thought about the name of the other foal?

Turning her slightly disappointed sigh into a hum of thought, Kalypso looked around. Though it was still cold out, some of the flowers were beginning to bloom... That could be a start. "You're right. Have you thought about flower names?" When Caryiln asked about the other foal, Kalypso paused for a moment. "Not really... I think Alonzo - the father - might be taking the basket with him... I don't want to get too attached. I mean, it'll always be my baby, but if he want to take one, he has every right. They're half his, after all." Trying not to tear up (her hormones were getting the best of her), Kalypso moved back to the subject at hand. "Mm... What about Valentine's names? Like Valentino or Valentina?" Judging by the size of Caryiln's abdomen, it looked like Cupid had fooled her, as well, and the markings on the mare only added to the appropriateness of the nomenclature.

She turned her head to view the few flowers showing their faces. Flowers were good. She loved flowers, and Caryiln knew there was more than just the couple kinds here, but it didn't seem right. Try as hard as she could It didn't seem to fit. "No I don't think those will work, though I will keep them in mind just in case," she replied just as happy as ever. The red mare gave a quick nuzzle. "It'll be alright. You'll be able to see him and the foal won't you?" It would be sad if they had to separate. "Now those are adorable! You're so much better at this an I am Kalypso. I'm so glad I ran into you."

Slightly surprised when Caryiln leaned over to nuzzle her, Kalypso felt herself blush. She hadn't been in close quarters with anyone for a very long time, and she could barely remember the night that she and Alonzo had met. Ducking her head for a moment before remembering her likely-reddening face wouldn't show through her dark pelt, Kaly gave something that was a mix between a nod and a shake of the head. "I don't know... Maybe. I don't see him sticking around for long, though, he's not much of a serious guy and raising foals might scare him off." She would be fine with giving him a basket and sending him on his way - that way, her foal wouldn't have a sibling to get attached to when they popped out of their baskets; it'd just have its mother.

Feeling her gut - not her abdomen, but her insides - twist uncomfortably at the thought of saying goodbye to one of her children before they'd even met, Kaly turned back to the subject of names. "I'm glad you like it, this is fun. I've never really had a girlfriend to talk to about the whole pregnancy thing," she replied. It really was neat to be able to talk to Caryiln about this. Sure, Alonzo'd stuck around, but Kaly thought it was mostly out of a sense of obligation.

Caryiln didn't seem to notice the mare's embarrassment. Instead she cooed with sympathy. "Don't worry dear. Foals can do strange things to stallions." The red mare gave a deep chuckle and a wink. "But if it turns out he's foal shy, then you'll be left with them all. Should that happen, I dun think my foal's stallion would mind if you wanted to raise your little 'uns with ours." She thought of how much fun the three of them could have raising a bunch of foals. It made her want to wiggle from nose to tail.

"Oooo I can't wait for them to pop out of their baskets so we can pick beautiful names for them." Caryiln perked her ears up. "Girlfriends?! What a great idea!" The mare bounced excited on her front hooves a few times. "What are we gonna talk about? What what? I can't tell you how hungry I am all the time."

Nodding to Caryiln, Kalypso decided to take the mare's reassurances. She almost didn't want to get attached to the idea that she might get to keep both foals, or all of them, should there be three - the idea was too good to be true. Maybe it made her callous, but she thought that only keeping one of her precious baskets might be good enough for her. "I'd be glad to raise them with you!" Kalypso exclaimed, wondering how she'd never thought of finding someone to at least be friends with... She'd just been thinking of going it alone. It seemed almost like an impossible job, now that she thought about it; who would she learn from? Didn't foals have to nurse, and, God forbid, be delivered? What would she do if she didn't have someone there with her? "I'll see if I can find you when it's time to have them, if Alonzo's not around," she said.

"I agree!" she replied, mostly about picking names, but also about the pair of them becoming girlfriends. "Oh, I know, it's the strangest thing. I had this craving for fruit the other day, and it's out of season... Odd, right?"

magnadearel

Sorry for the lateness, dearie. >.<

Kalypso's words made the bright mare give a nose to tail wiggle. This was wonderful news. Caryiln nodded eagerly. "I'll leave word with anyone that I see of where I'll be or plan to go next. Hopefully you won't have any trouble finding us should you come looking. You'll have to at least come find me after they pop out of their baskets. We can coo over each other's baby." Caryiln giggled.

"Mmmmm fruit does sound interesting. Shall we go search for some?" The red mare perked her ears eagerly. She was always up for an adventure.

(Not a problem! It's been pretty crazy here last couple of months. Thanks for the quote.)

"Well... Could I travel with you?" she asked, feeling hope well up like some bubbliness in her shoulders. "Or would you travel with me? I prefer to stay close to the ocean... It's where I last saw my family. But yes, I would love to coo over your babies someday!" she exclaimed, feeling both ridiculously enthused and a little bit ridiculous at the same time as she said it.

"Do you think there's fruit around here?" she asked, looking around as she started walking in some direction - probably west, parallel with the ocean that wasn't too far away. "Or maybe something dried? Dried is always better than nothing." Kalypso could almost feel herself salivating even now - just a tiny bit of something sweet, that was all she needed. But winter was just beginning to fade, trading freezing nights for crisp ones... Were there berries that grew in the winter? Or this early in spring?

Mahogany Sunset
I can try, but my rp muses have not been very helpful lately. Dealing with a lot of stress at home right now.

"Why didn't you ask sooner?!" She exclaimed with delight. This was even better! She loved company. "Either one works for me," the mare grinned. "Ocean it is." It would be nice if they could find some evidence of Kalypso's family while they traveled.

"Mmmmm I wouldn't know. Only thing we can do is look or ask someone." She peered around but didn't see anyone handy to ask. Caryiln pranced after the other mare. "Sweet, juicy grass is all I want." Of course, she was happy with almost anything. "Whatever you want we can look for."
